What time is it? It's depair time.[break][break]

Someone thought making a Bullet Hell challenge would be a smart idea, but they forgot that certain cases could happen. And Balder was here to show her mistakes. One could almost say it was his duty as the previous Gym Leader of Sootopolis. The man appeared out of a portal of darkness in front of the new gym and walked in slowly.[break][break]

"Balder Schwartz, I got a gym challenge with Lady Melody. May you point me to the proper location?" he asked the clerk at the entrance. After receiving his directions, the man headed to the room where the challenge would happen. Upon arrival, he unleashed an armada of baby pokemons onto the field, who went to play at one hand of the room while Balder was removing his coat and top, waiting for the Gym leader to show.

She had an interesting challenger today apparently. People around her were whispering his name over and over, why were they so worried? Melody had no idea herself who he was, unaware of his past or even has his previous status as the gym leader. She was running a bit behind, as she ran over to the main stage. [break][break]

Balder would be lead down a rather long dark hall that would lead to an open stage that was clearly set up for her performance that night. However after he released all his pokemon melody would rush to the stage, a white top with some jean shorts and her hair in a high ponytail yet still pretty in it's pink color. [break][break]

She looked to her challenger "Balder Schwartz right? Everyone around me is talking all about you." she said setting up her headset properly. She paused, seeing that he already chose his team who were all sitting there playing.. "Wait are you serious? All baby pokemon?" she said staring at him with some disbelief in her eyes. [break][break]

Maybe he had some secret strategy?

The gym leader finally arrived as the man finished stretching. She mentioned how everyone kept talking about him, which made the ex-Gym Leader wonder what they could've been saying. Nothing too bad about him right? But then, her comment came about the pokemons he had brought. "They may be small, but it doesn't mean they're unable to face you properly."[break][break]

Plus, he kept an ace upon his belt, ready to deploy if things went south. The man went near the group of child that kept playing and whistled two simple notes. The small creatures looked upon their masters and proceeded to gather near him, ready to spend their surplus of energy. "Ready whenever you are, Ms. Miro."

Melody raised an eyebrow and then thought it over. Yeah he was right, even some baby Pokémon were extremely powerful so she shouldn't judge them before they've even had a chance to start showing their stuff! "Very well then!" she grinned. [break][break]

The rotom cameras spun around her and flew to capture the full display of the battle and she was ready to go! "Hope you don't mind but I picked the song for our battle. Get ready!" she called out as she was now ready to call out her team. "Prima! toxies! Lapras! Airpod! Rilaboom!" she called out as her pokemon slid onto the stage in front of her and she pressed a button on her headset. [break][break]

"Lets go you all! Give em a warm welcome! Da capo!" she calls out and her Pokémon get into their starting positions and fire off their respective attacks at his team. [break][break]

Both toxtricities use over drive [break]

Oh right, it was that challenge. The "Bullet Hell".[break][break]

... Did someone tell her that her attacks were not related to bullets at all? Or most of them at least. And did she seriously call one of her pokemons "Airpod" like the product from the famous company Flapple Corp? Balder scratched the back of his head before he whistled a note. "Sticking to the plan. Defense up."[break][break]

The army of small creatures to proceeded to place themselves behind Balder. As the attacks neared him, covering the view the gym leader would have on him, his hands ignited. With hands burning bright, the Alolan began to slice some of the attacks, while tanking some of them against his steel body. As the water attacks collided with his hands, the water evaporated due to the intense heat, causing a wall of steam. The man proceeded to quickly deactivate the ignition so that the Gym Leader wouldn't notice that power.[break][break]

She stared in horror as the Pokémon hid behind balder and her pokemon's attacks conjoined on him. However gardevoir, the pokemon who usually evacuates people was too slow and the attacks all collided with balder himself. However a plume of steam and light covered her view of balder. She rushed down the stage towards him "Oh fuck! Are you ok?!" she said slowing down when she got closer waiting for the steam to dissipate. however gardevoir teleported in her way and blocked melody from proceeding forward, even teleporting her back to her spot. [break][break]

"Dancer what is wrong with you?!" she exclaimed as the steam cleared and her pokemon stared unsurprised at the view before them both. He...he was fine? What the fuck? Melody was so confused as to what just happened, she saw her attacks land on him...she pressed a button on her headset, pausing the music. "Uhhh...excuse me? what the hell just happ-How did you?" she said very confused. The fact steam even showed up at all was very confusing, he had no fire types responsible for that.. "Now I know it says anything goes...but some things seem rather obvious like don't make me a murderer.."

