Truth be told, Mars had never even thought of Ana in such a way, even if he may have passingly considered what things would be like. The feelings had never been there, but that’s no surprise, considering how rare it is for him to have romantic feelings for anyone.

The issue is definitely not Ana’s assistant, and this is something Mars can guess, because there’s things he has seen in himself that he recognizes in his friend. Working can easily consume everything else; it becomes the top priority and distracts from every other aspect of life. There are plenty of things in Hoenn Ana may need distracting from, just as there have been plenty of things Mars has needed distracting from in the past.

People who adore them may just be as many as people with a grudge against them, and this is something Mars knows well – it’s kind of the way things are with his family back at Sinnoh, after all.
