When he got the request to go to Dewford Town, Elliott was going to deny the mission. However, he remembered that one, he needed money, and two, well, you don't really tell Rocket authorities no, did you?

So, he cancelled his plans for the day, got black clothes and a mask to hide his identity. Slapping a cap on his head, he made his way to Dewford.

The location was a storehouse not far from the shore, apparently holding boxes of pokeballs that had Galarian-type pokemon in them. He peered into one of the wooden crates, seeing the balls waiting there for transport.

No wonder the League was itching to take them back.

Elliott fixed his sleeves down his arms, Enya walking beside him as he wandered the building.

He heard a noise, startling him at first. "Who's there?" His Houndoom was poised to attack if need be, standing tall beside her trainer.

artemis really hadn’t wanted to go to dewford town today. it was a day off, and, honestly, all he wanted to do was curl up against his pokemon and rest for the day. maybe message someone to spend the day with them if he really felt like it, but the idea of sleeping most of the day away had been too tempting for even that at the time. he wasn’t going to even be able to do that, though, because it wasn’t like he would exactly be able to deny the request.

so, pushing aside any plans for naps, he had wandered in dewford after hunting down a mask of his own. estella wasn’t out of his pokeball today, but the request had involved a psychic type pokemon- maybe part of the reason artemis had been requested for this one in particular? even solaris didn’t rest in her usual spot on her shoulder; sure, it was probably fairly common, but he knew better than to do anything to give them away.

the location was shady enough on its own, even without artemis’ knowledge that the pokeballs were hidden there. it was a warehouse, fairly close to the shore, with crates absolutely stacked full of pokeballs. for a moment, the idea of helping with this makes artemis feel guilty; these pokemon don’t deserve this, and he doubts their trainers do, either. he doesn’t know what he’d do if something like this happened to estella or even solaris.

an accidental nudge of his foot against the crate caused a noise as he was about to look for his partner for this mission, and he heard a voice ring out almost immediately. tensing, preparing to put solaris to use if he had to, he stepped closer into this stranger’s line of sight, free hand raising in an ‘please don’t attack me’ gesture.

He saw someone walk out from the crates, tensed and ready for a fight. It looked like the stranger was also ready for a fight if it came down to it, since he had a pokemon out beside him.

Eli's Houndoom made a low growl, tail waving behind her as she waited for his word.

However, he noticed that the man held his hands up in surrender. Or to say that he was no threat. So Elliott relaxed, only a little bit. "It's okay, Enya." She sat down beside Elliott, keeping an eye on the stranger.

He looked back over at the stranger. "You here to help today?" he asked cautiously, narrowing his red eyes.

if artemis had known solaris was believed to be out for a fight, he would have denied it with everything in him. it wasn't that she couldn't fight, but it wasn't exactly something the espeon was meant for. means of communication when he had his hands full or just otherwise couldn't, yes, but not anything that would potentially hurt her too bad.

which...looks like he doesn't have to worry about now, because the blonde called his houndoom down, even if artemis was reluctant to get too close. he didn't trust the dog pokemon, because this one didn't really seem friendly. not like some dog pokemon he knew, like reve's, but that was different, because reve wouldn't be working in some shady warehouse with a stranger like this.

artemis hoped, briefly, that helping meant the same thing for this stranger that it did for him, and he wasn't about to get roped into some league scheme. but, either way, he nodded, because he wasn't planning to get mauled by someone's houndoom at any point in time. so far, there hasn't been any mention of oh fuck that's artemis chary from the stranger, so....

well. he doesn't really want the fact that a model's working with rocket to get out. names would have to wait.

Though their short "spat," if you could even call it that, was over, there was still tension in the air between Artemis and Elliott. He noticed that he hadn't made a move to say anything yet, introduce himself, confirm that he was another Rocket member.

Eli was getting suspicious. So Enya was signaled discretely to be kept on guard.

He went to sit down on one of the closed crates, his legs dangling over the edge of the tall box. His Houndoom sat at his feet, observing the room.

"Do you think the pick up will be here soon?" Make small conversation. See what the other would say.

"I have plenty of other things to get done."

the stranger hadn't introuced themselves, either, and artemis really didn't want to deal with what would happen if word got out. it would be a mess, and he'd half to lie and say he wasn't involved with rocket, that his loyalties were with the league- just a mess overall. and if reve zajac found out....he didn't want to think about that. the thought of his friend finding out makes him feel bad, for several different reasons.

but enough about that. he had a job to do. unfortunately.

'i hope so. feels awkward with just us and,' a gesture towards the crates for emphasis. he hopes the other would understand what he meant; two people who didn't know each other and a bunch of silent, unmoving pokeballs? it didn't make for the best scenario.

