TAMING THE HORSE

UPON RETURNING TO MT. PYRE, the same unnerving feeling of being watched returns. on this eerie mountain, your footsteps seemingly disappear in the mist that endlessly billows out from the earth. oddly enough, the time of day is obscured: it seems like you're in eternal night. this has never happened before and as you struggle to find a rational explanation for this phenomena, you instinctively hush yourself. a horse-like pokemon neighs in the distance. wreathed in spectral mists, a black equine pokemon hovers in midst the fog.

however, the horse seems to notice you. it advances close. the clopping of hooves is muted— or rather, it sounds like an ominous breeze surging in like a tide. suddenly, it disappears in the dense haze before reappearing behind you like a phantom.

write a post that has your trainer offering the carrot to the spectrier and then post in MODERATION REQUESTS. after they have been given the carrot, the horse will promptly fade away.

A dark presence sent a chill down Oscar's spine, heightened by the sudden darkening of the mid-day sky. Before Oscar could contemplate what was happening, a the thick fog bearing a black horse caught his eyes. Oscar tensed up as the horse came near, a horrible specter the likes of which he had yet to see before. Suddenly he was a kid again, whimpering under the torment of a gengar. Oscar watched, not moving until the creature suddenly disappeared.

He let out a sigh of relief, hoping he was simply hallucinating. Suddenly however, he would hear heavy breathing behind him. Oscar slowly turned, coming face to face with the bizarre spirit horse. It stood there expectedly, as if waiting for Oscar to do something. Oscar's mind whirred as he grasped at straws, having no idea what he was supposed to do. Eventually he looked to the carrot in his hand--it looked a lot like this strange horse. He slowly held it out, hand shaking as he waited to see what it would do.

upon closer, quiet inspection, the horse seems hesitant. without the shaderoot carrots— you do not possess the same gravity you once did; however, the horse approaches still, sensing your benevolent motives.

write a post that has your trainer's pokemon using the move, SHADOW CLAW, to "comb" through the spectrier's mane. after, post in MODERATION REQUESTS. after they have been groomed, the horse will promptly fade away.

Oscar indeed returned, unable to think of anything else other than that mysterious phantom horse. Not due to a lack of trying mind you, he really wished he could think of anything else. The fucker even invaded his dreams, prancing about like it owned the fuckin' place. Oscar couldn't stand it! He had to find out what the deal was with this horse!

So he returned, eyes heavy as he once again looked upon its majestic spooky splendor. The steed brandished its mane, which seemed knotted and frayed. Did it wish to be groomed? How do you groom a ghost horse? A comb would just go right through it. Perhaps if the comb was made of ghostly power? Oscar had an idea.

He pulled a pokeball from his belt and opened it, revealing Boris the Haxorus. Boris looked to the horse and roared triumphantly, only for Oscar to rapidly pat him on his back. "No no no no no Boris, chill this isn't a fight." Boris immediately calmed, bowing slightly to the horse to illustrate his embarrassment. Oscar spoke again, "I need you to use Shadow Claw very gently to comb its mane. Can you do that for me?"

Boris blinked, sure he could try but he's never used shadow claw to comb hair. That's not what it was designed for! Oh well, master knew best. Boris gingerly approached, his claws enflamed with phantasmal power. With extreme caution he would begin running his claws through the ghost horse's mane, grooming it until it was satisfied.

THE NEXT NIGHT, you don't spot the horse; however, it does find you. reappearing some distance away, it remains still: an eerie image in the mist. like spectral scarves, the mountain's ominous fog passes through where the horse's pasterns should be.

you do not need to have the berry grow in your garden. you can simply purchase it from the SITE SHOP.

should your trainer come the next day, they will find the spectrier on mt. pyre once more. shiv will post a new prompt, detailing what the spectrier wants (hopefully, once per day). each request fulfilled by your trainer will steadily tame the spectrier.

Oscar arrived at his garden plot once more, eager to once again encounter the spectral horse. After a short wait it reappeared, though it did not seem as eager to interact with Oscar now that so much time had passed. Oscar came prepared however, while he had no more carrots to share with the steed he brought a freshly picked basket of tomato berries from his new garden. 

He stepped forward with great confidence, holding out a gloved hand filled with delectable berries. "Don't be shy now, they're yours to have if you wish."

THE NEXT NIGHT, you see the horse— but it seems different in appearance from afar. getting close, you see that the spectrier's own wisps has become entangled with what appears to be a renegade soul.

when the spectrier sees you again, they seem hesitant. without the shaderoot carrots— you do not possess the same gravity you once did; however, the horse approaches still, sensing your benevolent motives. the spectrier must be freed of this spirit, for it seems to bother the horse like a clinging burr. perhaps, there is a pokemon that is an expert at sucking souls...

write a post that uses ONE SHEDINJA and a Pokemon using the move, VACUUM WAVE, to suck the soul away! after, post in MODERATION REQUESTS. after they have been cleaned, the horse will promptly fade away.

Once again Oscar appeared to visit the mysterious ghost horse, but this time when it appeared Oscar would be surprised to find it in peril! Er, perhaps not peril per-say--but it certainly looked uncomfortable. With so many wisps tangled in its mane, it would need something more than just a soft combing.

