With neither Glameow displaying an interest in returning the bag, the Grimmsnarl finally leaped into the tree and grabbed the bag. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy - simple as that, it seems. The male Glameow had finally managed to pull his friend back to safety and they both glared down upon the humans with slanted eyes. Neither, however, made any move to retrieve the bag.[break][break]

"Come on, you two. I would have shared some of the treats if you had just asked." Caroline said as she reached for her bag and pulled out a small pouch with a variety of colorful square treats. "You bugging me today, but -" Caroline placed a small handful of the treats at the bottom of the tree before turning to Danny.[break][break]

"Hey, thanks so much for helping me out. The one time I haven't got any of my helpful Pokemon with me and you came around to save my ass. I really owe you one. I'd love to buy you some lunch some time in exchange for your help."

Caroline took the card from the other League member, turning it in her hand before she rapidly shook her head. She waved the card. [break][break]

"Woah, no way. I couldn't take this. My family has money, we can afford hospital bills. I'd rather you be giving something like this to someone who really needs it."

She extended the card back to the man as the boat began to slow its approach onto land.

Caroline can barely suppress a snort of laughter when the Grimmsnarl appeared in a flash of light. She'd never seen one before and as 'mean' as she's sure the species is intended, she couldn't get over the quirky face staring up into the tree. "Never seen one of those in person." Caroline states.[break][break]

She watches as the Grimmsnarl reaches up into the tree and the two Glameow erupt into hissing and growling. One of them, the bigger Glameow, swipes unsheathed claws at the hair, but it's not enough. The spike of hair knocks her off the branch and she's suddenly scrambling to pull herself back up with hanging hind legs. The other Glameow is staring at her friend with wide and fearful eyes.[break][break]

"Your friend will be okay if you can just give me back that bag." Caroline called up into the tree, but her words seem to go unnoticed as the male Glameow grabs at his friend and tries to pull her back into the tree.

"Yeah. Easy." Up ahead, she can see the migratory destination of the Corsola. It seems like their travels would be, for the most part, uneventful and safe. Even the Corsola attacked by the Sharpedo seemed relatively unphased by the Sharpedo. "Seems like we're almost done." She turned and leaned against the banister of the boat.[break][break]

She suddenly remembers her unanswered question from earlier. "Oh, you mentioned some advancements in medicine and other things. Do you work as a doctor?" She might as well get an answer before their boat docked on the approaching shore.

Both trainers stared up into the tree of hissing and taunting Glameow. "I'd also climb up there, but I've had some pretty bad luck climbing things lately." She still had a bruise from falling off the light pole a week ago. "I'm not much of a Mankey." She continued to think. [break][break]

"You got a stick or something? Or like... I dunno, a bird? I only got my Pidgey, but I'm pretty sure those Glameow would tear her apart."

If Caroline hadn't been distracted by the sudden war, she most definitely would have commented on the adorable Cotton Candy name. As it was, her attention was solely focused to the settling waves where her Kingdra had dove beneath the surface. [break][break]

Suddenly, the ocean explodes in a shock of energy as the Sharpedo is launched into the sky by a shimmering purple breath. Lady Cecilia had used DRAGON BREATH and, aided by Cotton Candy's helping hand, it had dealt some serious damage to the Sharpedo. It fell back to the ocean surface with a belly-aching slap[. Cece didn't wait for the dazed Sharpedo to find its bearings, forcefully bumping into the shark again and again. [break][break]

"Wow, I'm shocked." Caroline stared across the waves and then to Rory, "I knew she was a good guard, but I've never seen her get so protective. I feel like dead weight just standing here." She let out a short laugh.[break][break]

Caroline had expected the battle to last longer than the few minutes it did, but it was only a matter of time before the Sharpedo fled and Cece was circling the wounded Corsola and gathering up the scattered migrators. The big scare was hardly more than a light inconvenience.

