or, no. she didn't mind ghosts. what she didn't like was the dark that came before them. darkness always had a way to blow a shiver up her spine, hence why she had her little pichu to try and keep the area around her lit. ghosts, however, came to a pretty close second. the officer is walking through the cemetery and - though she has no respects to pay in hoenn - stops before a few graves, leaving single flowers over the mounds of dirt. even if she has no one to pay her respects to, that doesn't stop her from coming with a bouquet of flowers with the intention to place on the graves out of courtesy. it's what her father taught her. and she would have carried on peacefully, just fine, kneeling down by another mound to say her prayer until the image of a large, cyclops ghost came out of seemingly nowhere, with hands open and arms stretched out to grab her. her immediate reaction? immediately gasp and yelp a bit, dropping the remaining flowers on the ground as she falls onto her rear. when she realizes just what had come from his abode, and her brows furrow. "oh, fuck me--"

Hadn’t missed a beat with it, either. If anything, he’d been actively waiting in anticipation upon his companion’s departure, and upon seeing the woman fall backward, the reaction had been more or less instantaneous. By no means had she been actually struck, but the impact of it, nonetheless, made it seem like she had undertaken some sudden bout of blunt force.[break][break]

”Easily spooked as ever, mmn, Officer~?” he cooed once within proper earshot, all while his cheeks rose with a broadened grin. Glancing towards the side for just a moment, he eyed the two Pokemon wandering by, and - before shifting his attention towards her, once more - had quickly pulled a free capsule from his belt and tossed it towards the ghost as it made its way through. ”You’d think you’d be a little more steeled given the line of work, no~?”[break][break]

he's so damn amused by her suffering, and she's deck him if it wouldn't be reported for assault of a civilian (though she knows he's anything but, and it makes her want to curl up into a ball with all the frustration in the world). she pouts, and you'd think she was a chipmunk with a filled cheek pouch. "not funny." she brushes the dirt off her, picking up the flowers that've fallen to the ground. [break][break]

she gives a glance at the pokemon, and another pokeball is thrown at the passing duo. "i'm not scared, nor easily startled" unless it's by a giant ghost that comes out of seemingly nowhere, in the middle of a cemetery, when she's alone, but that's a detail he doesn't need to know. [break][break]

"and what are you doing here?"

Truthfully, there had been a sort of solace that he found within the embrace of such environments that others would deem unnerving, and even borderline dangerous. The idea of ghosts being nothing more than malevolent and indignant seemed to be a fairly common misconception to any and all that dared to trek winded roads and darkened paths, and anything else of the sort. It was an unfair assumption.[break][break]

Ghosts were, indeed, real.[break]
They were just misunderstood.[break][break]

...It was a sad, relatable thing, honestly speaking.[break][break]

”Agree to disagree, Officer,” Ryeong had began with a light chirp within his tone, ”but I assure you, I was here only for the sake of being here~.” He spared a glance towards the scenery around them for but a moment, watching briefly as the next creatures to drift and step their ways across had done so. ”Believe it or not, I actually find some solace in places like this~.”[break][break]

.. but maybe she doesn't mind it a bit, seeing that she always seems to be in the presence of one. she hates how he can sneak up behind her and put his hands on her shoulders, prompting anxiety and discomfort as she narrows her eyes. her arms are crossed, and the space between her brows scrunch slightly. "or you could be causing trouble.." and she glances at the passing pokemon, both of which were relatively harmless. [break][break]

shifting her gaze back to the flowers, she raises a hand to gently adjust and rearrange the heads of each. she's careful not to crush them, and is thankful that the blunt force hadn't flattened the flora - more than he already rained on her parade. [break][break]

.. as long as he wasn't causing trouble. [break][break]

she doesn't say much else afterwords, but she does finish up with the flowers before turning her attention back to him. "how sentimental of you" she starts, beginning to walk to the next grave that yet needed a flower laid upon the mound ".. don't startle me like that in this place, though."

”And why would I be causing trouble, mmn~?” he chimed rather teasingly, tilting his head as his gaze lingered upon hers. As if reflecting the fold of her own arms, he merely shifted his arms down and towards his sides, slipping his fingers loosely into his pockets as he shifted his attention to briefly eye their surroundings. ”Scares aside, who do you take me for, mmn? Someone who would desecrate a sacred ground like this~?”[break][break]

He shook his head, clicking his tongue.[break][break]

”...Because I can assure you that whatever unfavorable assumptions you have of me, I’d never cause trouble in a place like this~.”[break][break]

The pure, unbridled truth- but whether or not she believed as much was something that was purely up to her, of course. He tapped his foot upon the grasses beneath them as he watched the new, ghastly creatures loom and linger within the area, and after some thought, he shifted one of his hands towards one of the free capsules upon his person, and - after dislodging it - took care to toss it towards the pair of blades ambling through. ”...Assumptions aside, though, you could stand to lighten up a bit, Officer~.” His smile remained continuous, albeit a tad bit coy as he side eyed her once more. ”It was just a small means of fun, is all~. No need to take it so seriously.”[break][break]

".. i apologize for the accusation." her voice is lowered, and the apology is quiet and quick. pray that he doesn't latch onto it as a means to irritate her. "but you'd do well to know that i--" a gasp suddenly escapes her, just as a passing litwick had eavesdropped into the conversation, opting to scare the woman with a harmless ASTONISH. it was so sudden, she finds herself instinctively moving, inches from latching onto a man's coat. she pauses. she catches herself. then she pulls her hand away and clears her throat. [break][break]

He hummed, taking note of the expression and words offered to him within a calm, yet seemingly amused manner all the while. Look at her, apologizing so easily and quickly after being called out the way she was. Truthfully speaking, he knew that she had been well within her rights to be so skeptical of him, and truthfully speaking, he commended her for being as such.[break][break]

Nevertheless, how dare she make assumptions based on his outward character?[break][break]

It was an unspoken question offered through little more than the returned one of his own, from the manner in which his lip quirked within a faint smirk, and as a brow of his arched similarly so. Narrowing his eyes faintly, he merely tilted his head in thought before vaguely - barely - beginning to open his lips in response, though stopped himself short at the sudden appearance of a little, flickering spirit. His gaze focused upon it for a few moments before gradually straying towards the woman, herself, as she latched upon his arm.[break][break]

He gave a low, musing chuckle as he nudged her, all while taking a free Pokeball and tossing it towards one of the approaching creatures. ”...Everything about this is hilarious, Officer~,” he hummed in response, his smile broadening.[break][break]

she needs to stop herself from raising her voice, but it's so difficult when there's someone next to her who's so eager to push buttons. though he may be a criminal, and one that evaded her while standing so close, she can't help but to feel a twang of guilt when she's stepped out of line. when she's been a bit too harsh. stubborn as a bull she is, which is why it's so difficult to admit defeat to begin with. she pulls herself away from his arm, a hue of pink kissing the tips of her ears and her cheeks alike. there has to be something around she can distract herself with as she calms down - anything. that anything happened to be an alakazam walking about, searching for the kadabra she just caught moments ago. [break][break]

but she doesn't know that. [break][break]

so she throws a pokeball at the wandering pokemon, before giving the man another, slight glare "don't give me that look.." she furrows her brows, attempting to move away "i happen to do poorly around ghost pokemon" excuses are made, and she finds herself gently fiddling with the pendant of a necklace, how ever instinctively "many people do."