Oscar sent out two pokemon--his Shedninja and Lucario. A cleaner to get the wisps out and a bag to put them in. Oscar pointed to the horse, "Lucario, Vacuum Wave the wisps and store them in Shedninja!" Lucario acted immediately, throwing back his arms to pull an immense gust of wind around him. The wisps were yanked from the mane, twirling around Lucario as he held together his charged power. 

Carefully he would aim toward Shedninja before firing the wave of collected energy into its back. The wave passed harmlessly through the ghoulish bug, and the wisps were sucked into the hole in its back. Shedninja sighed, apparently quite pleased with its meal. Oscar smiled and turned toward the horse. 

"There ya go, hope that helped!"

THE NEXT NIGHT, you see the horse. the spectrier does not seem hesitant at all this time. instead, the horse appears to have been waiting for you, as if they were in tune with your rhythms. your schedule.

when you approach, the spectrier kicks you. hard. you fall to the cold, hard ground; however, when you lift yourself up, you find yourself peering down at your own limp body. you're not dead— however, your soul seems to have been separated from your physical form nevertheless. in this odd, spectral realm, the horse grants you a test. in its mouth, a narrow wisp of spirit acts as reins.

asking you to mount its black back, the spectrier intends on testing your mettle. this ghostly world is disorienting. nauseating. however, it intends on galloping through the steep mountain's rugged terrain to see if you can hang on for dear "life."

TAME THE HORSE:

REIN IT IN!

WITH EVERY POST, make a ROLL. you must hit or surpass a total of 100 to successfully hang on to the spectrier; furthermore, the horse is examining your ability to ride it!

In what has become something of a routine, Oscar would arrive once again to greet the mysterious horse. In his arm would be another basket of berries, since it seemed so fond of them last time. As the horse approached, Oscar would sift through his basket, "I decided to bring some new ones for you to try. Hope you don't mind--"

POW! The horse kicked Oscar in the chest. As he fell backward, berries flung through the air, Oscar's very soul would fly out of its mortal coil! Floating just a few feet in the air, Oscar would look down to find his body laying lifelessly in the grass. Past him would probably be horrified and panicked, but current Oscar for sure knew this was just what happened when you mess with forces beyond your control. He shook his head, "I can't believe I died trying to befriend a fuckin' horse."

Though, perhaps he's not dead. The horse let out a hollow neigh to get Oscar's attention, flicking its tail toward its back. It took Oscar a moment to understand, but when he caught on he would sneer and chuckle. "Oh now I see, alright let's go. I gotta warn ya, I'm pretty fuckin' good at this." With a running start Oscar would leap onto the horse's back, immediately being forced to grab its mane as it reared up and burst forth through the night sky.

Oscar had indeed tamed horses in the past, but this was no ordinary horse. The spectral steed was a creature all its own, and Oscar found himself using all of his will and strength to stay mounted upon its back. The wild dash through the skies over Mt. Pyre was like the world's most dangerous roller coaster, if Oscar had known this horse was such a thrill seeker he would have insisted on a helemt.

Ah right, he's a ghost right now. A helmet probably would not help. 

Oscar dared to adjust his grip, grabbing ahold of the mane less gently. He had to, otherwise he would risk falling off the horse. The horse seemed to feel his increased aggression, and let out a neigh that sounded closer to a cackle. Was it amused? The fuck was wrong with this horse.

Its stride somehow got even crazier, attempting every trick it could to test Oscar's mettle.

Oscar was gradually starting to get the hang of this wild ride, in spite of the spectral steed's attempts to throw him off. As he stated himself, Oscar has had some experience in wrangling wild horses (for super legal reasons) and even thought the difficulty of this encounter was far beyond anything he has attempted in the past he was able to adapt through grit alone. Yet the spectral horse had another trick up its sleeve that Oscar could not possibly prepare for.

It began to ride straight up, with the sheer force of gravity pulling Oscar in the opposite direction. He tightened every limb, desperately fighting to maintain his grip. "Is that all you got!?" He shouted at the horse. He would soon find that he had just made a grave mistake. The horse curved, eventually making it so Oscar would be riding upside down.

Oscar expected to level out, but it would seem that the spectral steed was content to spit in the face of physics and force Oscar to exert all of his strength to remain mounted. Oscar's ghostly muscles tightened, every vein in his head nearly popping as he put his all into remaining on the horse's back. This was truly the toughest test yet...

AS YOU RIDE AROUND THE MOUNTAIN, you feel your spirit becoming one with the spectrier despite the discombobulation of being forced out of your physical form. the odd phantom pains—ones that are associated with novice riders—begin to fade too. there is no discomfort now. only unity.

the spectrier finally stops. satisfied with its rider, the horse gallops back to your body. with a quiet whinny, the horse allows you to slide off its back. as soon as your feet hit the floor, you feel yourself being pulled back to your body. one blink and you're back. before you, the spectrier remains, awaiting to be caught.

THE SPECTRIER is now able to be caught with one of your pokeballs. you may decide their moveset like a gachapon pokemon (e.g. 6 learnset moves) and add them to your PCs.
