”alright, true, but there’s no way to cool off here.” noah glances over, momentarily enraptured by the sight of his lover’s ochre hair tied proper. ”can’t jump into an inflatable pool with the dogs. can’t sit in any refrigerators.” he laughs at his own recollections and curls a fist against his lips.

each little wiggle of laughter draws a jewel of sweat to slide down his sun-kissed skin. ”let me get that for you.” noah says.

he shifts, almost rolling over. settling on the other’s lap, his hands overtake kyle’s. with arms on either side of kyle’s head, noah squints as he ties the champion’s hair for him. ”there.”

noah pulls away, but not before clearing kyle’s brow of stray strands.

noah scoffs. yet, the faint blush on his dewy face betrays the immense joy he receives when called such a thing. a small smile curls up at the cupid’s bow before he withdraws his arms. for balance, he straddles kyle’s lap tight as he raises his arms for an impromptu show of his guns. he pouts, head snapping to the side with closed eyes. ”you mean manly- not cute.”

he cracks one eye open. despite his feigned defensiveness, the jest is clear in the smile that refuses to fade at his lips’ corners.

”you’re cute for saying that though.”

this close, noah settles his elbows onto an elevated wooden level behind kyle’s head. too quickly the kiss comes- and noah’s eyes blink open as if to complain about its brevity. ”i dunno,” the gym leader taunts, ”are you?”

he leans in. lips searing against the other as if to make up for the previous kiss’ lost time. however, the hot steam is an agonizing smoke. he pulls away, needing air as his humid breath pools off his lower lip. noah’s arms snake backward, palms sliding down to kyle’s shoulders before resting on the other’s slick chest for support.

”then again, i chose you after all.” an echo of shoal cave. a moment’s ice before the melt.

whenever the lazy champion galvanizes himself with the spark of sudden initiative, noah can not help but misplace any sense of control. he rests his forehead on the other’s as he catches his breath. again, the herbal airs of their private room is sucked in quick. burns the lungs. his eyes linger on kyle’s above parted, soft lips.

he utters, voice low and husky within the wisps of sauna steam, ”sorry for having ever doubted you.” from below, then past the collarbone to the shoulders, noah’s palms massage damp skin in affectionate circles. they find stress bundled within firm muscle before relinquishing it with the warmth of a lover’s hands.

”you’re kissing’s got a lot better, you know.” noah says. ”i taught you well, don’t you think?”

”you and me both, man.” a small grin matches the other’s, equally as self-conscious. equally as shameless. noah wonders if this is a common occurrence at the sauna, or if he’s violating a societal norm out of his own selfish, private need for monopoly. most likely the latter though. most likely.

his hands grasp onto kyle’s tightly and with his whole body, noah urges kyle’s downward. redirecting his lover, noah swivels around, towel scandalously clinging carelessly around his waist as he pushes kyle to his back. noah leans over. picking up a wooden ladle full of water, he pours it against the stones to perfume the room in a burst of steam. finally, he returns to give kyle his full attention, lying on top of the other.

”kinda wanna nap here. but that’d be a bad idea.” noah leans close, kissing the other’s ear with words first. lips second. ”i’ll make sure to keep us both awake though.” laughter tickles the neck, preparing it for another kiss.

"i'm sure an attendant would find us." noah leans back in contrasting thought. light thuds tickle kyle's bare collarbone as he drums one set of fingertips on its ridge. "eventually."

occasionally, noah swears he sees a poochyena or an electrike scuttle on by in the corner of his vision. a phantom of domestic life. even when escaping the responsibilities of home, the ordinary day finds a way to butt in with its paws.

"no way we're napping here though, lazy ass." noah shifts his weight and cups kyle's face with both hands. "we just got here." the towel begins to slip.
