an elderly couple, likely in their sixties, maybe more. they're in the middle of reaching up to pick some berries that are a bit too high for them. they're likely still here because they didn't hear the commotion earlier. you know, bad ears and all.

"they seem like easy targets."

he asks the egg on his shoulder, then looks back over at the scene. it doesn't look like one's giving in that easily, and so, with a sigh, he steps out towards them, approaching with a feigned smile.

"howdy! john here. that's my bad, i sprayed the wrong sort of pesticide on 'em earlier. if you wanna head back over to the ranch and explain to 'em i'm sure they'll swap over a new batch for you."

eventually, ahead, she slowed. tangling blue hair was pushed out of the way for a view behind her, and the sight of niko approaching. she turned and kept walking, if only not to be standing around waiting for arrest—but remained slow enough for him to easily catch up.[break][break]
her arms were crossed, but unfurled to take togepi from him again. there was no goo goo gaga voice this time.[break][break]
