I wanna become a Pokémon!

Andrea Vaneau is a PokéManiac who can be found traveling all around Hoenn, researching Pokémon in her own weird way, and getting involved in various wacky hijinks! She is keenly interested in myths about humans transforming into Pokémon, believing them to hold some degree of scientific truth.

PERSONALITY & TROPES

Andrea is eccentric, a little air-headed, kind, and optimistic. Her name follows Gamefreak's naming conventions when it comes to dragon trainers. It also sounds like a bastardization of "Andvaranaut", the magic ring from Norse mythology that turned Fafnir into a dragon, alluding to her wanting to become a Pokémon. PokéManiacs are featured wearing dragon suits in some of the games, so Kiryu Coco was chosen as her FC due to having a dragon costume that fit the aesthetic (also because Coco is love). The main tropes I drew inspiration from were Cloudcuckoolander, Genki Girl, and Innocent Fanservice Girl.

Befriending Andrea is relatively easy. If one can look past her eccentricity, she is very compassionate and supportive of people's dreams, no matter what those dreams may be. She does not discriminate between League and Rocket, believing decent people to exist on both sides of the ongoing conflict. As long as a character loves their Pokémon, she considers them a friend.

Conversely, it takes a lot to make her genuinely hate someone. One would have to do something truly despicable in order to bring about her ire, or actively try to hurt one of her friends, in which case she would respond with the ferocity of a rampaging dragon! She would not automatically consider a Rocket member her enemy, unless they willfully harmed people or Pokémon.

For any potential shipping plots, please take into account that Andrea is asexual. No, that is not going to change. She understands how romance works, and yes, she does know about the birds and the bees, but it is not something she is interested in. Platonic ships are A-OK though!

CURRENT PLOTS

METAMORPHOSIS
No, not that Metamorphosis. Andrea has dreamed of becoming a Pokémon since childhood, even if that would mean permanently losing her humanity. So far, everything points to it being impossible, but she has not given up, considering various scientific as well as occult avenues to achieve her goal, and even asking legendaries such as the wish maker Jirachi for help.

BLACK & WHITE
Andrea is coming to terms with the fact that not everyone in the League is "good" and not everyone in Rocket is "evil". She understands that the League helps hundreds of civilians on a daily basis, but at the same time, she is disillusioned with their militaristic shift, especially when it comes to the Gym challenge. She understands that Team Rocket as an organization promotes the torture and abuse of Pokémon, but she now knows that decent people can exist within the syndicate. As she expands her horizons by meeting more and more people from both factions, her once black and white perception is gradually becoming more grey.

Witnessing the horrors of war, Andrea just wishes for all the fighting to stop. Meeting several people from both factions who share that sentiment, she has come to realize that the League and Rocket are not so different after all, and believes that peace is possible as long as people can find common ground or a common enemy. The thing getting in the way is usually human pride and stubbornness.
