Battling so quickly afterwards is bound to fracture it again,” she sighs, letting the Riolu go, “The babies are fragile,” It’s just a fact, “Risking permanent damage can make evolution difficult,” She does her best to not sound like she’s lecturing him but the subject matter makes it difficult.

Who the heck organizes these matches? Do they think they are being funny?



He knows this. He's been pokemon battling for almost 3 decades now. He's had pokemon be injured dozens of times in the past.

So why had it come to this...? He was supposed to be looking after Raki, raising him in Michiko's stead. He was as close to a father as the puppy would ever get.

What even was his excuse- he was depressed? What a pathetic sad sack he turned out.

"Don't stop yourself." The man said bluntly as he grabbed at the bridge of his nose, brows furrowing. "It's my fault. I made completely irresponsible, idiotic oversight."

Ugh. She hates this – seeing him like this. It hurts, twisting her chest into a tight knot. A hand twitches as she suppresses the desire to reach out and comfort him with a gentle touch. She truly does still care for him, so she lets words try to comfort him instead, “He’s gonna be fine, Gwyar. It’s not your fault. He wanted to battle as much as you did,” she remembers Raki’s enthusiasm at the beginning of the battle, “The good news, is that he is a pup and they heal really fast! Try some cold compresses tonight and start with some warm ones tomorrow for the next few days. He’ll be good at new! Don’t beat yourself up about it,”

It was his fault; you didn't let children do stupid crap just because they really wanted to, and-

Ah. What is he even doing?

"... Thank you, doctor. I'll do just that." He said simply as he gently grasped Raki, cradling him in his arms. "Apologies for forcing you to work on your free day. I'll be sure to compensate you for your time in the future."

Bowing and smiling stiffly, the man turned on his heel and made for the exit.

If anything, it’s the formalities that cut the deepest. She doesn’t think he said her name once this entire time, just “Doctor”. Anyone who knows her at all knows she hates that. She returns his smile and bow with a small smile of her own and nod of her head, “Sure, any time,” Eva returns the Horsea and leaves for her next scheduled battle as well.
