The further away she went from the ocean, the less she felt like herself - at least since the Sootopolis event. So whenever she had business to take care of in Lavaridge she always took a detour to its famous hot springs. Only this time she isn't here for business. And it isn't as much a detour as it is the entire purpose of the trip.

Steam dances around her bare feet as she approaches the pool of warm water on silent steps, stilling before the surface reaches past her knees. "I thought we could use a reprieve, Angel." From the ocean and its leviathans, goes unsaid.

For just one night.

The hot springs are all but empty this late in the evening. The sea captain takes full advantage of that fact, a white towel peeling away to expose a stretch of sun-kissed skin. The garment is carelessly thrown to the side. Already forgotten.

But Captain Dross doesn't sink further into the pool behind her. Her chin tilts up, bold and unashamed, to catch moonlight in the elegant stretch of her throat.

This isn't the first time he's seen her bathed in moonglow.

Teeth flash out in a semblance of a smile, something far too wild to be entirely civilized peeking through. It looks like she wants to fight as much as she wants to tangle in other, more sensual, ways.

Maybe for Skyler they're one and the same.

There’s something about Skyler Dross beneath the glow of the moon that entrances. Bewitches. [break][break]

Angelo had felt it back on a deserted island in the midst of last summer when they’d collapsed breathless in the grass, drunk off tequila and shanties bellowed into the wilderness with her swaying in his arms. Had been unable to deny it, when they sat intertwined in the crow’s nest that night they'd breathed kisses over each other's lips.[break][break]

Given his heart fully to her, beneath the celestial bodies and the faint rustling of palm tree leaves… [break][break]

It doesn’t matter if this is the hundredth time he’d seen her bathed in nothing but an ethereal silver. Even now, Angelo cannot resist the siren calling to him beneath the glow of the moon. [break][break]

“Have a little patience. Not like the water's going to get cold,” he teases on a languid grin, tones hushed as Angelo discards his towel on the edge of the hot spring. He doesn’t notice – or just doesn’t care – that a cotton corner dips into the steaming bath.[break][break]

Water steadily begins to crawl up tanned skin as he follows a song that will see him willingly, happily, drown into her. [break][break]

Cerulean eyes, near swallowed by an inky night sky, traces sweat and furls of steam that caresses the elegant stretch of Skyler's neck when he approaches her. It’s impossible to not join them. A fingertip reaches out to slowly follow a perspiration path, ascending, hooking around a loose curl that's stuck to sun-kissed skin. [break][break]

“C’mere, Sunshine. I’ll tie your hair back…”[break][break]

A scarred hand is held out, waiting for the hairband to be placed into his palm.

She feels his eyes on her before she does the slow drag of his fingertip up her neck. It proves nearly as intoxicating, a slow gait that approaches under the moonlight - its silvery glow pooling in the corner of a lazy smile.

Unbeknownst to Angelo, Skyler is equally transfixed by star-speckled blues, caught in the swirl of distant galaxies that she'd seen him chase, day after day. Her smirk momentarily fractured to expose something far softer as a finger is hooked around one of her curls. Playful.

She pretends her heart doesn't stutter in its ocean-kissed confines.

Head tilting ever so slightly, Skyler leisurely traces warm lips and the hint of teeth over the skin of his wrist, feeling his heartbeat beneath a lingering kiss.

"All yours, Angel." The words roll from her tongue deliberately, like she's taking the time to savour them. Silver catching moonlight to reflect it back at him from beneath dark lashes in silent challenge. As if daring him to contradict her words.

An elastic band is placed on the palm of his hand before she offers him the scarred curve of her back. An untameable mess of golden curls is lifted up and away from the back of her neck, cooling the perspiration which has gathered there and eliciting a small shiver from the sailor.

"If you don't hurry up, Angel, I might be the one getting cold soon." Despite her words, she doesn't seem to be in any hurry.