'what else do you have to get done?' it's half small talk and half genuine curiosity; outside of mint frost, artemis doesn't know any of the other rockets personally, and even that's iffy, now.

Elliott glanced at the boxes, including the one that he was sitting on so casually. He shrugged.

"I guess. We could always play a game or something to pass the time..."

He had finally eased himself from the tension he had felt a moment ago, though he refused to fully reveal his identity. Better to be careful.

"You know. More money moves. Got to get income."

the stranger doesn't seem to have any idea of when the transport will get there, with a shrug to artemis' question, and it only serves to deepen his frown. he wants out of here, as soon as possible, and their only way of transport being late won't help with that.

'like what? i spy or something?'

it sounds boring even as he suggests it, and this once he wishes he could express just that in his signing. there's solaris, who can translate his emotions, but he wouldn't do that to a stranger. not unless he knew they didn't mind, and he doesn't with this one.

adjusting the espeon's position on his shoulder, he goes to sit on another box nearby, trying not to seem as tense as he feels. this stranger doesn't exactly seem ready to give up any information about themselves, which is irritating even if he can't blame them, and he huffs.

'fair enough. i don't have anything else until tomorrow.'

anything else being modeling jobs, of course. he's off from his main job for the day, fortunately.

As silly as it sounded, something like that would make their boring wait seem like minutes, he felt like.

Enya sat down, staring at the Espeon on Artemis's shoulder. Her tail flicked behind her a few times, like she wanted to play with it.

"Yeah, that's all we do now. Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat."

'i don't mind either way.' it's signed with a shrug; and, just as quickly, an apologetic glance given towards solaris at the movement jostling her. from his spot, it's not like he can see much, so- 'you can go first?' assuming they were playing i-spy, anyways. artemis was, unfortunately, just assuming at this point.

if solaris noticed enya, or the flicking of her tail, the espeon paid her no attention, content to curl up on artemis' shoulder and rest. for now, anyways.

'sounds about the same as what i do.' and then he's changing the subject before he can really linger on that, to something more lighthearted. something that doesn't make him think too hard about his life in sinnoh.

'have you met many other rockets? on missions like these or?' have they met mint, is what artemis wants to ask; but, right now, he's not entirely sure if he should.

Creativity was absolutely ~~not~~ his strong suit. They were surrounded by brown, on the ground, sitting on the boxes, everywhere. Artemis would have to guess so many things to figure it out.

Met other Rockets in missions?

"Yeah, I have. Why, anyone in particular on your mind?"

Eli's head tilted to the side. He could probably count on his hand the number of people he had met in team Rocket, but he could tell him.

"CIAN MAHER is my childhood friend, if you've ever run into him. mint frost is a bother. He's quite annoying if you ask me. I got trapped in a cave with bryan delarosa. It was cold and wet."

He tapped his chin.

'the boxes?' if elliott was ~~not~~ creative, artemis was less so. with this, anyways- it was the first thing he saw, and it matched the description of brown, so...it was a good guess, at the very least. he shrugs again at the question; it's innocent enough, for both of them, but something about it has him putting his guard up.

'just haven't really met any. don't go on many missions.' for now, anyways.

the first name the stranger mentions means nothing to him- he hasn't met this cian person, outside of the fact that the record of childhood best friends being in rocket is almost funny. and then his childhood best friend is mentioned, and artemis perks up at the mention of mint frost. he doesn't mean to; he does it without thinking, and the last name goes almost entirely unnoticed.

'how did you meet mint?'

Well, the game seemed to last a short amount of time before Eli found it boring enough. But what wasn't boring was Artemis's reaction to his mention of mint frost's name.

Don't think he didn't notice the perking up.

"We robbed a casino together. He's a little piece of shit," he said, kicking his feet against the crate.

Ever intrigued, Eli narrowed his eyes at Artemis.

"How do you know him?"

artemis can't blame elliott for finding the game boring, already. outside of the boxes full of pokeballs, there wasn't really much of importance. he almost thinks to change the subject at elliott's question, say he sees something dog-shaped, but he can't exactly bring himself to.

'we're friends. have been for a while.'

it doesn't seem like the mint he knows to rob a casino, though- another thing for artemis to add to the list of how they've both changed. he decides, then, that it's better to change the subject away from mint in particular. keep his okay mood.

Friends. Well, maybe Elliott should have watched what he had said about Mint if they were friends. However, he didn't exactly regret he words. It's exactly what he felt.

"He always been that annoying then?"

He noticed, though, Artemis seemed to trail away from the topic of Mint and onto their mission instead. He wondered... was something up? He wanted to ask, but of course it wasn't his place to get nosy.

"It went fine. Pretty smoothly. Robbed them dry."
