he leans back against the wooden backing of their seats. back broad against the barrier. arms slack. chest puffed out as he sucks in deep basins of breath.

"we could visit the slateport apartment." noah says. "take a picture... add another one to your little gallery."

it was small, but it's in a pretty nice neighborhood. it was also seldom used, mostly just kept for sentimentality (and storage) with kyle's excess income. there was nothing special about it outside of memories.

then again, one can't put a price on those.

"i crash there once in a while when i'm in a mood to do slateport pd stuff so it should be tidy enough for a pic," he tells noah.

heat as hot as will-o-wisps on his face eventually take over him.

”yeah, it’s cute, man. small little place. kinda feel bad we haven’t been there in awhile. should show our faces in the neighbourhood.”

still, noah remembers being charmed by its normalcy adorned with the occasional ornament of kyle’s quirks. his collections. his polaroids.

noah wonders who else knows the minutiae of kyle’s life. what is seemingly mundane is all the more special- for the extravagance and drama of hoenn has reinvented normal time and time again.

the heat is unbearable now.