“Hm…” Wordlessly, her challenge is met. Not in their tried and tested routine, where intentional provocations are sent in one another’s direction on the lick of quicksilver tongues and sharp teeth, flashed hungry. [break][break]

But instead, on a consenting hum. Within eyes that have captured stars, growing enlightened to the mapping of her constellation – more than perhaps Skyler would care to admit. [break][break]

Angelo pushing back in the simple agreeance of her statement, that dangles like honey off the end of her tongue. Too tempting to resist. [break][break]

You are, the subtle, knowing tilt of his lips seems to say. And you know it.[break][break]

Taking the offered band, the pilot slides it onto his wrist beside one crafted of tightly knit blue. [break][break]

When she turns, blunt nails slowly scrape up the back of Skyler's presented neck, fingertips dragging through golden waves to gather the wild, untameable mane into his hold. Stubborn strands still manage to escape, seemingly desperate to stick to Skyler’s skin – [break][break]

and Angelo reciprocates their gesture, bending until his mirth curled lips meet her trembling nape. Calloused fingertips gripping the bundle of hair atop her head tighter to keep more than flyaway curls close. [break][break]

“D'you want to get into the water?” His free hand drifts down with lazy perusal; skimming over the curve of a shoulder and gliding lower, to settle on a heat slicked waist. Tauntingly light, as a challenge of her own making is kissed beneath her ear.[break][break]

“I can feel you shivering.”

Defiance rises in the wake of his confidence, flashing bright in the gleam of silver and the proud tilt of her chin. It runs through silvery depths as she narrows her eyes in response.

Prove it, then. The words need not be said out loud, not when they settle into the slow curve of a smirk. Another line drawn in the sand, beckoning.

Submission had always been an ill-fitting mantle on Skyler, even when tension crackled, electric, in the space between the two of them. Tempting her to close the distance, to run her tongue over the moonlight that splashes across the tanned skin of his neck.

Later, she promises herself.

But right now the elastic's in his hand and ocean blues look at her, expectant. And so she allows Angelo's fingers to intentionally weave a path up her neck, trailing fire in their wake - and sending pleasure rolling down her spine to pool low in her belly.

Her teeth flash, feral.

The solid tug on her hair summons a growl from her throat, only to be silenced by the dance of his fingers down her side. Eyes flutter shut and the curve of her back arches to give chase, unashamedly wanton in her pursuit. Mine, her mind interjects greedily, all mine.

She barely hears the words that rise, taunting, over her shoulder. Even so, they're enough to cut through the haze that has settled over her mind.

"Isn't that what we're here for, Angel?" A tease floats, sharp, in her words. The captain leans back against him, skin sliding over the warmth of Angelo's own in a deliberately lazy motion. "Come."

Her fingers find his own, pulling on him as she steps away into deeper waters.

Laughter, brief and hushed as it squeezes from haze-filled lungs, fans against the damp flesh of her neck. “Thought we were here for a ‘reprieve’…” His insolent tongue curls intentionally slow, as smooth as the smile hidden against adored, moon painted skin.[break][break]

A roguish grin temporarily melts away, however; reverie taking the form of a sigh expelled against the shell of Skyler’s ear, as her body languidly, intentionally, slides against his own.[break][break]

Angelo’s fingertips greedily advances over her abdomen, blunt nails scraping in a desire to impart sensual revere. Summon more shivers. Only for Skyler – her heat, her friction, her golden waves – to slip through the space between like a taunting wind. [break][break]

Come, the sailor beckons. She needn’t pull on his hand for him to follow her into the depths.[break][break]

He blinks back the mist that clouds the surface of his blue pools, pushing it away like the steam that swirls above the waters when they cut through; Angelo letting her lead him deeper in. [break][break]

“Here.” He decides after they’ve advanced further into the hot spring, guided by distant celestial bodies and the soft glow of artificial lamps. It doesn’t matter where they sit, really. They only have each other for company tonight. [break][break]

This time, he’s the one to encourage Skyler with a faint tug of their linked hands, steaming water lapping at his chest and cool rock pressing against his back as he descends. [break][break]

When she joins him, Angelo finishes tying back her hair. Some rebellious strands intentionally left to the whims of the breeze and spring.

It would be a lie to say that the blunt nails that sink into her abdomen - most likely a gesture borne out of some primal instinct to keep her in place, close, his - don't tempt her into staying. It takes concerted effort to pull away from Angelo's grip, to slip past the flickering desire, both his and hers, and wade deeper into the steaming pool.

She wants to sink her teeth into him. Rasp her nails across his back. Reaffirm that the gravity which pulls them closer is the same that holds stars together; inevitable.

"All done?" Skyler turns her head, blowing a few errand curls from her face to peer at blue eyes with an unrepentant grin. Awareness creeps along her skin, and she basks in it shamelessly as she shifts to drape her legs over his with absolutely no regard for any sort of propriety.

After all, this wasn't exactly a private pool; just an empty one. Skyler seems wholly unbothered by the fact, however.

Especially when her heel retreats to poke at his thigh with circular movements.

