[attr="class","illie i"]she's always wondered if the flame atop a litwick's head crackles. turns out, she finds out in the middle of the safari's dense forest.

it's a soft sort of noise. she almost misses it, really. it starts with the startling of the small candle and her golurk drifting too close to its hiding spot. and when it reveals itself, she hears it clearer. an angry sort of snap escapes as the flame flickers.

she smiles. the peculiar color settles a second later. somehow, she likes it a little more than the usual purple glow.

"hello," she murmurs. the candle's flame grows a little smaller at the sound of her voice. nervous, maybe?

the automaton behind her rumbles. a greeting, perhaps. and then, the ground is rumbling with a softer version of earthquake. enough to throw the litwick for enough of a loop for her to toss a pokeball as it feebly attempts to not fall.

[attr="class","illie i"]they drift on, wandering spirits following a particular haunting pattern. her steps are soft and drowned out by the heavy clay feet behind her.

heavy enough to startle, to draw out those around them.

they find another life in the confines of dense forest. it's small, lost, fragile. she knows the story of the skull it wears. perhaps too well to turn away.

"it's alright. i'm sorry we startled you," she whispers, sliding to a stop and shifting into a crouch. the startled cubone merely blinks, tears welling up in wide eyes. they spill over and leave thin stains across white bone. "it's okay if you need to cry... you're safe here." her tone is warm and honeyed. fit for a soothing mother, even. it beckons the crying baby in more than her outstretched hand.

and by the time she rises back to her full stature, there is a warm little body snuggled into her sweater-clad chest.

[attr="class","illie i"]continuing on is easy. she's mindful of her movements now, the sleeping cubone nestled close and held gently.

the discolored automaton is not as conscious. its feet are too heavy to be mindful, even as it attempts to sneak through bushes.

an impidimp is startled in the process of moving along. and as the teal blur feebly tries to shove deus' feet away, it merely succeeds in knocking itself over. a sniffling sound follows and illeana's turning to stare. the little imp stares back.

"are you okay?" she whispers. her feet carry her closer even as deus tries to extend a large clay hand to the fallen imp. it pushes the hand away, little teal fingers frantic. and maybe that upsets the automaton because it lets out a sad rumble, shuffling back in an attempt to rectify the situation. "you're not hurt, are you?" her voice is soft, much like with the cubone. it's effective in capturing the attention of the poor little impidimp, much too prideful to begin crying over its bruised butt in front of strangers.

"if you come along, i can heal it." as if for emphasis, she extends a hand, letting pink mist float gently toward the impidimp. it's enamored with the color, the way pink matches with teal. and when its little fingers wrap onto her hand and tug, she flashes a smile. more mist flows until the impidimp is scrambling up her arm and settling onto her shoulder, following the path she lays out for it.

two babies now secured on her person, it would seem.

[attr="class","illie i"]the makeshift pack continues along with little resistance. there's a rustle here and there, sure, but nothing makes itself known yet.

her golurk trails behind, keeping an eye while she focuses on her two tagalongs. the cubone is still sleeping soundly, a soft snore escaping every now and then. the impidimp has mostly taken to settling in her hair, fiddling with pale strands and occasionally tugging. pink mist lingers around her head if only to keep the little gremlin from yanking her hair right out.

a drowsee ventures into their path for a moment. it stops, turns, stares. and then, they pass each other by like ships in a harbor. one stays and the other leaves.

she's not finished here quite yet.

[attr="class","illie i"]the winding path leads further into the safari. and with it, comes another encounter.

she is careful to step over a leaf pile. unwilling to hear the crunch, unwilling to startle anything further. not yet, anyway.

her automaton doesn't have the same thought, unfortunately.

clay feet crunch over dead leaves and she fights off a wince at the sound. it sends a dewpider scrambling across the path. over her feet, over deus's feet, and into a nearby bush.

she feels the crawling sensation in her toes for a few more steps after that... ugh.

a new encounter.

she had almost given up, really. the night winds down and she finds herself close to the gate. two cuties snuggled up to her body and one tucked safely in a pokeball. and yet, something tells her to stop, to look to the sky.

she finds another creature there, hung upside down and watching her.

a smile, a wave, and it shifts into movement.

"hi," she murmurs. the noibat leaves its perch to creep closer. curiousness shows in both parties. she offers a hand and the noibat settles on the new perch. "you're cute, you know." it preens at that, as if won over by pretty compliments and nice words. huh, aren't they the same in that aspect?

she moves to leave, then, as the night grows colder and the leaves begin to rustle and decay.
