stopping a random person on the beach, he says:

Apparently many trainers were begining to feel a bit if a burn out. So other ways to compete were being made to help keep the competitions fresh and going. One of the apparently being a course to run along. He studies the course. Before he hears someone try for his attention. [Break][break]

Now he knows he's a jokester, but it would be good to exercise himself a bit. Pokemon couldn't do everything in the end, "Why not?" he agrees eventually as he goes look into the course. Apparently it was a bit of a battle royal, and mimicking the pokeathlon of last year where it required one pokemon for you to be with, but this time rather than working together you worked against one another. "Seems simple enough," for now he picks his pokemon and waits at the starting line.

the obstacle course definitely looks...interesting. danny's only just got a good look at it and he's actually second-guessing his decision to participate. the thought of tripping and embarrassing himself is...a bit much.

but he calls out a pokemon regardless.

'Llyod' just shrugs in an uncaring manner, he still isn't 100% sure about this whole race thing. Though it wasn't like he couldn't use the exercise. Arriving at the starting whistle he notices the other trainers doing a move to try and up their pokemon's speed, but with a whistle of his own Seviper uses HAZE. [break][break]

Not just to get rid of that, but also disorientate the group as they go forward.

danny takes off into a sprint alongside his grimmsnarl, who immediately leaps ahead to throw a POWER-UP PUNCH into the first barrier. they break through easily.

It seems this race is similar to that of the Strength Obstacle courses akin to last year's summer event. Seems like he picked the wrong pokemon for this. Especially as a stone wall comes up from the ground. It ends up taking multiple NIGHT SLASHs to cut through for them to continue.

[attr="class","danny"]danny definitely picked the right pokemon for this strength course. they pass through the first barrier with ease, but the second one soon approaches and this one looks much thicker.

"harder this time, grimster!"

no more POWER-UP PUNCH but rather a HAMMER ARM that swings through, breaking the barrier into half.

"Go through the opening," Raphael orders and for now they follow along with those ahead of him in their wake, taking advantage of their strengths. When they get close to one Seviper uses GLARE to paralyze them in place. Thats one NPC gone, now it was time to go after the others.

As the wet floor, Pryde is forced to slow down a bit, however the same could not be said for his Seviper. Not needing legs to run, tripping over itself was not a concern for it which allowed to them get make up a bit of time from being behind the others. Though it wasn't enough to completely catch up to the younger folk just yet seeing as the snake still had to wait for their trainer.

thankfully, grimmsnarl leaps forward to take the FIRE BLAST from a houndoom before returning a POWER-UP PUNCH to the fire-type, sending it into the water.

Any another one bites the dust as the other trainer is forced to try and help their houndoom from the water due to the young man's efforts. Seems like there was just them two now, just like it started. Seems like the other would win too if he didn't try something. So why not see how the other could deal with a little toxicity as Seviper uses VENOSHOCK on the fairy pokemon. [break][break]

See if it'll slow them enough for them to catch up.
