GIONA'S GYM IS A SERIES OF NEON-LIT TUNNELS that is located within Rustboro City. The gym is a series of tight corridors, culminating in a square room that's just barely big enough for a double battle. It's located in the heart of Rustboro, on the opposite corner of a large thoroughfare to the Pokemon Center. Aesthetically, it's meant to evoke the will-o-wisp; the will-o-wisp being a ghostly light seen at night by travelers. Will-o-wisps were attributed to ghosts until they were discovered to be the oxidization of flammable gases. [break][break]


IDENTIFICATION » Trainers must provide valid identification. Known criminals may present doctored information, and not be turned away from the door so long as it looks plausible. Those who steal from the gym are banned until further notice. [break][break]

CHALLENGE » Choose between a traditional gym battle or a non-traditional option.[break][break]

POKEMON » A list of each Pokemon's ability and moveset must be provided prior to the challenge as the Gym Leader's choice of pokemon will be determined by the list provided.[break][break][break]

All fights will be held in the square shaped arena at the end of the tunnel and will be altered to accommodate for whatever Pokémon you sign up for your gym badge.[break][break][break]


GOAL: The goal of Giona's gym is to stress the importance of the symbiotic relationship between people and pokemon. In fact, he'd go so far as to say that there are species of ghost type whose traits are owed to human intervention, like Chandelure. People who respect that bond in their battling style and or exhibit this in general with their Pokémon will receive the Will o Wisp Badge from Giona.[break][break][break]

FOR THE WILL O WISP BADGE, Giona offers a traditional format like all other gym leaders, and a non-traditional.

TRADITIONAL FORMAT - TIGHT CORRIDORS!: This gym's battles will be no more than a double battle in the number of participants, just as a matter of considering the physical space.

SIMILAR TO TRADITIONAL FORMATS, Giona offers another kind of challenge, for the daring.[break][break]

CHALLENGE 1 - BLACKOUT!: This option is much like a traditional battle, but with a twist: all the lights are cut out. Both parties will need to roll, 55 or above to connect. Moves with no accuracy check like Shockwave or Aerial Ace are unaffected by this. Participating pokemon with the ability Keen Eye get to reroll once every two rounds. Moves that reduce the target's evasiveness or raise the user's accuracy grants a +10 to the user's next roll. Moves that raise the target's evasiveness or reduce the user's accuracy grants a -10 to the user's next roll.

THE FOLLOWING MOVES are banned from use: destiny bond, perish song.[break][break]

Furthermore, if the thread is waiting for a post from the gym challenger for more than two weeks, then the thread will be at risk of archival.