"Y'know, Angel." A silver eye opens to peer at him - as sly as her voice is casual. Far too casual. "I think Angelo Dross has a really nice ring to it. Ever thought about changing it?"

She doesn't, not really - which becomes all too evident in the impish curl of her lips.

“Perfect.” Judging from the mischievous grin on his lips, it’s anything but.[break][break]

It does the job in the near-oppressive heat, at least. And it also gives him a nice view of Skyler’s exposed neck. A near blank canvas, that calls for his teeth and lips to add colour amongst tiny, faded scars. [break][break]

In a minute, he thinks.[break][break]

For now, he’s content to give himself to a peaceful lull as they settle into the naturally fervid pool, perspiration already tickling trails down the back of his neck and in the crook of his arm. [break][break]

Angelo reclines, eyes closed and arm stretched out over the cool rocks that lines the hot spring as he gets comfortable, unflinching as Skyler stretches her legs to rest over his own. It’s technically a public bath but he doesn’t shrug her off; always welcoming a risk. [break][break]

“Hm?” He hums, listening to the dangerously casual edge of a voice Angelo knows well, while fingers dip into the water in response to the brush of a heel against his thigh. His touch rests upon her explorative ankle, thumb grazing bone. [break][break]

“Doesn’t sound as shit as Skyler Vestri.” An eye lazily cracks open then, a spark of blue slicing through the veil of steam to burn against the alluring curve of her lips; electricity dancing in the cerulean slither. [break][break]

It’s then that Angelo shifts to face a beloved troublesome expression, propping an elbow on the stones and pressing his cheek against the heel of his palm. Regarding the sailor with a heat-heavy gaze, relaxed and contemplative. [break][break]

“Y’know what, Sunshine… Maybe I'll think about it.” [break][break]

It’s only after a lengthy pause that his lips split, unable to resist revealing a teasing flash of teeth. Roguish and wholly unrepentant, utterly aware he's dancing with danger. Willingly tempting it. [break][break]

“There’s enough room in Hoenn for two Captain Dross’s.”

She can sense the shift the moment it happens, intimately familiar with the map of Angelo's expressions. Languid movements are stalked by a fever-bright gaze, growing heavy with lazy perusal as it lingers briefly on the corner of a roguish smile and over ocean blues that sparkle with unrepentant daring. More than willing to chase after the trouble that slips from his tongue.

Anticipation builds within her ribcage, responding to his first statement with a quirk of an eyebrow. While Angelo Dross does have a nice ring to it, Skyler doubts he wants to take her last name. That, and she's rather fond of Vestri herself. It feels satisfying growled from her throat whenever he pokes at the sharp edges of her temper.

Like now.

"What did you say, Vestri?"

Relaxed muscles aren't given much time to stay that way, tension building in the wake of preposterous words and an intentional hit on her pride, which works far too well. So much so that the brewing storm beneath silver eyes is materialized in a tight, ominous grip on Angelo's shoulder.

Calloused fingers mercilessly sink in, serving as a tether to pull her away from her chosen seat and into Angelo's space with effortless, liquid grace. The skin of her inner thighs teasingly slides up Angelo's legs to hover a few inches from his lap, strong muscles squeezing tight. Her grip on his shoulder slackens only to move to his wrists, deceptively soft as they're pinned to the rock stretching behind him.

Seduction taking the shape of sharp teeth bared in silvery moonglow. Ravenous.

"Two Captain Dross's, huh? I'm not sure you really thought that through." Moonlight catches the edge of her jaw as she looks down at him, wildness reigning uncontested in molten mercury.

Triumphant.

Lips, weighty with the heat that grows in the pit of his belly, curl victorious and wolfish against the sharp, illuminated angle of her jaw.[break][break]

A breath fans against her skin, cooler than the steam that encircles in their humid prison. A distinct contrast mirrored in a soft exhale and the sharp press of blunt nails, digging into flesh. Pulling. Claiming.[break][break]

“You’re here, aren’t you?”[break][break]

He tastes the moon drops that trickle down the soft column of her throat, his tongue dipping into the tiny pool of silver that gathers on the ridge of her collarbone. [break][break]

Exactly where he wants her to be.

Laughter pulls free from her lips, low and throaty with a steadily rising hunger that seeks to take all for itself. One which Angelo feeds with the drag of his lips over the wet column of her throat; with the defiance that sears a path, sharp and greedy, into her flesh.

"There are easier ways to get me here, Vestri..." But there aren't, not really, not when his fingers sink into her thighs to pull her closer and his voice beckons with a siren song. Drawing her helplessly into ocean blue she's all too willing to drown into.

