Mars didn’t care much for standing out in the ranks of Team Rocket. In fact, he had actively avoided it for a year since he had first joined. But, he did pride himself on being well-informed, and a part of that was knowing who was who in the hierarchy of the criminal organization to which he belonged (second criminal organization to which he belonged, actually, but let’s not speak of the first one).

He knew who Siobhan Burke was. And, while he was here in an official capacity as Martín del Mar, Piazza Oro Grande Bank’s proud CEO, he did smile when the woman approached. ”Hey.” He pulled off the glasses that were part of the Martín del Mar get up, running fingers through his soft brunette hair. ”Sure, I have some free time anyways.”

A battle that wasn’t a PR stunt on his part could be fun, even if most of his team was currently resting after a long day of matches and challenges.

”Classic one versus one, or do you fancy a more unique format?”

“Rotantion, huh? That could be fun.” With a smirk, he went along with her, taking his place at the opposite end of the arena as he considered what pokémon to involve in this battle. For the most part, his healthy reserves who’ve yet to fight didn’t do all that well on land, so while exhausted after a long day of battles and challenges, he chose to trust that three of his regulars could handle one more fight. They were the following:

Melpomene, a Glaceon that was quick to step forward.

Ezzelin, a Sylveon that stayed close behind.
[break][break]
Erato, a huge Milotic that floated up above as she waited for her turn in the fight.
[break][break]
”You can take the first move when your pokémon are ready, then we’ll see about those drinks.” With this, Mars grinned.

A good choice to start off with, especially in this kind of battle, but even Protect couldn’t shield pokémon from everything. Notably not damage caused by status effects and weather…

He smiled, calm. ”Hail.”

At this word, the Glaceon’s eyes began to glow, a gust of cold air being released from her body and causing snow to fall.

It would damage two of his own pokémon for now, sure, but that was a risk Mars was willing to take for the sake of having a more interesting battle.

”Ah, much better, right? This heat is starting to get a bit ridiculous.”

”Autumn, huh? I could see that. Always been a Summer person myself, but we all need ways to deal with the heat, don’t we?”

While paying close attention, he appeared unbothered by the match, his expression barely changing when the Glaceon didn’t manage to completely avoid the Corviknight’s attack. This was to be expected considering how many battles she had been in that day, and what came next was also something that could have easily been predicted if knowing Ezzelin well…

The Sylveon was angered by seeing Melpomene get hurt, and growling menacingly, he summoned a MOONBLAST that was bound to hit both the Corviknight and whatever pokémon was closest. It wouldn’t do much against the Flying and Steel type, sure, but could the same be said about its teammates?

Hail continued to fall, damaging all pokémon except for Melpomene.

Flamethrower was aimed at the Sylveon, but the pokemon was quick to jump back, the Milotic putting herself between him and the flames – ever one to be unafraid of fire. Naturally, it caused a BURN, but her MARVEL SCALES shimmered under the fire, becoming harder and protecting her from damage.

Now it was Mars’ turn, and he smiled at Siobhan, not needing to say a single word for the Milotic to use HYDRO PUMP and direct the highly-pressured jet of water towards the lizard.

Type advantages were always annoying, but Erato also wasn’t a pokémon that went down easy. Giga Drain hit and left its mark, and best believe she sure would remember it for when it was once again her turn to attack.

It was Melpomene’s turn now though. And Melpomene was… Well, she growled at their opponents, her fur spiking up into tiny icicles.

In the remnants of the Hail, she summoned a powerful BLIZZARD, the move being sure to hit her opponents and perhaps even freeze them.

Summer? Where’s the summer here?

Since we’re getting near the end of this, it’s time to start fainting some pokémon.

It should have come as no surprise if they did faint though. It was an exhausting battle, and between the raging hail and all the moves that managed to hit multiple targets, just about every pokémon in the field had had its health being slowly chipped away.

Even the Glaceon, who was immune to the damage caused by the ice around them.
[break][break]

If Mars had any reaction to this, he didn’t show it – simply calling her back to her pokéball just in time for the Sylveon to aim an angry MOONBLAST at the Sinestea and everything around it.
