Fortunately, Violet had, for once, bothered to read up on the rules of the place. Otherwise, she would have probably fumbled the task when she suddenly noticed an open flame on a nearby rock, dangerously close to the foliage. Just how this whole zone had not yet burnt down from having Pokemon like that running around without a care she would never know. Though one thing she did know was that said flame was powered by the life of the Litwick’s enemies. That was kind of eerie alright.

But that little candle was also very, very cute, so she picked one of the four balls given, took aim, and threw it at the Pokemon. Apparently, she was not allowed to battle the ‘Mons living here before attempting to catch them. Which was just about the only thing about Pokemon battles that she properly understood. But it was not possible here. Instead, she took a breath and aimed carefully, putting her all into the throw itself and hoping for the best.

Really, it was all she could do. But she’d be darned if she didn’t give her all if there was a Litwick on the line!

It worked! Nice, nice. Catching the ball on the rebound, Vio briefly held onto it, exhaling in a bit of relief. Catching Pokemon could be quite exhilarating – especially when one only had a very limited number of balls and therefore, attempts. Honestly, most of the time when running across Pokemon on her travels, she simply threw a ball here and there just because they were cheap and she might as well do it. Yet, with only four balls to her name, they suddenly felt a lot more weighty, a lot more important. Maybe she would come back to this in a few months, if this continued to be interesting. Kind of depended on whether or not she could, um, acquire another ticket as easily as she had this time around.

Either way, she accepted this for what it was and continued on her journey, figuring she could call that Litwick out on a later date. In here, she wasn’t supposed to. Instead, she simply walked on, deeper into the safari zone. It wasn’t just balls that were a bit more scarce though, but also Pokemon. Unlike some routes, they did not attack her in a stackatto or anything like that. She did not even run across any for a while until the sun was already at its zenith for the season.
Deciding to take that cue for a break, she’d climbed onto an uprooted tree and went for a bit of lunch. It was packaged in a leaf, something sold to her by someone in the foyer, apparently to reduce waste or something. Vio had not quite listened.

But a sandwich was a sandwich. It smelled good, too. Which, apparently, also went for a Cubone that after a few failed attempts – the desire to not let go of its bone could be a bit of a hindrance after all – climbed up as well and nudged her. She did give it a piece of the sandwich. [break][break]
Once they both finished eating, she figured just to try it and be a bit cheeky, simply booping the little Pokemon on the nose with the ball’s trigger to see what would happen.

Cubone went in and stayed in. That was refreshing. Maybe she did not have to hurt every single Pokemon she wanted to catch after all. Though she very much reserved to change her mind on that later, if necessary. For now, though, she considered her break over.

Hopping off the branch, she finally made her way towards the main attraction of the current safari zone, at least as far as she knew. An old, dipilitated building. It looked like it had been some kind of mansion, abandoned after some kind of viral outbreak or whatever. Though she possibly just had watched too much TV in that regard. The woes of someone who always stayed up late into the night and boredly flipped channels, really.[break][break]
Still, Violet did not feel scared at all. After all, this was more of an theme park attraction. The attendants had likely checked thrice to ensure that it was perfectly safe, so she just strolled in, blinking a few times to get used to the sparse lighting that came in through the cracks in the walls. It was a rather impressive place, after all, especially –

When she suddenly felt a push in the back, tripped and fell forward, just barely catching herself. There was an Impish laugh from behind. Which was fitting, since she was looking at an imp when she rolled over, noticed the Pokemon and just kind of angrily flung a ball at it, feeling reminded of a certain Minior indeed.

Sooo, that catch was slightly accidental. But that couldn’t be helped. It was caught now and that was that. She’d make use of it somehow. That wasn’t really the problem. Having more Pokemon was always good. However, well, the issue was that this still left her with only one ball to go. They had seemed plentiful not too long ago, but suddenly she felt very, very conscious about them and their use.

Hence, after getting up and dusting off, she decided to be a lot more careful. In a way, these balls were a bit too good at catching things. They kind of were her only defence against the Pokemon here,if they tried something again. Hence, when she heard something shuffling about in a nearby room, she only peeked through the half-open door instead of barging in with a catch order.
No, first, she wanted to take a good look.

And that Drowsee was way too ugly for her tastes. She just hushed by the door, up the stairs instead, deciding not to use her last ball on that.

The deeper she got into this mansion, the creepier the Pokemon got. But not in a good way. She loved ghosts, certainly. They had an otherworldly air about them, something that made them special, soothing and interesting. But bugs and psychics? They had a much bigger chance of just being ew. Granted, she did love her Frosmoth. But that weird crawly she saw passing by on top of the stairs?

No thanks. Especially since it looked like one of those things that the weird mineral lover almost got eaten by. And she could only imagine them as Tyranotaur treats right then. Hence, Violet did like the ghosts and quietly slipped by, letting the Dewpider do…whatever it was doing in peace.

A Noibat! That was a good use for her last ball, she figured. Not for her, personally. She’d much preferred the purple ones, they looked nicer. But she knew someone who was looking for this in particular, so she quickly decided to try at least. After all, a certain trade was better than hoping to find something better later. After all, she already had some nice Pokemon. This was the best use, she figured.

However, capturing it was not exactly super easy, either. It flew around back and forth, as if it was some sort of electric type. Thus, she took careful aim and threw the ball, hoping for the best.