Leaning down from her Rapidash, a smile formed across Caroline's lips as she stared at the picture on Kee's phone. In each one of them, she could see the similarities in eyes, nose, and hair. It was a privilege taken for granted by many, but one she would never be granted with. She had, after all, never met her the birth parents who had tossed her aside many years ago. "That heterochromia thing runs in your family, huh? That's pretty awesome. I've neve' seen it on a person before. Though we got a dog here with it." [break][break]

The smallest Ponyta in the field trotted up to the fence with a twist and shake of her fiery mane. She stretched her neck and flared her nostrils at them as they passed. "A Granbull and Wigglytuff? Well, I hope everyone will be doing fine by the time you see them again!" A silent ten seconds passed before her Rapidash's heavy hooves came to a quick stop. Echo, the Lycanroc, was trotting off towards the barn. Devon stopped beside Daisy. The group stood before a large farm house straight from a story book, with a faded red door and a rusty wind chime ringing in the wind. "Well, we made it! Thank you so much for your help, Keenan!" She effortlessly hopped down from Daisy, who rested her head on Caroline's shoulder as she continued to speak. "Once I get this stuff put away, come on in for some food! My mom has some homegrown tomatoes that are to dieeee for. Actually - I can give you some to take to your brothers, too! It's the least I can do because you helped me out. And you seem pretty nice. You should bring your siblings on over here some time."

Caroline questioned with a tilt of her head, but just as the final word slipped from her mouth, a sudden commotion shook waves across the ocean. A massive Sharpedo burst from beneath the surface and grasped one of the Corsola in its jaws.[break][break]

Cece acted before Caroline could get the next words out of her mouth, darting beneath the water in fast pursuit as the other Corsola scattered. Caroline gripped the side banister of the boat. "Oh hell naw, I've never seen a Sharpedo that huge."

There was fortune in the fact that Caroline somehow lacked the ability to feel embarrassment. Falling off a bucking Rapidash five times in one day could do that to a woman. [break][break]

She leaped to her feet, rejuvenated by the approach of a dark-haired man. "Aww, hell. It's gonna leave a mark, but I'm fine. I'm more worried about the bag those jerks snatched up. I got important shit up in there."[break][break]

A bit unsteady from her fall, Caroline's mind began to clear as she approached the tree and placed a hand on the warm bark and glared up into the branches. "Hey, jeeeerks, there's not any food in that bag if that's what you're looking for." She looked at the man, "Hi, I'm Caroline. Y' don't look busy. Wanna give me a hand here?"

Her arms were full of supplies. She wasn't particularly looking where she was walking. She didn't see the Glameow darting underfoot, wrapping its tail around her legs and yanking her feet from under her. Nor did she realize what was happening when another Glameow rushed forward, grabbed the bag of supplies she'd dropped, and bolted.[break][break]

In fact, for a moment, her mind was too dazed by the rock she'd smacked on the way down that Caroline didn't do anything except lay on the ground and stare into the sky listening to the nearby tree rustle as both Glameow scramble up into the branches. [break][break]

If question marks were a facial emotion, Caroline was feeling that right now.

A streak of moonlight broke through the clouds, its light cast away by the bright city lights of Slateport City. Caroline hated coming to the city, it's giant metal trees a stark contrast to the fresh-scented natural view of the forest. The streets were too crowded to allow her Pokemon to roam free, as she preferred. However, duty called and Caroline had received a notification from a nearby ranger that they'd noticed a seemingly injured Houndour with matted fur and bloody paw roaming the city. The locals weren't fans.[break][break]

"How is anyone supposed to find anything in this Arceus forsaken place?" Caroline fumed, having arrived in the morning and still searching for her target Pokemon. She rounded a corner of the dark alley, dim light settling down from an overhead window. Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the alley and a Houndour leaped from behind the trash can with a small, limp Dedenne clamped firmly in its jaws. The moment it caught sight of Caroline, its eyes opened wide and its paws scrambled underneath as it bolted in the opposite direction.[break][break]

"Wait!" Caroline broke into a sprint as the Houndour leaped over fallen trash cans and haphazardly placed piles of trash. Less skillfully, Caroline followed. "I just want to help you!"
