Waylon stopped at the sound of the stranger's voice. One hand on his Absol's back, he glanced to the water-filled gourd on his hip. Usually more than willing to offer a hand to someone in need. Something about the man's rudeness rubbed him the wrong way.

"Sure, kid, but it'll cost ya five Poké."

Easy money if the lad was as parched as he claimed.

Behind the tinted lenses of his glasses, boredom's gray paint glazed Waylon's eyes. The tungsten claws of Dialga gripped all. He'd come to terms with that long ago. Being teased for wrinkles that would inevitably soil the stranger's delicate skin is little more than ironic.

He smiled and dug his fingers deeper into Absol's silver mane. "Not at all." he replied, wetting his lips.

"But if I can offer some advice - hunching like that will ruin your back. It's hardly necessary, anyway."

That said, he tapped the gourd on his hip and extended his hand. Money first, and then the stranger could quench his thirst.

taking a long drink, he brings it down to his waist at the man's question. before he could answer, valentine wipes his mouth with his sleeve. "not sure. haven't thought of them yet! each new pokemon comes with their own unique ones. i'm sure i'll find something later." cheery disposition, a wide smile. "aside from a walk, what brings you out here?"

"Yeah, I'll be sure to do that." When he got around to visiting her grave. It had been a while since the last time.

Waylon sighed and pushed his sunglasses against his face. The stranger's cheerful smile did little to dissuade the gloomful cloud that hung over him.

"Only out for a walk and to enjoy the open air. Don't get much time to myself these days." Between the kids at the orphanage and his reenlistment, Waylon barely had a moment to wipe his ass. Let alone go for a walk.

A hand slipped into his pocket at the spider's approach. He only offered it a glance before turning his attention back to its trainer.

"What's your name, kid?"

whatever dark clouds hang over the older man's head go seemingly unnoticed by valentine. or, at the very least, he doesn't seem to change his disposition to compensate. "ah, busy, busy, busy. i can relate." his time was entirely taken up in the pursuit of knowledge, not some menial employment to a region that didn't care about him.

"Less busy and more purposely overworked."

Waylon scratched the top of Absol's head, the sight of a Cacturne in the distance catching his eye. With a nod, he ordered the canine to attack.

Archangel didn't move, but the flash of her eyes stirred the wind. A gentle breeze turned harsh and sharp, condensing into a crescent sickle that launched ahead. Razor Wind tore into Cacturne's thorned skin, catching the Pokemon by surprise.

Seizing the moment, Waylon hurled a Poke Ball.

"Waylon." he replied, shifting his attention back to Valentine. "It's been a pleasure Valentine but my walk awaits." Waylon pushed ahead, Absol alongside him.

"Keep the gourd."
