He'd arrive to the match with Riolu on his shoulder and a very irate-looking Lycanroc bounding between rocky platforms and growling at the water as if daring it to encroach upon its paws.

Only two Pokemon for a triple battle? Not quite.

His Dhelmise rises from the deep, its eye-like compass spinning as it breaches the surface.

"You can take first move."

Riolu hops down from his shoulder to join the Lycanroc, Dhelmise lurking in wait.

HE brought two land-locked ones and one swimmer, interesting. That would be something more tactical, Eve could already tell that much. But for now, she just courtly nodded with a faint smile. Just because this man had decided to forego manners did not mean that she had to, as well. “I am Evette, by the way. And my first move is to make it rain.”

Right on cue, the Lapras would begin to cast a Rain Dance, causing the watery goodness to also come from above, as soon as Eve was out of range of the move itself. Remoraid, in the meantime, would take the cue and fire an Octazooka from the distance at the Lycanroc. Eve then nodded to the Zorua besides her, which hopped onto the nearest island, still a good ways away from the enemy team, and started with agility to bolster itself and to dodge the probably incoming attacks.

"Liam King."

He returns the nod, curt.

He doesn't seem bothered by the rain that begins to fall; on the contrary, he seems comfortable as the droplets spatter against his skin and soak his clothes. Lycanroc is decidedly less enthused. With NO GUARD, there's no dodging the blast of water fired by Remoraid.

There's a horrible grating sound as its long claws dig against the rock for purchase. The water in its eyes might've reduced the accuracy of another but the werewolf launches itself toward Remoraid with reckless abandon and LASHES OUT in return. It plunges into the water without hesitation; it's a dog, after all, knows how to swim even if it loathes the water.

Dhelmise targets Lapras with its ANCHOR SHOT; ordinarily, the spectral anchors liked to hunt prey the size of Wailord, but the largest opponent of Evette Moreau's three would have to do.

Riolu COPYCATS the OCTAZOOKA, firing it toward the distant Zorua.

Ah, well, at least she had a name. Did not seem like she would get much of a conversation out of this, but alas. It would have to make do, really. A name already meant a lot, even if there was a chance of it being fake. Heck, especially if it was fake. Anyone calling themselves King had something to prove, most likely.

“Very well then, Liam King,” she said, probably mostly to herself, whilst the Pokemon battled. It was too hectic for the moment to do much in terms of supervision, but that was fine for the time being. The Lapras was grazed by the Anchor Shot, injured slightly, but reacted by doing what it could to dissuade the other party – namely, she started up her Perish Song, so at the very least, she would not be knocked out alone.

Remoraid, in the meantime, simply starts swimming away from the Lycanroc. A dog with swimming ability it might be, but it would have difficulty keeping up with the small and sleek fish. Eventually, the Lycanroc would have to come back for air, that was when it would strike.
The Zorua, meanwhile, had used its agility to dodge the attack. And since there was nothing left being flung around for the Riolu to copy, it instead stayed on its platform, perfoming Nasty Plot while the other would likely have to come for it.

Gavin laughs, incredulous.

"Trying to force a draw?"

Perish Song would take out all of their Pokemon at the end of its count.

Well, then, they were just going to have to play rough in the meantime and faint as many as they could. Lycanroc, perhaps to the woman's surprise, would eagerly dive beneath the water in pursuit of the slippery fish. The waters here were shallow enough to allow for their rocky platforms to stick out above the water — shallow enough that when the werewolf glows with sudden energy, SPLINTERED STORMSHARDS of rock erupt from below to spear its unwitting opponent.

Gavin clicks his tongue and Dhelmise SWITCHES places with its underwater ALLY, leaving Lycanroc soaked and bobbing on the surface of the water and Dhelmise lurking beneath.

Riolu leaps across platforms to jump and assault Lapras with METAL CLAWS.

“It will only be a draw if neither of us wins until then,” she replied, smirking. It was a bit of a dangerous ploy, but she could already tell that his team was more offensively powerful, with being able to call forth spikes underwater and such. Remoraid dodged most of those, only being grazed a little bit, but otherwise, it was fine – and it turned to fire a Psybeam at its attacker.

