Danny's hand reaches up to caress the side of her cheek and she leans back a little to get a better look at him. A lot of thoughts pass through her mind in an instant as well as a lot of different emotions. It was almost overwhelming but she quickly decided to focus on the positive notes. [break][break]

Like how all of this reminded her of a happier time when she'd been able to enjoy Danny's company while he was blissfully ignorant of the company he was keeping. Still, regardless, it could be said they had a lot of fun together that was for sure. "can i kiss you?" he asked softly as he continued to stare into her deep azure pools. [break][break]

Serena offered him a gentle smile. She was appreciative that he would ask first. Maybe he'd recognized on the awkwardness she'd been trying to hide. "Of course you can." she said as she gently pressed her forehead against his. She'd do better, she wanted to do better. Not just at this, but everything. She deserved to do that much to repay the kindness she'd received since all this stuff went down. [break][break]

Danny returns her smile before gently taking her lips. The moment they touch a familiar spark sends a shock down Serena's spine. While the moments leading up to this might have made her unsure, now that she was here she realized just how much she missed all of this. She could lie to herself but her heart knew better.[break][break]

She felt his smile as he kissed her, which coaxed one of equal measure from her as well. Serena pressed herself against him before deciding to sit in his lap instead, straddling him. All the while, she never once broke the kiss. If anything, she deepened it, as feeling returned to her body and it started to move on it's on based on memory. [break][break]

Danny breathed as he finally pulled away. He leaned against her as the pair attempted to catch their breaths. "...we should probably get out of the water, huh?" his question confused Serena. Hadn't they started all of this in the first place because they were here? And hadn't they just got here?[break][break]

Did she do something wrong? Suddenly there were tons of thoughts like that one drifting through her head as she looked back at him. "We can...if you want." she said softly. Even though she'd been enjoying her time in the water. "W-what would we do though?" she asked still clearly not following what was going on. [break][break]

Serena continued to search his gaze for some sort of answer to if she had made a mistake or not. Or at least a clue as to what was going on. In the back of her mind she wondered if the confusion and hesitation was obvious. It probably was since she often didn't realize she was wearing her heart on her sleeve until too late. [break][break]

"actually..." Danny corrected himself as he leaned in to plant a kiss on her cheek. "i'll go get us something to drink. we can stay here for as long as we want." Serena blinked for a moment before nodding. "Sure, thank you." her voice was soft as she got off of him so that he could leave freely. [break][break]

She bit her lip as anxieties began to creep in all over again. If there was one thing Serena did best it was overthink and over complicate things but she couldn't help it. Nor could she shut the voice up in her head that constantly filled her with all of these concerns and insecurities.[break][break]

Perhaps she should've taken it easy, gone with Danny's lead instead of moving on her own. Serena glanced down at her hands that were clasped together tightly underneath the water. "Fuck," she whispered softly, her voice barely audible against the natural noises of a hot spring. Her head bowed as she continued to reflect on what she might've done better or what she could do better to just make things go back to normal again. [break][break]

By the time Danny returns Serena manages to get her shit together somewhat, remembering the earlier promise to herself. She offered him a small smile once he came back. "they only had sake. i hope that's okay." he said with a smile as he made his way back towards her. "Welcome back, and yeah that's fine. Thank you." she said with a brighter smile this time. [break][break]

She took the glass from him gingerly and waited for him to get settled before partaking of the alcohol. It wasn't often that she got to have sake so she planned to savor this moment and really enjoy it. Danny sighed next to her as he became more relaxed in the heat of the hot springs. "how are you feeling?"[break][break]

He asked her as Serena turned to refill her glass. "Um..." she said for a moment as she brought the glass to her lips. "I'm okay..." she said softly. Her hesitation was obvious so she decided to clarify. "Better, now that I'm here and with you." she said with a nod before taking a drink. [break][break]

She pursed her lips for a moment before continuing. "It'll...take some time...but I am trying so that's a plus." She said with a short and soft laugh. "I'll take my small victories where I can get them." she said as she glanced back at him. "W-what about you? How are you?" It was easy to forget all of the bullshit Danny had to deal with in regards to her alone. [break][break]

He also had the most major of uproots to his life recently right before Serena's life came crumbling down. Danny didn't share much with her, probably because he was concerned about it being too much for her right now, or maybe he just didn't want to talk about it. Still, she figured she'd ask anyway. She nodded as she took another sip of sake from her glass. "Yeah, it's rough at first." She said thinking about her earlier jobs back in Kanto. [break][break]

They shouldn't be making him do anything as difficult as what she had to do. "But they respond well to people who are motivated. Show you're willing to do what it takes to get things right and you'll be rewarded for it." At least that's how it went with her. it's an honest question because he's seen just how brutal they can be even to those who've been in the organization for a while. it isn't all bad, however, as he's already made a few friends within it. cleaning shit with priam conrad comes to mind.

Serena was silent for a moment as the question stayed hanging in the air. Did it ever stop being rough? Considering what she was going through she would be hard-pressed to say it got any easier. But that's not the thing someone struggling wanted to hear. "It's not that it gets easier, you just get stronger and it becomes easier to manage." she finally replied after a moment of silence. That was the best answer she could give. But rather than managing things better it just seemed you were supposed to grow numb to it all. That's the common theme she noticed from all the higher ups she was close to after all. Still, that was a little bit too depressing to give him as an answer right now. He'd learn, in due time. "thanks, sera. if you need any help from me, too..." she smiled and nodded. She wasn't sure if Danny would be able to really help her with her issues but he certainly was an emotional support. She needed that more than most other things nowadays it seemed. "i'll always be here." Her gaze lingered on him softly before she moved closer to him and planted a gentle kiss against his cheek. "Thank you. You don't know how much that means to me." she whispered to him softly. She prayed that they could stay like this forever. She didn't want fights or tension between them and she certainly didn't want to lose him too. [break][break]