Her pokemons had good judgement. Stopping her from getting closer during the defense and warping her back to her position. It seems they knew what he did in a way, that they are aware of his potential. "Guess you're not aware of who, or rather what I am. I'm surprised but also happy, for once, that someone doesn't know my identity."[break][break]

"Don't worry though. The person that can murder me doesn't exist. I doubt they ever will." The man stretched once more, twisting his arms and upper body to be sure to maximize the effect on his muscles. "I could tell you how I did this... Or I could make you work for it."[break][break]

The man grinned. A mischievous grin, showing he had something in mind. "Yeah, let's make you work for it. If you're able to push me from the spot I'm standing right now, I'll tell you my secret. And with the strength you displayed just now, it won't be happening. You'll need to go all out. Use your team's full power and potential." The pokemons behind him seemed to be having fun, as they were giggling and cheering them both.

she totally wasn't staring at his muscles, good god the man was built like a tauros. She squinted at him though, entering the diva's realm and then taunting her like this? Well, Melody had ways to deal with it. "Very well then, I hope you know that means I'm not gonna hold back then." she grinned as her employees watched in horror as they knew exactly what was going to come next. [break][break]

"Very well then, hope you know what you just unleashed on yourself!" she shouted as she grinned as z energy began to swirl around her and Primarina and her other Pokémon scattered to the winds as he z moves affected every single Pokémon in the vicinity as they usually all got swept up in the move as well. The floor opened up part way as water began to surge from the ocean to primarina's side as musical notes began to form out of it. "Crashing Crescendo!" she called out as a barrage of sound and water began to assault balder and his team. [break][break]

This move is treated as a sound move and prevents all pokemon who hear it from using sound moves for three turns.

"Hope you know what you just unleashed on yourself." Big words, but can she own up to them? The usage of a Z-Move did seem to indicate she was going all-in on this one. Balder could most likely take the hit just fine but... There was something he wanted to do. Something different from usual. "Cub, you're up."[break][break]

The little ice bear advanced forward to stand before the man, only a few steps before him. "Sync up. We're doing like we practiced." After a nod from the ice bear, the show started. Both of them jumped slightly before planting their feet solidly on the ground. Hands extended forward, both released a breath, surprisingly visible, as if the air had gotten colder around them. A white transparent aura began to surround the two of them, connecting them with a bright link.[break][break]

From the viewpoint of the gym Leader, who's used to using Z-Moves (?), she would be able to notice that this wasn't anything normal. Completely different from how she and any other trainers normally use Z-Moves.[break][break]

As the energy finished surrounding them, Balder crossed his arms overhead, as did the Cubchoo, before separating them rapidly and finishing the movement with his arms extended on both sides, as if he was T-Posing for dominance (If it wasn't for him being anchored on the ground and legs spread to hold him properly). The Pose was complete.[break][break]

The Cubchoo howled as a small ring of ice rose around the team, barely reaching 2 feet high. "Unleash Subzero Hammer." A massive ray of frost energy, bigger then even Balder, was shot towards the the incoming Crashing Crescendo, attempting to freeze it in it's trajectory and possibly send it back.[break]

Notes: Z-Pose used, Subzero Hamer used to attempt to freeze and push back the opposing Z-Move. (Also thank you work for being so damn slow today)

Eh?! This guy all of a sudden went off and used a z-move too?! Melody was surprised, well, pleasantly surprised at the fact that such a small little Pokémon could even do it was a very good feat! He obviously trained it a lot. She grinned as her move was stopped by the new z move, the arena visibly got chilly as frost began to grow on the sides of the arena and her Pokémon shivered from the sidelines as they came back towards her, a new team?! [break][break]

"Nice one!" she shouts as she pumped a fist into the air "Hell yeah! I love this! A challenger I can finally stop holding back against!" she grinned as Rillaboom made his way onto the stage wearing a mega charm and the music in the gym suddenly exploded in it's level of sound "But I don't think any of your Pokémon can mega right?" she tells him as it was clear what her next move was going to be. "Lets go guys! MOSH PIT!" she ordered as her other pokemon rushed off of the stage towards his team as Rillaboom suddenly mega evolved. [break][break]

The frost that was permeating from cubchoo's ice z move cracked and splintered as greenery suddenly began to over take the field and Melody's rillaboom grew in size, especially his drum kit "Let's go guys! Airpod boom burst with your infiltrator! Toxtricities, swagger and overdrive! Lapras and primarina Sparkling aria! And lastly, rillaboom! G-MAX DRUM SOLO!" She shouted as she kicked it up a notch and all the attacks focused in on balder's pokemon again, would he be able to defend them all if her team was surrounding him slowly?