Her hips roll languorously in response, bold and uncaring for the picture they present should anyone enter. The entire world becoming a backdrop to the lazy drag of a tongue over her skin.

Unbidden, a shaky sigh slips from her parted lips like a confession, up into the stars above.

Fingertips travel up the length of Angelo's torso to linger over scars, faded and new alike. Mapping an already charted course over the frenzied heartbeat within his chest (hers, only hers), beneath his jawline, to tangle into soft brown strands at the back of his head and gripping tightly. Unconsciously bringing him closer to the curve of her neck.

Not enough. Not enough.

"You look good beneath me, Angel."

“That almost sounded like a compliment…” [break][break]

Good is a mockery, when above him Skyler sits bathed in nothing but a shimmering cloak of mist and surrounded by a backdrop of a million celestial bodies – all dull in comparison to her. [break][break]

He’s enraptured even before the drag of her fingers demands the undivided attention of cerulean blues. Angelo’s pulse fluttering beneath her steady hands as she trails a path that pointedly burns over his chest and his throat, even when submerged in sweltering waters. [break][break]

Unsolicited, a satisfied hum rolls between them when she guides his chin up with a tug on his damp hair, tip of his nose grazing the moon sharpened angle of her jaw. Kissing a throaty provocation there, too. “Is the heat getting to you, wife?” [break][break]

Wrist freed, a soft touch dips beneath the surface to follow a memorised course up from her knee, travelling higher. His thumb indenting the tanned skin of her inner thigh. Squeezing tight, as he drags her wilful hips against his own. Closer. Not yet close enough. [break][break]

Entangling them further in one another as Angelo takes his time on a lazy kiss against her throat; guided by slow, heady intimacy and the risk of their perilous position. [break][break]

She’s the one who looks too good on top of him. [break][break]

“Or do you want something from me?”

Unbidden, a soft moan escapes her parted lips at the fingers pressing on her flesh.

Her next inhale is shaky, surrendering to the simmering desire that pools low in her belly. Head tilted back to allow for Angelo's slow kiss, Skyler finds her eyes fluttering closed and her back arching slightly in subconscious, subtle invitation.

Angelo's question, however, clears the haze somewhat; and has her lips curling in troublesome self-satisfaction. Skyler's hold on his wrist slackens, calloused fingers finding the spaces between his own and squeezing. "Couldn't you tell, Angel baby?"

The tug on his hair pulls his head back enough that her next words hover over the wet surface of his lips. Close enough, but not quite touching.

"Should I demonstrate?"

Angelo has always reminded her of the ocean. Of the sky. Of tempests and storms and wild things that belonged only to themselves.

And her. Hers.

The thought is brushed aside to make way for the slow drag of her lips over his, passion purposefully held back within a pounding heartbeat and reflected in feral molten silver kept open to watch him. Anticipatory. Eager.

She wants him so bad.

Her hand squeezes his tightly, water rolling down her torso as she shifts in his hold. Closer. Closer. Not close enough.

A chuckle, low from the furling steam and desire that thickens in his throat, entangles with her breath in the razor thin space between their lips. Joyfully insolent, daring, as Skyler commands the tilt of his neck with fingers in damp brunette strands. [break][break]

Skyler’s lips brush over his and he burns. Every inch of him alight, craving to push their torturously slow kiss into a clash of passion. But to do so would mean bending – losing.[break][break]

As his lips slide over hers, electric crackling across his wet skin, he squeezes their interlaced fingers tight. Attaching his drifting resolve and sanity into their tether. [break][break]

Until a curious eye cracks open and his abdomen twists when he’s met by silver, blade sharp, piercing hungrily into him. Slowly, he grins into their kiss. Awake. [break][break]

Skyler was untameable, a force of nature. He loved bearing witness to her being unbound, wild and free and drunk off danger. [break][break]

And so, as he slowly pulls back, Angelo takes her bottom lip with him. Pinched between his teeth in a sharp, short bite. Giving Skyler something to watch by dragging his tongue over her, in a mockery of an attempt to soothe. [break][break]

Encouraging the tempest to come out. [break][break]

He wants to see her unleashed. Wants her. [break][break]

“Or maybe you should just tell me. No need to be shy.” His digits squeeze fierce into slick skin, dragging her writhing hips to slide further up his lap, closer, until she’s against him. [break][break]

Yet despite the low groan that he utters when pleasure teases up his spine, there’s no doubt it’s still not close enough.
