Luka's Mareep hangs back, not quite useful in a situation like this. But her Musharna swoops down to take care of the pack from above, while Bonbon is released to help manage things on the ground.[break][break]

All the while Luka just keeps on baa'ing, like it's her job. She feels ridiculous, but at least it seems to be working.[break][break]

Perhaps a bit too well. One Manectric splits from the pack and races to their hiding spot, following the noise. Lost in the chaos of the field, Luka doesn't notice it sprinting up behind her until it collides into her back with a powerful tackle, and she crashes gracelessly to the ground.

[attr="class","niko i"]it's only when her hand slips (or yanks) out of his that he looks over, seeing her on the ground with a manectric looming over her. having been too distracted in dealing with the pack, he must've missed one that deviated away.

"shit—"

even with no pokemon near him, he snaps a hand down and grabs the manectric by its neck. his muscles strain as he lifts it up before tossing it over to the side. it smacks against a tree, falling to the ground with a yelp.

and it's then that he takes a step forward, putting himself between poor luka and the manectric.

"i got you, miss."

Teeth glint as they draw closer and Luka can feel the Manectric's hot breath against the back of her neck. A heavy paw presses against her lower back, pinning her down. Luka lays there feebly, just like cornered prey, and squeezes her eyes shut as jaws threaten to snap around her throat.[break][break]

Instead the weight lifts, and all she hears is a thud and a whimper from the Manectric. She gapes over at Niko, staring at his back as he puts himself in harms way just to protect her.[break][break]

In that moment he resembles a knight— valiant and chivalrous, willing to go to such lengths for a stranger. Gratitude swells in her chest but the words don't come, stuck in a throat that's still lax with fear. Luka grunts softly as she tries to push herself up, bringing herself at least to sitting while her back aches. It's sure to bruise.[break][break]

The Manectric snarls and snaps as it leaps back to it's feet, only to be met with a barrage of stone shards from Luka's Mareep. The pink sheep charges in to defend her trainer as well, attacking with power gem to try and stave the beast off.

[attr="class","niko i"]niko is the furthest thing from a knight. chivalrous, sure, but only when there's something to gain, and right now, the reward is definitely worth the brief danger he finds himself in.

brief, because it doesn't take long for her mareep to come to their aid. his hand snaps towards his belt, calling out more help as well.

"put it to sleep!"

his trubbish blinks, confused for a second before coughing out a ball of POISON GAS. the manectric doesn't stay conscious for long.

he turns his attention back to luka, lowering to a knee in front of her.

"are you okay?"

"Ah, y-yeah. I think so. Thank you..." She grips his hand like a lifeline, and the look in her eyes is the kind of simpering devotion one might only bestow upon a savior. But Luka still winces as she stands, her lower back throbbing dully.[break][break]

"I'm sorry, though," she says quickly, addressing both him and her Mareep. "I should have been paying more attention, I should— oh!" She hasn't been keeping up their ruse! What about the Wooloo?[break][break]

She starts to softly baa again, though isn't sure what good it'll do. The bleating of the actual Wooloo seems to have stopped, and she prays that that's a good thing.

when she starts baaing again (which is both cute and amusing), he looks for his ditto only to see it TRANSFORM to a wooloo. it baas along with luka.

"Oh, thank goodness."[break][break]

Her relief is palpable and tension eases from her shoulders in waves. Luka beams over at Niko, an elated giggle dancing on her lips. "I can't believe that actually worked," she admits. "That was good thinking! Um...let's still go and check on them though, okay?"[break][break]

The grassy field has been trampled down and a few deep pawprints are embedded in the dirt below. The Wooloo are still huddled in one large, fluffy clump, staring warily at a Manectric that's asleep in the grass. Luka's Musharna hovers above it and with a flash of pinkish light it's teleported away, likely to join the rest of it's pack wherever Plum had sent them.[break][break]

The herd seems to relax after that. Luka baa's out her greeting to them, and dozens of yellow eyes swivel towards her. She's met with a chorus of happy baaing as the sheep advance, soon crowding around her and Niko in a sea of soft cotton.

her baas were spot-on. entirely convincing. much better than his ursaring roars which he might one day show her.

for now, he's busy being swarmed by a sea of soft cotton.

"they're...so...soft..."

the feeling of cotton brushing against his skin is unfamiliar, foreign, but he finds it oddly soothing as he squats, allowing them to crowd all around him and against his face as well.

he lets out a soft baa of his own, though it comes out more guttural than anything.

Luka lets herself drown in a sea of fluff, giggling as several cotton bodies push and press up against her, jostling for attention and some tender pats. She sinks down as well into the grass and is quickly swarmed, but doesn't seem to mind it much.[break][break]

She rests her cheek against the back of one Wooloo and glances over at Niko, giggling again. It's rather adorable that someone capable of literally throwing a Manectric can still be so gentle with the sheep.[break][break]

Gap moe.[break][break]

"Right? And they're soooo cute!" she gushes. Another Wooloo nudges against her hand and bleats at her. Luka responds in kind, and soon is holding court with several Wooloo, exchanging baa's back and forth even though it probably sounds ridiculous.[break][break]

Baaa[break]Baa?[break]Baaaaaa![break]Baa baa!

Her voice is muffled by the wool, face still stuffed into it. But eventually Luka's coaxed out of hiding by his touch and turns her head enough to look at him, her cheeks puffed in an adorable defiance.[break][break]