Similarly, Lapras used the brief interrupted from the switching of places to prepare an attack of its own, using Brine on the waters around it in self-defense of sorts, against both the Lycanroc and the incoming Riolu. Zorua, in the meantime, continued to Nasty Plot, for no one was engaging it right then. It probably should do something soon, but the situation did not quite call for it yet, the little one estimated.

"Good thing I intend to win, then."

Lycanroc and Dhelmise were two of his best.

Riolu was their weakest link, still little more than a puppy, but she follows the directions of Gavin's whistles and clicks to COPYCAT the BRINE and weaponize the seas around the rock on which Zorua stands.

Wincing from the psychic assault, Lycanroc too focuses its attention on the Zorua. ROCK SLIDE would seek to shatter the platform upon which it stood and send it into the briny waters tossed about by Riolu.

“That is, well, surprising would be the wrong word,” she replied, smirking. Obviously, he was trying to win. Who wasn’t, in a Pokemon battle? The only people she could think of were those who might get paid with some reward outside the tournament to throw a fight, probably being led into some spiral of nefarious deeds and probably ending up in prison where they might get shiv’ed to death.

Wow, that went dark quickly. And a bit meta, too. Best back to the fight at hand. Here, The Zorua was taking this cue to start running and to jump off of the little rock it had been on, instead seeking to get to Riolu’s little island to bring the fight to it with some Night Gaze. That, incidentally and accidentally helped it escape the shattering of the stage.
Lapras, meanwhile, takes the opportunity while not being focused to send some green sparkles to its allies, Life Dew healing all of them, while Remoraid, wincing from the Gigadrain, sent another Psybeam at the ghastly anchor beneath the waves.

A scattering of Life Dew decides their focus. They've got to end this fight quick.

Gavin whistles, sharp, and gestures for Lapras.

Lycanroc goes in for some CLOSE COMBAT as Dhelmise seeks to recover its own health with a GIGA DRAIN. Riolu COPIES the Dhelmise, sickly green particles of energy swirling around their largest foe in threatening fashion.

The Remoraid is renewed from the Life Dew, continuing its assault on the Dhelmise with an Octazooka this time, seeking to keep it from assaulting the Lapras, which has now become the center of attention.

Of course it had. That was the fate of healers. However, Zorua’s Night Dace was throwing off the Riolu’s aim and the Lapras itself sent out a Water Pulse in the hopes of pushing away the Lycanrock. In the meantime, Zorua used Imprison on the Riolu, trying to shut it down. That way, the pressure on the Lapras might be a bit relieved, for it was certainly imperilled in that moment.

As the eerie perish song fades, Gavin expects the battle to end.

He can't say whether it's luck or misfortunate, but two of their Pokemon remain. Haggard, snarling, soaked through its rocky fur, Lycanroc continues to prowl along the edge of the largest platform and stare into the water.

Its attention is on Remoraid, who also remained standing. Well, swimming.

Lycanroc huffs and plunges back into the water, lashing out with its claws. It's been taught how to PLAY ROUGH, even in a rough match-up.

Tabula Rasa. Well, Tabula almost Rasa, but that always been the point. Soundproof protected Pokemon from Perish Song, so she had figured that other means of not hearing it would, too. Which, in this case, meant that both Remoraid and Lycanroc, both too far away from the source and underwater, had not been affected. A real pro move, one could say. Only she had not actually known it would work out this way, just mostly hoped it would. This wasn’t exactly the kind of thing she could easily test on her own.

Yet, trainers did not faint either, even though Perish Song affected humans. So there had been a basis for her theory. And besides, the worst that could happen here was a draw, so there was that.
But now, it had been reduced to a one on one, with Lycanroc jumping back into the waters. The little fish got punched, but it stayed close in the hopes that it could manage to hit the Lycanroc with its Hydropump and push it straight back out of the waters.

He'd have had this match in the bag if his Dhelmise had avoided the Perish Song, but—

Lycanroc's NO GUARD ensures an inability to dodge the hydro pump that slams into its flank. It's not only thrown out of the water but straight into the rocky platform, knocking it unconscious as its skull slams into stone.

Gavin grimaces at the sight, recalling it.

"What the hell are you feeding that Remoraid?"

Pretty impressive that it had withstood so much. He doesn't seem bothered by the loss despite earlier bravado.
