sam thinks back on what he left, thinks back on the calls he's made to his mother asking her how things were. business was usual, though not in a negative light. things hadn't exactly calmed down, but people were still fighting a war in a sense.

"rocket's claims are that they have a foothold. it's not entirely inaccurate. there are instances where it seems all hope is lost, but there is a reason johto is still standing."

because nobody had just given up. because johto was a last stand.

"i'm not personally sure what the region is like, a lot can change in a few month's time," the few months that sam had been in hoenn. "but when i call to speak with my mother who works at the pokémon tower, she seems well. i have to trust that she is well, considering."

it wasn't exactly great news, but that was the only news he could offer.

All in all, he couldn't really gain much insight on Kanto's situation. He also didn't know how to feel about what he had heard. There was the slightest implication that things might not have been as bad as he thought, even if the Pokemon Tower was considered neutral ground.

Should he be happy about that...?

"Thank ya kindly." The youth said with a sigh, scratching at the back of his head before reaching into his pocket.

A shiny little badge was produced, the youth flicking it from one finger to the next with some deft sleigh of hand, considering carefully.

"Say- How about another round?" He said casually, grinning at the man as he held up the shiny trinket. "I'm sure you'll be more willing to try harder with this as a prize."

Had to spread them around for FERNANDO SILPH's sake, after all!
