Rayne had asked aloud, his Rotom zapping about around him with excitement. He wasn't quite sure what turn of events had gotten him aboard a beached, abandoned ship, yet here he was. Making his way down... one of the passenger hallways? Half-sunken with holes along the floor, and what seemed like a deeper abyss within where one of the sunken areas were located. A dark nothingness within which Lucien's gaze felt like it had been drawn into, as if he couldn't dare to look away lest something were to come out—as if any moment, the dark abyss would reveal another pair of eyes staring back at him.[break][break]

"Eh, it's probably nothing," Rayne chuckled and simply turned away, his Rotom taking the moment to giggle alongside him. Turning to a doorway, he'd tried to open it, though the moment he'd gripped the handle it had simple fell apart, rusted and old, the door itself falling forward off the hinges from the slightest contact, "was that you, Chance?" Rayne had asked, the Rotom staring back at him in confusion.

As Rayne had began to walk through the crumbling doorway, he'd been distracted by sudden bubbles floating by and popping near him, "Hm, what's this...?" Rayne had turned to look for the source, in the dark he could only make out a strange bulbous silhouette that had emerged from the murky abyss below, a haunting tendril slithering towards the young man and wrapping around his arm, silent, encroaching...[break][break]

"Oh, are you hungry?" he'd asked, swiftly approaching the dark figure, and pulling out a bag of dried fish with an appearance similar to shredded pollock, his Rotom zipping by and exuding a somewhat brighter light such that his trainer could see what exactly he was trying to feed, "Well aren't you just a cutey." he'd said with a smile, offering a strip of dried fish to the Frillish, seemingly unaware that it had been rather taken aback and stunned by his actions.[break][break]

"C'mon, eat up, you must be famished if you're coming to a trainer like that." He'd offered again, the Frillish somewhat reluctant, taking a careful bite of the dried fish from Rayne's hand as if out of courtesy—it seemed like it wasn't actually hungry and Rayne had been misunderstanding. Yet, he'd managed to puzzle the pokémon and prevent it from acting out whatever plans it may have had earlier. With a proud smile he'd pat the pokémon on the head.[break][break]

"Say, how about coming with me? I can promise you won't go hungry, I'm a pretty confident cook, you see." he'd said with a beaming smile, the Frillish somewhat dumbfounded had sat there bobbing, and Rayne had mistook that as the jellyfish pokémon nodding in agreement, rustling through his things for a poké ball and in one simple, swift motion tapping the Frillish on the head with the ball.