"You're right, this team can't... But I can." Upon these words, Balder's hair ignited, unleashing rays of light as they began to imitate a longer haircut going down his back. The man's chest and skin began to glisten, giving a small glow around his body. As the transformation completed the first stage, Balder proceeded to grab a pokeball from his belt. Dark in color, the insignia of a shield in a purple shade was embedded into it.[break][break]

"Alright Tate, it's time to emerge." The pokeball opened, unleashing a beam, not of light, but of what seemed to be darkness. From the shadows created by the beam, a semi-crystalized Shieldon appeared. Without any order, the creature knew what it had to do, as it raised a massive protect before Balder and the rest of the team to block the incoming G-Move.[break][break]

On the Joltik and Totodile side, things were being... chaotic. While the water pokemon was being chaotic and jumping around at the prospect of fighting, the small spider-like creature was concerned about their odds. Yet, it decided to go head-on against the Toxtricity that was using the Overdrive. Firing an Electroweb to dampen the assault, the creature tanked the hit, feeling less damage due to its electric type. The totodile, under the swagger effect, started using Hydro Pump to attack, but collapsed as it was shooting water, hitting itself in the confusion.[break][break]

Against the Sparkling Arias, Carbink couldn't help but raise a Light Screen to dampen the assault, but Cubchoo wasn't going the pacifist route. Aiming for the Lapras, it unleashed its Frost Breath to clash with the Arias, and hopefully break through to damage them with a critical hit as the bear suffered the damage.[break]

Notes: Balder "Mega Evolves", the light coming from him might blind Melody or her team (Up to you).[break]
Summons Shadow Shieldon, who uses Protect to block the G-Move. This Protect is stronger than regular due to shadow powers.[break]
Joltik uses Electroweb to dampen the Overdrive attack and takes the remaining damage.[break]
Totodile hits itself in its confusion due to Swagger.[break]
Carbink raises a Light Screen for the team.[break]
Cubchoo fires a Frost Breath (Critical Hit guaranteed) to clash with the Sparkling Arias and damage one of the two.

Huh? Everything else was going rather swimmingly until a critical error was made. The Cubchoo who used a z-move earlier had used a frost breath, yet however he did a little too much effort into that attack, the frost breath it used was too strong and actually nailed Melody's primarina and damaged it. [break][break]

The music suddenly stopped with a record scratch as all of melody's Pokémon stopped and walked back towards the stage and rilaboom's mega evolution was disabled. They knew what that sound made and Melody let out a small sigh. "Welp that's that I guess." she said cheekily as she plopped her ass right back down on the edge of the stage. "You just failed the challenge, mr...?" she asked still unsure of what his name was. [break][break]

Once a name was given Melody would explain "There was only one rule on this challenge and you just broke it, You cannot attack or cause damage to the gym Leader's Pokémon during this challenge. she said waggling her finger at him. It was a shame too, he was doing pretty well. "Buttt while you're still here, how did ya do all of that?" she asked him "How'd you block my z move?" she asked him.

The defense was going well so far... Until Cubchoo's attack struck the opposing pokemon and the music stopped. Balder immediately recalled the Shadow Shieldon before the Gym Leader could notice it properly. Then, a sigh followed as the light and energy died from around his body. "Guess that's what happens when you build a quick team to try something."[break][break]

In the end, the test he wanted to produce had been successful. His defensive shell was still able to withstand attacks, and the power of the Z-Pose was also absolute. The original purpose was done. As he started to call back the rest of the team, the gym leader approached him, asking how he stopped the Z-Move her team produced.[break][break]

The man proceeded to point at his feet. He hadn't moved from the spot. "Sadly, as I said earlier, I'm not going to reveal anything as you didn't succeed in making me move from this spot. But I can tell you one thing about what you're asking: It's something you know, yet is completely different."

She crossed her arms, this simply wont do will it? He was certainly an interesting trainer, he had strange abilities from what she had seen and experienced herself. He also did amazingly well during the battle itself, his cubchoo seemed to have poor control to hold back during it's attack.."Hmmmm...This simply wont do!" she said crossing her arms and closing her eyes as she thought. [break][break]

She said protesting this ending for the challenge, yet he managed to lure her back in with his cryptic message. By this point Melody's connection to Cobalion wasn't enough to call him, but it was there. Is...is that what he had meant? What was doing seemed to be a super human feat...She was puzzled on what to do before suddenly a decision was made. "I've made my decision!" she declared out loud as she scared her pokemon with her declaration. [break][break]

"Promise to teach me how to do it and..." she said lifting up her badge. "You can earn my badge!" she grinned at him, she wanted to test something. "Doesn't seem like that bad of a deal right?"
