The request hung in the air for a moment as Felix lightly rattled his drink.

The ice within it clattered against the glass, causing the dark liquid to slosh between each cube, like an unsettled ocean. His dim eyes then flickered over to the woman.

"Depends on the game."

Roulette? Blackjack? Poker? If it brought a spark of interest, he might consider it. As long as it didn't include the highly decorated slot machines, which had replaced the typically tropical fruits with different shapes of ornaments.

An unwavering dull look remained in his eyes. Even when the brazen woman leaned her body inches away from his, Felix only averted his gaze back towards the machines. 

He pondered the choices for a few moments.

Then, with a decision clear on his mind, he brought the glass to his lips, took one last sip of his drink and gave  his answer: "Is blackjack fine with you?"

If agreed upon, he would lift himself from the booth stool  and await for the other to follow.

He mimicked her movements - though much more rigidly - and finished off his own drink. Then, with an impassive expression, he led the woman to the nearest blackjack table.



All-too-knowing glances and nods were the methods of conversation throughout the casino floor, but that wasn't anything out of the ordinary in Slateport City. Felix turned a blind eye to it all as he took his place along one of the red chairs set around the table.



He gave the dealer a nod of acknowledgment before turning to his side and, for the first time, instigated some conversation.



"Do you frequently come here?"

What an odd answer, he had thought.

These types of responses always left the bodyguard dumbfounded. Weaseling out the hidden meanings behind each cryptic word wasn't exactly a strength of his, so...he simply chose not to engage with it.

"Ah." His pale eyes returned to the table without another word. Soon, three more faceless men flocked to the empty seats to their. The game could officially begin.

The dealer was a stoic woman with broad shoulders and a firm frown. She took no bullshit from the guests around her, meeting each inappropriate coo with an eyebrow arch that blankly stated her willingness to fight. She was the type of person Felix preferred-- easy to read, just like him. The game's start was marked by the thud of cards shuffling into one another.

Felix fished out a wad of cash from his pocket, exchanging it for $100 dollars worth of chips. It wasn't much, but he didn't have the luxury to afford more right now, so it would have to do. The dealer then dealt out the cards to each guest.

"..."

An Ace and an eight stared back at him, while only a three faced the dealer's side of the table.

Fingers drumming against the plush counter top, Felix's gaze dropped down to the pair of cards in front of him. As the dealer went around the table, asking the typical "hit or pass", his 'lucky charm' cradled his ear and whispered to him.

"So.. is there any chance I can take you home after this?"

His eyes glanced over to her; they traced the outline of her jawline to her collar bone to her lips.

"Hit or pass, sir?"

"Hit." His finger tapped the the table. The dealer obliged to his response, dealing him another card, but his gaze didn't falter. It remained still, patiently taking it's time to notice every detail this persistent woman had to offer. Then, before moving his eyes back onto his hand, he whispered back a response, "Sure."

The card he had been dealt was an unsurprising 2 of hearts.

The rest of the game didn't stray far from their first round. Excluding a couple of losses, Felix slowly accumulated small pool of chips that ultimately added up to around 3k. Feeling bored with the situation, he signaled to the dealer that he was leaving the table. She nodded, finished shuffling the deck that was in her hands, then swiftly exchanged his chips for cash.

A few irritated faces stared back at the pair as they prepared to leave. Some even took it upon themselves to loudly whisper their unsavory thoughts, but none of that mattered to him. Not until they began prodding at the woman as well. Sexist and hate filled comments dripped from their saliva heavy mouths, forcing anyone within the area to listen in.

Felix grunted loud enough to garner their attention. Then, with a pair of venomous eyes, he coiled his arm around the woman's waist and led her away from the table. Once they grow far enough from the table, he muttered an soft, "lead the way."
