in the center of their path is a dratini. jayden pauses, considering.

[break][break] after their loss with siobhan burke , this might be a good opportunity to test her merit.

[break][break] they had to make them worth battling, after all. light swirls around his inkay before a beam of light encircles the dratini. power swells in the dratini's form like nothing else, and excitement can be gleamed from the dragon-type's gaze, before rapidly being replaced with confusion.

[break][break] give them a taste. then take it back.

[break][break] isn't that how rocket trained their new recruits?

[break][break] "now, night slash."

[break][break] as the dratini is beside itself with fury and confusion, unable to make sense of the world around them, two shadow-infused knives slam down onto the dratini. it lets out a squeal of protest, but inkay does not relent, letting down another night slash until the pokemon is turned over, spent.

[break][break] jayden throws a pokeball. it would be for good use, later.

the sphere feels warm against his grip as it rolls to him. the boy leans over and clips it to his belt, deciding to move on.

[break][break] he gives a small nod in the inkay's direction. "let's go."

[break][break] soon enough, they are met with a small cliff. jayden is quick to jump and scale the cliff, fingers gripping the rocky surface as he heaves himself up higher. out of the corner of his eye, he notices some clobbopus boxing on a nearby cliff. they are so engrossed in their own tactics that they don't seem to notice jayden, or his inkay.

[break][break] not that the rocket pays them any mind, as he pulls himself over the edge. he heaves a few breaths. anya has no such issues, easily floating above and beyond. wistful.

"KI!" His Inkay lets out a cry, and Jayden jerks his head up.

[break][break] A beam of colorful light spirals by him, just as her jerks his head to the side. It's a wild Inkay, not at all unlike Jayden's own. There was just something about Inkay that were whimsical... he couldn't help himself.

[break][break] "Anya," he says, rolling up his sleeves. "Hypnosis." Rings of colorful light float out from his Inkay and spiral towards the other. However, the wild one is too quick. She barrel-rolls to the side and lets out another beam of light.

[break][break] Ducking, Jayden gives one click under his tongue. Camouflage.

[break][break] A shimmer of light, as his pokemon disappears into thin air. Two clicks, one slightly longer than the other.

[break][break] As the wild pokemon twists around, bewildered where her opponent went, Anya reappears again, this time fins shrouded in darkness. She slashes down on the Inkay, knocking her out of the air.

[break][break] As she's spiraling, Jayden throws a pokeball.

[break][break] the pokeball drops from the air and lands in jayden's palm, who clips it to his belt. "good job," he tells the inkay. anya trills happily, always eager to get praise from her master. it happens rarely, which makes all that better when it does.

[break][break] the rocket continues down the landscape of the rocky terrain, watching as the hard rock breaks away to salty sea air and cool forests. his head glances between the direction of the forest and then of the sea — he chooses the ladder.

[break][break] after leaping down the outcrop and onto the sand, he finds a beached whale.

[break][break] concern lights jayden's eyes as he drops down to inspect him. the pokemon is still breathing, but there is caged wire around it's body. flashing out a dagger, jayden cuts through it and looks to his inkay. "hypnosis."

[break][break] better put the pokemon to sleep first to ease the pain.

[break][break] he presses a pokeball to his torso seconds after.

the pokemon is enveloped with red light and returned to his belt.

[break][break] jayden isn't a ranger, and he's certainly not the type of person to take more than his means. however, he knows when a pokemon is in need of help and the barbed wire has likely done more damage to the pokemon than a normal person can tell at first glance. he'll be sure to show the results to Victor Wexler , who likely has more expertise in the area than he does.

[break][break] the dark-haired boy pushes his hands against his thighs to stand, only noticing the school of wishiwashi floating in the depths of the ocean. the pokemon seem healthy, though, and jayden is not aware of any interest rocket would have in such creatures, so he moves on.

[break][break] a hand in the air, he beckons his inkay to follow.

the wimpod goes skittering against the sand, and jayden almost steps on one. he's not that interested in it though, and so he lets it disappear back into the water.

[break][break] his violet gaze follows his inkay's translucent form as it floats towards the forest proper.
