INTRODUCTION

THE MINOR LEAGUE is a bridge that helps a character obtain a spot for the major league. Officially, the system aims to give rising stars another platform to showcase their skills. Unofficially, it serves as a branch that scouts for gym leader candidates.

THE MINOR LEAGUE IS NOW DIRECTED BY COMMISSIONER dahlia goode WHILE TOP CHAMPION kyle lopez CONSULTS AND PARTICIPATES FOR FUN.

Similar to the Major League, trainers under the Minor League are also expected to take in challenges, though they do not award official badges. These battles are intended for education for the challenger, and experience for the gym leader.[break][break]

This is an experimental project by the League. The first few years will be considered as a trial run before it will be put up for deliberation as an official program of the League.[break][break]

The Minor League is a playground for battles. Feel free to have fun and go wild as long as you know that actions have consequences.[break][break]

GYM LEADERS

MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE are expected to maintain their own gyms up to a standard. While lacking prestige and power of a normal gym leader, they are also exempt from social responsibilities. Many are even considered civilians.[break][break][break]

Signing up is simple and easy, although a screening test weeds out people who aren't dedicated for the role. Only those that pass a written and practical exam about Pokémon battles are given a go.[break][break]

The process ends with a simple questionnaire. Answers are to be confidential. This does not affect the acceptance procedure.

Trainers registered in the system are given a modest stipend for their 'gyms'. While free to establish them at any place within the region, the Trainer Hill north of Mauville helps provide those that cannot or refrain to do so a base of operations.

For a more authentic experience, the gym leader may opt to follow standard rules for the site's gyms, and even award badges of their own. Nevertheless, the League will be keeping a close eye on these minor gym leaders— and may be visited by higher-ups for inspection, networking, and more.[break][break]

Finished threads award a gym's non-traditional battle reward of 125 PD. Furthermore, posts from inactive characters will also be removed.

TRAINER HILL

INTRODUCTION

THE BATTLE ARCADE is situated at the topmost floor of the TRAINER HILL, which is located north of MAUVILLE CITY. It is ran by the minor league director, kyle lopez, and opens up for challenges whenever he's free, mostly weekends.[break][break][break]

The floors are tiles that light up in bright lights while the ceiling itself is covered with balloons. Numerous screens are planted on the walls, with a large, primary one called THE GAME BOARD sits as the center of attraction. The gym's gimmick relies on results shown by the board.[break][break]

THE GAME BOARD

The gym aims to test a trainer's FLEXIBILITY when faced with unpredictable circumstances. LUCK will also come into play for any challenger that wants to play.[break][break]

BEFORE THE START of every challenge, the gym leader will allow the challenger to CHOOSE for either a standard match or one by his rules. Should the challenger choose the latter, A ROULETTE is rolled to determine how the match will be played out.[break][break]

RULES

During the first turn, the person to send their pokemon first issues the first move.
Use of Perish Song or Destiny Bond gives Kyle permission to change a Pokemon in his lineup
Use Wailord at your own risk because your character will fucking die from asphyxiation
Threads that haven't been posted on for at least two months will be archived

THE CHALLENGE

TRADITIONAL BATTLE

A match of UP TO THREE pokemon can be taken by the challenger. The format can either be singles or doubles depending on the challenger's choice. The DEFAULT FORMAT will be 3V3 DOUBLE BATTLE if they leave it up to the gym leader.[break][break]

Kyle will most likely use ELECTRIC-TYPE POKEMON during this match.

NON-TRADITIONAL BATTLE

You walk up to the gym leader and he presents you a big red button. Once pressed, he guides your attention to the screen. Multiple icons show up, divided in tiles, and a border of one such tiles is highlighted in yellow. It starts to move from one icon to another in blinding speed, decelerating until it lands on one.[break][break]

Challengers start the thread with SIX POKEMON (or less if they do not have enough) listed on their first post. The gym leader rolls with the roll command to determine the EVENT from the GAME BOARD after the challenger presses the button. The results from the roll can be consulted on the table below.[break][break]

For EVERY OTHER TURN after the first pokemon is sent out, a new roll is made. Events from these INTERMEDIARY ROLLS consult a separate table from the first and affect the battle with varying effects. A challenger can have as many REROLLS as they can for every win against other Minor League Gym Leader.[break][break]

The DEFAULT FORMAT for the match will be 3V3 DOUBLE BATTLE, unless the gym leader doesn't feel like it.

introduction

Andrea Vaneau has applied for the minor league following Callan Young's advice, choosing the Vaneau family ranch as her base. Situated in the outskirts of FALLARBOR TOWN, it is a sprawling Pokémon Breeding ranch emblematic of rural farm life. The only indicator that it is even a gym are the two Rhydon statues adorning the front gate.

The theme of this gym is bonds. No matter what shape or size they come in, every Pokémon is worth treasuring. By strengthening our bonds with them, every obstacle can be overcome. Trainers that pass this gym's challenges are rewarded an unofficial MONSTER BADGE.

For the non-traditional challenge, you will be tasked with making a sandwich with 5 ingredients. No, this is not a joke. The level that one is bonded with their Pokémon can be gauged through small everyday activities.

You must add 1 ingredient to the sandwich per post, and you must use the roll command in each post. Having your Pokémon help you in the sandwich-making process (e.g. using a Pokémon with a slicing move to slice the ingredients, using Nacli’s salt to add flavor to the sandwich, etc.) will add 10 to your roll (cannot go higher than 100).

