Bo was tired. The tournament was drawing to a close soon, and he’d done pretty well—especially all things considered. Maybe he shouldn’t have still been in this thing. The guilt hung. But he needed this, and something told him that if Roman Maher was anywhere, he was here. There was way too much trouble to get into not to be.

He made his way to his next battle, eyes peeled all the way there, until they landed on his next opponent.

“Hi. How’s it goin’?”

It seemed like as the tournament was drawing to a close, everyone was trying to get in some last-minute battles. Cardamom had actually found himself a chair for this last one, since he'd been standing for quite some time the rest of the day. "Pretty good," he said. "A bit tired, but that doesn't mean we won't win!" He grinned determinedly as he selected the Pokeballs, sending out a pair of Dark-types. Nash pawed at the ground, snarling slightly, while Half-Moon stood impassively, arms crossed as she waited for their opponents to appear.

Bo managed a smile at his young opponent’s enthusiasm. He’d yet to battle any kids. This could be fun—although he wouldn’t be taking it easy on them.

Maybe he wouldn’t have to.

“Yeah? Guess we’ll see!” he called back, releasing his two giants to the field: a Golurk and Copperajah. They both eyed across the field, ready for battle.

“Want the first move?”

The Obstagoon nodded, staring hard at the Steel-type before raising her claws, making a "come get me" gesture as she Taunted it. At the same time, Nash went dashing across the field, heedless of his opponent's bulk compared to him as he rushed to Bite down on the looming Ghost-type.

Dark-types would prove a fierce match for the Golurk, but they would not go down easily.

Bo watched, assessing the kid’s strategies. So far, so good.

As the Absol came in close, Bo called out to assist with a suggestion knowingly:

“Golurk: FOCUS PUNCH.”

While the dark energy surrounding Absol's BITE did impressive damage to the giant, its fist went sailing straight into teeth anyways, fighting through.

Meanwhile, Copperajah needed no instruction. Emboldened by the 'come hither' TAUNT of Obstagoon, She headed straight for it, steely trunk rounding towards its body with IRON HEAD.

Half-Moon smirked as the Copperajah charged towards her, and drew one arm back. As soon as it rammed into her, she thrust that arm forward, delivering a Counter right at its face. Meanwhile, Nash was sent skidding backwards by the punch, grinding his teeth together as if he wanted to make sure they were still there. "You okay?" called Cardamom. "Keep that up, if you can!" Inclining his head in a slight nod, the brittle-bladed Absol charged in once more, teeth bared for yet another Bite.

Copperajah’s swing found purchase, only to be knocked right back even harder with a formidable COUNTER. However, the elephant’s mass kept it mostly weighted, and still close in range enough to retaliate right back with her opposing STRENGTH, lashing out again with her hard head.

When the Absol came in for another bite, Bo commanded again quickly, “PHANTOM FORCE.” With the distance it had created, Golurk was able to disappear mostly, the teeth of the canine’s BITE just barely finding the spectral form of the giant.

As the elephantine Pokemon came charging at her, Half-Moon executed the other half of her strategy-raising her arms again, this time crossing them to Obstruct the move, absorbing most of the force of the blow and leaving her opponent vulnerable. At this moment of impact, Cardamom quickly called out, "Nash, switch targets now!" With a growl, the Absol turned around, charging at the Copperajah instead to deliver a Bite that would hopefully hurt even more with the weakened defenses.

Bo raised brows and gave a nod as his Copperajah’s move was OBSTRUCTED. “Huh. Not bad, kid!” Perhaps it was the parent in him cheering this kid on.

Unfortunately, with defenses lowered, the elephant was made especially vulnerable—as she had no defensive moves. She was all offense. With nothing to further bolster her, she went all in. No use in running. As the teeth of BITE came over her ankle, her energy glowed, and large boulders rose from the sand, a ROLLOUT taking over the field, making it hazardous. With each hit, the damage would increase.

Copperajah had taken on much of her own, and cried out in pain. The Golurk answered, appearing out of PHANTOM FORCE to deliver the its damage on the Absol which had abandoned its spectral form. Perhaps it wouldn’t be that effective, but maybe it would be enough to shake the dog loose.

Well, that probably wasn't good. It was definitely only going to be a matter of time before they got hit. So despite the Golurk reappearing, Cardamom called out, "Focus on Copperajah! If it goes down, those rocks do too!" Nash was hit and knocked away, but ignored his attacker, focusing down on the Copperajah as he darted between the stones with a Pursuit, intent on hunting down his opponent, while Half-Moon simply raised her claws and brought them down in a Night Slash.

The opponents doubled up on the greatest thread—a good strategy. Bo watched, wondering if the two might be enough to bring down his strong Copperajah.

Not taking any chances of losing his teammate, Golurk opted for another assault in favor of boosting his defenses. Only time would tell if it was a poor decision. Another FOCUS PUNCH sailed for the Absol as it passed, hoping to do damage and knock it off course or diminish the damage of its PURSUIT on the Copperajah. Unfortunately, NIGHT SLASH hit, although a rolling rock came fast behind the Obstagoon—giving it (presumably) two options: move, or be crushed.

The ROLLOUT continued, boulders becoming heavier and more damaging as they seemed to draw sediment and power. Copperajah was still in it, though she finally bent at a knee.

Half-Moon's choice was to spin around to try and Obstruct the rolling rock again, but the fact that she had to turn almost 180 degrees to do so meant it still glanced off her, making her wince. Nash was knocked sideways again, turning his head to growl at the Golurk. "No!" called Cardamom. "Keep on that one opponent! They're almost down!" Nodding and tearing his gaze away, Nash charged in with teeth bared, ready to Bite at Copperajah again.

Copperajah’s ROLLOUT continued against the opponents again, even as she sank further towards the ground, not moving from the canine’s clamping jaw. It was working, but at what risk? The force of the rolling rock only increased—this time threefold from its original power.

As the Obstagoon was busy defending its partner, the unattended Golurk took the opportunity to throw a HAMMER ARM straight for its back.

Regardless of what happened, Copperajah would slump to the ground shortly after, FAINTED from her injuries. Bo would look impressed.

Before Copperajah could faint completely, another rock came rolling towards Nash. He tried to brace for it, but the sheer power made him release his jaws, letting out a yowl as he was bowled over, falling unconscious even as his opponent did as well. Half-Moon was preparing to face down the Golurk, but she didn't have enough time to prepare for its strike, which struck her right in the chest and made her skid backwards. However, she wasn't completely down yet. Her claws gleamed as she charged in, readying a Night Slash to tear as the earthen ghost's chest.
