Perhaps so near a volcano, this was to be expected. What wasn't expected is that someone would be stupid enough to cause a fire all by themselves.

Kaida had noticed the increasing ash in the air, and shrugged to herself. On her neck, her new Charmander looked into the air and stared, but she saw nothing to note out of the action. The serpent was eating, the dragon was resting, and she didn't want any trouble today. Not now.

And then screams rended the air.

Without a word, the serpent laid its gaze on her, and she sighed before following the already running people. A fire. They yelped and barked, but the word did no justice. It was a blaze, a terrible, awful blaze. The orange gleam yawned at the skies, and Kaida backed up, unwilling to risk her life for a temple. At least until movement flickered at one of the openings. People inside. Pokemon inside.

Her teeth must have been bared, because the serpent suddenly pitched forward, eager to help its master. "Let's go, now." She mumbled, darting forward, not expecting that there would be allies nearby.

The smell of smoke was what stirred Emma into movement. She had been testing her Dewpider's water-type moves against the warm terrain nearby, but she had been unprepared for what was to come next.[break][break]

A fire had broken out not too far away, the sounds of screaming, terrified civilians rising in volume as they grew closer. Emma's Pokemon shrank back in surprise as he was nearly trampled, and Emma narrowed her eyes in irritation.[break][break]

"What is going on now.."[break][break]

Her voice is wistful and tired, and she promptly scoops up the Dewpider to make her way towards the rising flames. It's only when the woman draws close enough to see dark shapes dance through the fire eating the temple walls that she realizes how dire the situation is.[break][break]

Another young woman darts forward, quick to respond to this immediate danger. Emma's own soft heart encourages her to do the same. While a criminal working for Team Rocket, she isn't heartless. She's only heartless when it comes to criminals.[break][break]

And, the likely scenario is that the culprit responsible for this geyser of flame has already escaped and therefore isn't one of the trapped individuals.[break][break]

"Start putting out the flames near the entrance. They'll need a safe escape exit."[break][break]

Dewpider hops off his master's shoulder, his tiny legs carrying him quite rapidly over the terrain. He seems to be growing his bubble-head quite large before he charges through the opening using liquidation. [break][break]

Water sizzles and sprays as it explodes on contact with splintering wood and flames. [break][break]

Priam was a bystander for the most part. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time, much like every other civilian with him within the edifice. Some were elderly, who visited the temple for the sake of tradition. There were children too, who Priam guessed were dragged along for the trip by their grandparents. Regardless of their age, none of them seemed to have any Pokemon that could help the situation, with most of the ones they have likely to be pets than trained beasts.

"Sandstorm!"

His Gabite, which had just been released from its Pokeball, whipped up a turbulence that temporarily cleared the room from flames. Winds would have normally just fanned it, though Priam found out sand cancels out the problem most of the time. Everyone trapped within the premise with him had naturally ran all the way to the top after the entrance had been blocked off. Priam, who had been scouring the building for artifacts to nab, was simply stuck with them through unfortunate circumstances.

"How about a date if I get us out?" he'd dare the shrine maiden beside him, left by her higher ups to be in charge of the temple and eventually, stuck in the burning establishment.

The side of his lip would raise to a smirk as the maiden, flustered by the request and anxious from the situation, failed to respond immediately. "Payment in the form of collateral would be fine too, I guess." A single strap backpack was already filled with little trinkets and artifacts his hands could grab, none of which the person in charge should know of. Instead, he'd grab a decorative sword hanging on the temple walls.

"Is this fine?" he'd ask, to which the maiden was still too flustered to respond to.

Now that Kaida was actually in front of the roaring fire, she instinctively started losing her nerve. All creatures were afraid of fire. If the heat didn't kill you, the collapsing structures could then do so. She didn't want to enter...but human nature, as little as it was in her, wouldn't allow her to take the cowards way out.

Her eyes caught a water spider pitching forward, and an idea struck true. "Haze!" She ordered the serpent, which had reached the entrance but looked too intimidated to actually launch itself through. The cloud of bluish smoke swirled around the entrance, and if only slightly, the moisture killed parts of the flame, enough for Kaida to enter. "Keep an eye on fires." She ordered the lizard on her shoulder, flame moved quick, and she didn't want to be taken by surprise. Then, to the dragon, "Keep the spider safe, it'll help with the flames."

She had to prepare herself to yell, but finally managed to howl out, "Come to the entrance!" To all nearby, "Yell if you're trapped! We're here!"

