Fluffy white clouds partially hid the sun as a warm breeze curled through the Verdanturf Town and wound through the outer edges that marked the transition from town to route. Not far away, a child's laughter could be heard followed by a thump then the sound of crying. Further in the distance, a trainer called out for her Pidgey. Repeatedly. They were peaceful, ordinary, sounds that filled the normally calm atmosphere of Verdanturf Town and it's surroundings. [break][break]

And they were surely a sharp contrast to the loud SCREECHING that currently filled the ears of wanna-be Head Ranger, Caroline Foster. A massive Talonflame screamed from its nesting perch upon the telephone pole with one could only assume were sharp profanities. Caroline had to shield her eyes as she stared, unfaltering, back into the eyes of the furious creature. "If you don't come down here, I'm gonna have to go up there!" She was calling as two little Fletchlings peeked over the edge of their nest in curiosity.[break][break]

The SCREECHING continued and Caroline, gaze dropping, released a drawn out sight. "Never have to make it easy, huh?" She'd already tried convincing the territorial Talonflame with a brief visit from Kruella, her Crobat, but the creature had remained unmoving. "Guess we gotta do this the hard way, don't we, ya little Verdanturf Terror." Both her knuckles were cracked as she positioned her arms tightly around the telephone pole.[break][break]

Then, she began to climb.

Bird-related problems were Alexei’s specialty.

So when he was called down to handle some pesky little avian trouble near Verdanturf, he made his way over there as quickly as he could manage.

Eventually, he’d arrive to see someone already climbing a telephone pole—and as his gaze traveled upward, the telephone pole revealed an angry-looking Talonflame screaming profanities at any who would dare approach.

“Whoa, uh—” he called out, trying to call the young woman’s attention.

“You—you might want to get down from there. That’s one angry customer you have up there,” he continued, waving his arm at the other, a desperate attempt to call her down.

Because if there was one thing he was certain about—Talonflame rarely got angry unless there was a good reason. And he had a suspicion about why this one was screaming so loudly for everyone to hear within the nearby vicinity.

Talonflame's screeches grew louder and more chaotic as Caroline haphazardly pulled herself up the wooden pole. It drowned out the call of attention that rose from the ground. In hindsight, impulsivity may not have been the best solution. Once she reached the top, she'd have to climb into the nest and, well...[break][break]

A blast of heat flashed past Caroline's head and she let out a gasp of surprise. Her foot slipped from its placehold and she crashed to the ground. That's gonna leave a mark. She blinked up to the sky, only now seeing the blonde headed boy. "Oh, h-hey. Nothing to see here. I've got this all under control." [break][break]

Was that the sound of bird-like laughter she heard?
