It was obvious to her that Danny was trying his best. For her, and for the both of them. She knew that, but it almost felt as if she was no longer herself. It was difficult to get back to how things were. So the both of them had been going through very stressful times. Through it all Serena was continuously surprised by how resilient Danny was. [break][break]

After all, in normal circumstances, people would've left her by now simply for how she'd been treating him. She felt guilty but she also felt trapped. Still, when he invited her out on this trip she had agreed, reluctantly at first but she realized that she needed to try at least. If not for herself then for Danny, who was and had been giving it his best for so long. [break][break]

"i think this is our room here." he says as he approaches a wooden door that led out to the outdoor hot springs. Warm air hit her from just standing in the hallway behind him. Suddenly he turns towards her with a warm smile. Her eyes widened slightly as she stares back at him before a hard hitting pain hits her chest. [break][break]

There it was...the guilt all over again. [break][break]

"i'm excited." his bright aura was overwhelming. She wanted to cower from it, to hide. But she resisted the urge and offered him a smile, the best one she could muster, "It looks great." she said softly before pausing. "T-Thank you. For everything." she said in an even softer voice this time before turning her back to him. "I'm going to wash up quickly before getting in." She said as she placed her things in the little cubby in the hallway before grabbing the things she needed for her shower. [break][break]

[attr="class","danny"]in all honesty, danny doesn't blame her, because he can't even imagine the pain she went through. he only wishes he could've been there at sootopolis with her, fighting next to her, then maybe he could've done something.

all he can do now is try his best to be here for her.

with a nod, he watches her slip into the shower before turning his attention to the hot springs. it's not his first time here so he's well acquainted.

he undresses down to a towel before approaching the water, though not entering quite yet.

The words echoed in her mind as cool water dripped down her body. Serena pressed a hand against the shower wall as the water continued to soak through her hair and pour down her face in a steady stream. Lately she'd felt like such a fraud. She didn't deserve the treatment she got and she wasn't sure how to deal with it.[break][break]

Should she pretend it didn't affect her? How long could she keep that up? But the alternative seemed like bitching. Sooner or later people would grow tired, their patience would wear thin. What would she do then? When the people that had been supporting her up until this point all but left her behind?[break][break]

She'd been here long enough. She didn't want Danny to get worried. [break][break]

Taking her wet hair and twisting it into a loose bun so it would be out of her face. She dried off just to wrap herself in another towel before entering into their room. It would just be the two of them so there was nothing she had to be nervous about. But anxiety still crawled in her belly with each step she took closer to the hot springs. [break][break]

She'd been alone with Danny numerous times, she had no clue why she was feeling like this all of a sudden. Serena places her things in the cubby where they had placed the rest of their belongings and quickly moved towards the hot spring. Her feet softly tapped against the cool, wet stone as piercing blue eyes landed on her partner. [break][break]

"How is it?" she asked softly as she stood on the edge. She had to prepare herself for the temperature change, after all she had just taken a cold shower back there and now she was about to endure sweltering heat. After a moment, she just decided to brave it, as she stepped in. Her body and muscles tensed immediately as they were introduced to hot water.[break][break]

She faltered for a moment before she continued to press on towards where Danny was reclining. Her body would get used to it all after a moment. Muscles and nerves relaxing as blood rushed to her face in a flush. [break][break]

"really hot." he chuckles and she smiles. "that's true." she agreed as she took his hand to help steady herself as she moved to sit beside him. "how was your shower?" he asked once she was finally situated. "Cold," she said as a chill ran down her spine just thinking about it. "But I'm alert and wide awake now, so that's good." she said with a chuckle. [break][break]

Even though she was sitting beside him she didn't release her hold on his hand. Instead she opted to scoot closer to him and leaned against him lightly. As her body got used to the water her muscles began to relax and she felt the stress begin to roll off her body as she relaxed beside him. Once again, it turned out Danny knew what was best for her, and she was thankful. [break][break]

"thank you for coming." Danny says as he lifts his head up to plant a kiss on her cheek. She smiled and nodded. Serena was honestly glad she came. Even if it was sort of a miracle that she agreed. She'd gotten too used to wallowing in self-pity that it was honestly hard to do anything else. But she was so very thankful that Danny never once gave up on her. [break][break]

"how are you feeling?" he asked, checking up on her. She didn't deserve him, or anything of this, if she was being honest. Her lips pressed into a thin line as she thought how to approach this question best before deciding to just answer him truthfully. "I'm...good." she answered hesitantly. [break][break]

"I mean...I know I'm good. And I'm glad to be here, I am. It's just that..." she paused, considering if she should really be this straightforward. But he'd see through her anyway, even if she didn't say it, so she might as well. "...I just feel a little guilty, I guess." she said as she offered him a small smile. "you deserve good things, sera." Danny says matter-of-factly, as he looks at her. "you deserve the best, and i can only try to give that to you." Serena smiled and shook her head. "You're already doing more than enough for me." she said as she turned to look up at the ceiling. "I'll....try my best to be deserving, but I honestly can't make any promises." she chuckled a little. After resting in the water for a while her tense muscles became acclimated to the water's temperature. It felt comfortable but it could definitely be hotter. She glanced over towards Danny for a moment as a smirk formed on her lips. She wondered how he'd take it if she turned up the heat. [break][break]

"So," she said as more steam swirled around in the room, "I've never been to a hot spring before," she admitted with a sheepish smile. "What do people usually do here?" she asked as she turned towards him, her skin beginning to flush due to the sudden rise in heat. [break][break]

Drinks did sound nice right about now, but she wasn't sure if they had brought any with them. Perhaps the facilities here provided some? She wasn't sure, but now that he had said it, relaxing and drinking sounded really good. [break][break]

Her body tensed once more as she became extremely aware of the trail his lips left on her skin and how they felt. [break][break]

It had been an incredible amount of time since they last did anything together. Once again, it felt foreign and her body wanted to jerk away and hide but she remained seated, frozen in place. Once upon a time she might've teased him and joined in on the fun, now she stayed still, eyes wide as her blush continued to spread to the tips of her ears. [break][break]

She felt like she was experiencing her first crush all over again. Inexperienced, nervous, and scared. "I see," she breathed as she turned her head away so he wouldn't see her embarrassed face. "And what will you do if we get caught?" she asked. It was a normal question, while they might have the bath house to themselves for now, there was no telling what could happen in the future. Serena flashed him a look. Easy for him to say. He just didn't want to stop. His lips curled up into a smile as he stared back at her. She gave him a skeptical quirk of her eyebrow. Just what was he up to anyway? "we just have to be...quiet." Serena's azure orbs narrowed at that comment as memories of them sneaking into his parents place came to the forefront of her mind. "Be quiet he says." she muttered with a slight pout. "You say that like you don't have any intention of doing things to me to prevent just that." she called him out but the corners of her lips rose to signify a smile. While things would take getting used to she had promised herself to make this trip an enjoyable one. Both for herself and Danny. [break][break]

Mostly Danny though, since he was the one that organized all of this. She turned towards him, free had dipping beneath the cloudy water's surface to rest against his leg as she leaned in close to him with a smirk. "Alright, you've got my attention." she said softly with a smirk. Since it was clear he intended to play, she'd play along too. Serena leaned closer to him, her breath tickling his ear as she whispered, "Now what?" she said with a soft giggle before she playfully nipped at his ear. [break][break]
