[break][break] it was ironic, how many times he had come across this particular path. he remembers the first mission that he was brought on with Cillian Quinn when he had returned to the ranks, after silas' downfall. then again, that had been a personal assignment. this was — by all means — a professional one.

[break][break] wearing the invisible badge of his new rank, jayden cross reaches the location with no issue.

[break][break] he spots the pallor of his senior, the esteemed rocket beast that was oscar clayton . it had been a minute since they'd seen each other face-to-face and one-on-one. though, of course, there had been several instances where they were part of the same crowd.

[break][break] silently, he appears before the other beast, just as he is about to suck on a lollipop. jayden is not one for grand entrances; he simply waves a hand, tipping his head towards the other. "sir."

Oscar nearly chokes on the stick of his sucker as Jayden appeared, spooking him with his silent approach. Damn how could Oscar let someone sneak up on him? That's not very beast like. Oscar quickly recovered, chuckling to himself as he turned his body fully toward Jayden.

"Gave me a bit of a scare there, goes to show you should never let your guard down." Oscar's chuckle turned nervous, his brow straining as he tried his best not to let his face turn red. "Also we're the same rank now, you don't have to call me sir on the job. Speaking of, how's it feel to be a beast?" Oscar retrieved his cigarette lollipop case and opened it toward Jayden, offering his fellow beast one of his assortment of treats.

After Jayden responded and made his choice concerning the candy, Oscar would put his case away and point to the Magikarp Processing plant behind him. "See that place over there? A gang of thugs that are calling themselves 'Rockets of the Port' are using it as a base of operations. Normally we just rough fuckers like this up, y'know put them in their place. But these sickos are different. They're killing people when they rob them, beating on the homeless, and generally giving us a worse name. They have to be eradicated."

Oscar raised a brow as he turned back to Jayden, "I'm placing you in charge of this mission. I'm following your lead on this one, consider it a test of your skill. So what's our first move--sir?"

[attr="class","jayden"] if jayden feels anything at the surprise he elicits from the other upon his entryway, he certainly doesn't show it. his expression is blank as it ever is, up until oscar mentions the word "sir".

[break][break] 'you don't have to call me sir on the job.'

[break][break] a shard of something painful, and he thinks inexplicably of Chu-e Choi. of course, oscar wasn't him. jayden takes a breath. "what should i call you then?" as someone who'd spent a good portion of his life subordinate to the glory that was oscar clayton, it seemed almost surreal to think of them as the same rank. was it possibly so easy?

[break][break] he doubted it.

[break][break] a pause as jayden considers the other's words, blinking as a lollipop is offered to him. he hesitates briefly, before deciding to take it. after all, he's not the type to be able to say no to a superior — which oscar is, despite their rank. at the very least, he's still his senior. "it feels..." fingers go to crawl up his shirt, pressing into his chest. how did it feel? a pause. "normal?" he isn't sure of the appropriate answer, but he isn't sure he feels all that different than before.

[break][break] slowly his gaze follows the direction that oscar points at, nodding as he takes in all the information. of everything that oscar says, the word eradicated speaks out to him, loud and clear.

[break][break] jayden knows what it means. it's likely one of the reasons that he was made a beast.

[break][break] he grimaces at the use of the word sir. it feels unfamiliar, unusual — a light laugh. "okay, i won't call you sir anymore." his gaze narrows as he surveys the processing plant behind them and then gives a decisive nod. "alright, let's find a way in."

[break][break] it's by way of his hydreigon that he leads them both closer to the plant, deciding the aerial route. once they land atop the building, jayden is quick to return the three-headed beast. after all, silence would be their weapon of surprise this time.

Oscar stayed quiet as Jayden asked how to address him. He just coyly smiled, almost as if he hadn't decided. After a moment he just chuckled and put a hand on Jayden's shoulder. "Oscar's fine. It's what everyone else calls me." It was his name after all.

Jayden made his move, letting out a Hydreigon so that he could get up to the roof. Oscar let out his Vikavolt, Disco, and followed Jayden skyward. They landed upon the roof top, and like Jayden Oscar would quickly withdraw Vikavolt. Oscar put his hands in his pockets, attempting to look casual while also fiddling with a shrunken pokeball that hid within. You never know when things might go south, best to be prepared just in case.

Oscar said nothing, simply looking to Jayden expectedly. Whatever his plan was, he was very interested in seeing how this all turned out.

[break][break] oscar. being on first-name basis with the senior beast would take some getting used to, wouldn't it? then again, he'd been able to do as much with Cillian Quinn, so perhaps he could do the same with him.

[break][break] sure enough, they take to the sky upon jayden's instruction and land atop the plant at ease. normally, this would be the time that jayden would turn to the lead of the mission to ask what should be done next, but in this case, he's keenly aware of his position. instead, he glances around to find a point of entry — sure enough, there is roof of glass just a few feet away from them.

[break][break] jayden dashes over towards it, flicking out a knife that he'd kept concealed in his pocket. he plays with the lock for a few seconds, before being able to deftly pop it open and then gingerly grabs the edge of the glass door, lifting it open.

[break][break] "we have entry."

[break][break] and sure enough, jayden drops down into the space without fear. after all, they have a job to do.
