Niko's question caught her off guard. Approve of Niko? Jessie's fingers drummed against his chest before she spoke.

"He doesn't even approve of me. He'd hardly approve of you," she answered quietly.

Honestly, she figured that he'd never approve of anyone she'd choose to be with, unless he picked out her partner himself.

"But, we don't need his approval. All that matters is how I feel," Jessie said with defiance, tilting her head up to look at him.

Of course Niko knew how she felt. She had already conveyed her feelings when they had shared the shower together, when he said being together was possible. Was he just dying to see her blush?

Because she could feel it on her face, all over her body as it grew warm.

"... I think you're the best thing that's come into my life in a long time. You make me happy. I feel like I actually belong somewhere when I'm around you. That I'm worth something and valued."

Jessie bit her bottom lip as she glanced to the side shyly.

"I like you. A lot. So much that it hurts."

Perhaps what she said, what she meant, was that she loved him. But relationships were still early in the making, and…

She didn’t want to scare him away.

So Jessie would smile and reach to touch his cheeks with her hands before pulling him closer to kiss him. Like she couldn’t get enough.

”I’m glad… Niko…” she spoke between kisses.

Jessie didn’t want to sleep. She just wanted to enjoy the moment with him, in their safe little bubble, kissing him and enjoying the feeling of being his. His Jessie.

But of course, she would grow exhausted. Her eyes opened as she peered at him after he asked her if she was tired, lidded with exhaustion from the river of emotions and the fight she had this evening.

”I suppose so… as much as I don’t want to sleep.”

Of course she’d want to do anything but sleep.

”Are you?”

"You'll be here when I wake up, right?"

She accepted his kiss, the last they'd share before falling asleep in her bed that was probably still too crammed for poor Niko.

Her eyes began to flutter shut as she curled against him, relishing his warmth and his comforting presence.

"Please don't leave me..." she murmured before falling into a slumber beside him, her words holding more than one implication if anyone decided to delve into their true meaning.