As Dewpider dives into the leaping flames, he's busy throwing water bubbles at whatever he can find. Now, however, he's feeling the stinging sensation of sand berating at his tiny body. [break][break]

When he turns, he finds that there are more than a couple of people still trapped within the temple.. and not only that, but some punk kid is whipping up a sandstorm.[break][break]

He turns again to see that there is now a Charmander standing guard next to him. He's unsure when exactly the fire lizard arrived, but he's at least a little bit thankful for the company.[break][break]

Emma enters not long after, mostly thanks to Kaida's haze. She waves an arm over her head to try and clear some of the lingering smoke, narrowing her eyes to see through the stinky, stinging mess. [break][break]

"The entrance is clear, everyone get out!"[break][break]

She's standing by the entrance now, pushing and tugging on people to get them out the door faster. She can hear the whole temple begin to creak and moan, as if threatening to collaspe. The heat is intense, taking out support beams.[break][break]

Dewpider continues his water assault, extinguishing flames as he goes. He's quick to avoid most of the sandstorm as he dives deeper into the temple. People nearly step on him in the confusion, but he's quick.[break][break]

Eventually, Emma begins to push her way deeper into the fray. She's released her Lycanroc now, the rock-type Pokemon using rock slide to snuff out embers.[break][break]

She's blocking the sand from her eyes as she enters the room where Priam and the maiden are. [break][break]

"You two both realise the temple is on fire, right? I suggest you stop whatever weird shit you're doing and get your asses out of here. It isn't safe."[break][break]

For the moment, she doesn't recognise Priam as one of her organization's grunts. For that matter, she hadn't recognised Kaida either. She was simply here to rescue innocent idiots that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She could care less if they were League or Rocket.[break][break]

Lycanroc immediately takes control of the situation. Given how confused and stunned the maiden appeared to be, the werewolf scoops her into his arms. With a quick nod to Emma, who nonverbally agrees with his decision to get the hell out of there, she too begins to exit the temple.[break][break]

"We have a couple minutes before this place crumbles. Don't bother taking souvenirs unless you're planning on being buried with them!"[break][break]

Her and Dewpider then likely take up the rear, with the little spider still doing the best he can to send water bubbles and liquidation attacks at the flames as they ate up the corridors and walls.[break][break]

"Hey!" he'd call out as Kaida called. It seemed to be effective though, as some people eventually opened up the way for them.

A familiar face comes out for their rescue: a rocket beast. Her presence unnerved Priam for a moment, but the thought of looking uncool made him snap back. Besides, he was a civilian instead of a rocket grunt at the moment, and that it looked like some small fry such as him wasn't recognized by her. It would have worked out in the end, had she not given any further instructions.

"If you say so, boss," he'd respond cheekily before turning to the Pokemon beside him. "You can take this for me, Gabby." He hands the Dragon-type the sword, to which the Pokemon accepts amid the confusion.

The sandstorm stops as he distracted his Pokemon, flames starting to spread throughout the room. People would start to panic once more, although they seemed to have stopped as Priam, the person who temporarily stopped the flames just enough to start a conversation with the shrine maiden and inadvertently saved everyone else, turned to them.

"No pushing or running. Remain calm and all that stuff!" he'd remind them. "Basic evacuation etiquette, people! Sheesh!"

The words had, surprisingly enough, calmed everyone down despite the crudeness of the words used.

Did this kid just obey orders and simultaneously disobey all at the same time?[break][break]

Emma looks at him, a scrutinizing glare reflecting back at him as he hands off the sword to his Pokemon. It seems as confused as she is, and she opens her mouth to say something but decides better of it, she's not his mother.[break][break]

He had also referred to her as 'boss', which also threw her off. Not only was she rarely in a leader-type position, but she was also pretty sure she didn't know who this kid was.[break][break]

Kaida seems to be preoccupied with something else at the moment, so Emma takes charge of the situation. It seems that this kid has also decided to take charge, and she stands back, more than a little bewildered by his maturity. [break][break]

Everyone seems to calm down as he orders them to quit pushing each other around and to stay calm. He's bossy and brash, but it seems to be what the civilians needed to hear. [break][break]

"We'll handle it from here, just get out of harm's way."[break][break]

Dewpider continues to throw bubbles of water at the fires, but it doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot. Oh, how Emma prayed he would evolve soon and actually be useful.[break][break]

In the meantime, Emma releases her Lycanroc. After a couple of quick orders, the werewolf starts to half-bury the temple in ROCK SLIDES to more effectively choke out the flames. Once everyone had been evacuated her and Kaida could get the hell out of dodge and not associate themselves with this mess.[break][break]

"Sand Tomb!"

