he wouldn't put it past the man. it seems like something a politician would do. whatever it takes to get the upper hand, he supposes. not like he'll ever care enough about it.

"he hasn't really bothered me since we got here. i think he gave up on me a while ago."

he sighs, then turns to smile at his sister.

"i'm going to be a detective soon. in a few months, i think."

Jessie couldn't help but roll her eyes. Of course he did. Because no matter how hard she tried to stay away, he somehow found her.

"Might have to see if I can get something done about that."

Of course, she wasn't going to admit to doing anything illegal to her cop brother. Not at all.

"Oh really? Congrats, Uri!"

"in my experience, just keep being yourself and he'll give up on you eventually."

or at least that's what happened to uri.

"hell yeah. i better not catch you doing some shady shit, or else..."

well, he'd have to lock her up, of course! but we all know uri would bend the rules just for the people he loves.

Jessie was a bit doubtful about that so far. It seemed that the more she was herself, the more aggressive her father was about changing her. Maybe it was because she was a girl. Stupid.

"What? You'd lock me up? Really?"

She played an innocent look, batting her eyes at her brother.

"i swore an oath, jessie."

if he still had his badge on him, he'd point to it.

he says nothing for a few moments as if to strengthen his stance on the matter. but finally, he breaks into a chuckle.

"but no, i wouldn't. you're my sister. i'd rather go on the run than lock you up."

Jessie stared at him for a moment. Was he serious? He'd send her to jail? Oh shit-

Then he laughed. The panic was still on her face, but she laughed nervously, trying to get over the fact he just scared the living mess out of her.

"You're a piece of shit, Uri. I swear."

"true, but i'm still your brother."

big brother, in fact, though the age difference between them hasn't really mattered that much growing up. they've always been close, maybe because they could only count on each other.

"anyways. let me know if dad bothers you again. i'll talk to him."