A layer of sand would cover the few spots that the Rock Slide missed, although the Lycanroc seemed to have did the job nicely nonetheless. While the fire in their path was gone, the heat from the flames outside the jurisdiction of their Pokemon's moves still made everyone weak and weary. Smoke would soon fill their lungs if things do not get addressed soon.

They needed water. The Dewpider was something, but it wasn't much. Despite the bravado he showed, Priam knew that he'd die if they wouldn't be able to exit the building somehow.

"This looks bad," he informs the Rocket Beast. "I'm gonna make a hole."

He yoinks the sword he gave his Gabite and tells him to use dig. The Dragon-type breaks the flooring of the floor they were in and gives everyone an easy way down to the entrance. It was quite a fall though, which the Gabite had made thanks to cushioning himself with a timely Sand Tomb. Priam grabbed onto his Pokemon when it did, letting the Gabite take the blunt of the fall. It does not seem to mind though.

"Can you bring them down?" he calls from below to Emma.

Smoke is still filling up the temple, even despite the rock slide and sand tomb that both she and Priam were using to try and snuff out the flames. Perhaps in some way, they were actually making the smoke worse.[break][break]

It's the kid who comes up with the better idea in this scenario. Normally Emma would be irritated by this, but given that she was struggling to breathe, and she didn't have any Pokemon capable of helping her out of a situation like this, she didn't care.[break][break]

Priam gets his Gabite to dig a hole in the ground, and within seconds the boy and his dragon disappear down it. She hears a faint voice asking if she can help bring the rest of the people down with her.[break][break]

Her response is to quickly and efficiently start pushing reluctant civilans down the new tunnel.[break][break]

"Unless you plan on dying, I suggest you kick it into gear and take our alternate exit. Sorry to say, but this place is toast."[break][break]

There were some gasps from some unceremoniously jostled people who were also offended by her lack of concern for the temple. But regardless, they were all escorted safely and efficiently out of the building. One Priam got ahold of the last civilian, she herself would return Dewpider and Lycanroc, emerging on the other side mostly unscathed.[break][break]

Ushering the last of the people, or at least, the ones still shaken by the unwanted event, priam follows the rest towards the exit. the sword hung by his belt, while a hand covered his nose from inhaling too much smoke. they were to reach the safety of the outside soon enough.

the breeze outside felt like a treat for once. comparing the harshness of the flames within the temple to the cold, gentle winds did not even need to be explained for someone to differentiate the two. he was out of the hell that was the burning structure, and he was thankful for that. he goes to the rocket beast who was more responsible for guiding the people out of the place than him.

"Shouldn't we call the authorities to deal with this instead?" he asks.

it would have been unwise if they still were in kanto. priam was sure his name wasn't part of the wanted list yet, nor was his affiliation with rocket was publicly known. meeting up with the officers of the league outside of skirmishes would still be safe for him, he supposed.

he wasn't sure about the rocket beast though. then again, he doesn't know much about them besides their identities.

As the last person brushes past her extended hand, the fabric of their shirt swishing over her hand, she finally breathes a sigh of relief.[break][break]

There's a burning in her lungs as a result of the fire and smoke and she coughs, a wheeze escaping.[break][break]

Priam's voice drags her back from her thoughts. The woman at first looks to the kid, then past him to the flames that are now causing the entire structure to squeal in pain. There's a crackle and a snap and the entrance to the temple collapses in on itself. Her eyes narrow in irritation at this and she reaches for her phone.[break][break]

There's a pause as she waits for a connection. There's only a moment of hesitation as the voice on the other end initiates conversation.[break][break]

"There's a fire at the temple on route 113. It's gone."[break][break]

She promptly hangs up before at Priam again. There's contempt or disapproval in her steely gaze, especially as she looks over the sword he still carries.[break][break]

"Might wanna get out of here before they catch you with stolen history."[break][break]

Without waiting for a response, she soon returns her exhausted Dewpider to it's pokeball. The Lycanroc she had out earlier has since returned to her side, watching the boy with an equally intimidating stare. The two leave, unwilling to wait for authorities to arrive to question the situation. While she was not a well-known operative for Rocket.. it was possible she might be recognised by description from one of the survivors of the fire. [break][break]

She wasn't willing to risk detainment.[break][break]

while he probably would just be thrown to juvie normally, he wasn't sure how that will work without his records in the region. he wasn't even sure if he brought with him to hoenn any identification that proved his age.

he whistles for his gabite's attention, nudging him to come to him. any work that concerns the safety of the people was done, and as emma wolfe had mentioned, the getaway was the next thing that should be in his agenda. getting caught was not the nicest thing he had experienced, especially with all the questioning that came with it.

"see ya!"

priam disappears from the crowds of people the next moment.