Once your sandwich is complete, you must eat it together with your Pokémon. The average of your 5 rolls will determine the quality of your sandwich. Your rolls will not affect the outcome of the challenge. The purpose is to test how bonded you are with your Pokémon, not to evaluate your cooking skills. If you make a bad sandwich, you must share the pain of eating it together.

Hyrule Castle (Sky) - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Introduction

Located near Mauville Hills at Mauville City, the Gloomy Castle stands as an ominous-looking gothic style castle. The castle's appearance itself has a Galarian influence and by recommendation from Josh Devlin that she should start applying for the Minor League, the gym leader, Elise Calcifet , opens up to challengers whenever she's free, preferably when she's not doing ambassadorial work. Outside of the castle is a garden in the main courtyard filled with red roses.[break][break]

Upon entering through its large wooden double doors, the main entrance hall has several rooms in the first floor: a library, a study, an art gallery, the break room for the gym's employees which the dining room is adjacent to, and the arena itself is in the large spacious grand hall where the candelabras lit up by the purple flames of her Chandelure's fire. Several of Elise's Ghost type Pokemon can be seen hanging about though they will get to their places in battle if traditional challenges are made. The grand staircase to the second floor is used for the non-traditional challenge. A receptionist lady stands at the minor league gym's front desk where she asks challengers to wait for the gym leader to receive them.[break][break]

The gym leader is likely to use Ghost type Pokemon, but those who have dual typings to ensure that it's not very predictable.

Rules

No killing Pokemon whatsoever!
Usage of the moves, Perish Song or Destiny Bond is not allowed.
Usage of legendary Pokemon, Ultra Beasts, mythicals, Mega Evolution, and terastalization are allowed, but needed to be discussed prior to the challenge first.
If challenges are not responded to within a month, the thread is archived and a slot will open up in the queue. Extensions can be made in advance as long as you DM!

Non-Traditional Challenge

The non-traditional challenge involves exploring through the labyrinth of hallways up at the second floor with fake, illusory doors to confuse people into looking for the actual ones. Several rooms have Small Keys required to unlock the other locked rooms to progress. Locked rooms will have a Small Key to unlock the other room. These rooms have puzzles requiring rolls where the challenger can use any of Elise's Pokemon to help with a bonus to rolls made to successfully complete them or they can use their own. (Elise's Pokemon have a bonus +10 to rolls). Challengers can only use one Pokemon in their teams out at a time to help solve puzzles. (Challengers' own Pokemon will have a +7 bonus to their rolls for solving puzzles).[break][break]

Pokemon teams brought to the non-traditional challenge cap out at a max of 6 Pokemon.[break][break]

A Dungeon Map and Compass are in big chests in separate unlocked rooms, Small Keys are in small chests, and a mini boss fight awaits in the room with the ornate chest containing the Boss Key. Once the Boss Key is obtained, the challenger can unlock a door at the end of the labyrinthine hallway which takes them to the throne room. Be careful, a boss fight awaits at the throne room too, so make sure you're extra prepared! [break][break]

Completion of this non-trad challenge also awards the unofficial Phantom Badge.

♡ THE PSYCHEDELIC CHATEAU is an antique-styled castle-like structure resting on the edge of Evergrande City right past a brilliant botanical garden, staffed entirely by fairy-type and grass type pokemon- and the gym leader when summoned. Donning an open floor plan with brilliant glistening vines of flowering flora and seemingly empty paintings, the gimmick of this gym rests in ornate glowing bowls in front of both the battling and course chambers.[break][break]

Inside these bowls rest a single pill loaded with mushroom spores, which if ingested, causes the vision of the one consuming to blossom into a hallucinogenic dreamscape, revealing the melding colors painting each wall's canvases- and a few other effects most hallucinogens grant to the psyche. Don't be scared, however, because with indulgence comes plentiful gifts within most challenges, refreshments included.[break][break]

while consumption of the spore pill is optional when challenging DESIREE BLOOMS in a traditional battle, taking the approved substance is encouraged for preparation against the oddities that may be in store for hoenn as a whole.[break][break]

♡ nontraditional pokemon battles are the same criteria above, though with the consumption of the mushroom spore pill. challengers will take the pill alongside the gym leader and face the hallucinations together, though set against each other, in battle. taking this will cause those consuming to face psychedelic visuals, such as swirling colors and a blurring or delay in vision, heightened anxieties, and may cause struggles in conveying commands to challenging pokemon. nontraditional battles will go into traditional slots.[break][break]

♡ winning the battle against the gym leader will result in being granted the psychedelic badge.

OBSTACLE COURSES

♡ nontraditional obstacle course challenges are a race to the finish line- which can sometimes be a struggle due to the exertion of physical capabilities while on the mushroom spore pill. made to test physical alongside mental while under the influence of hallucinogenic effects, challengers are able to select one of three courses: spin, slide, or shoot. click the titles for visual references![break][break]

♡ during obstacle course challenges, challengers will bring one pokemon alongside them to compete in the race against the gym leader. due to the nature of this challenge, to test physical capabilities of the trainer and dependence on their pokemon, any pokemon riding must be ground-based if wished for (flying over the course or anything similar will cause disqualification); this challenge can also be done on foot beside a pokemon, and is encouraged.[break][break]

riding vs. doing it on foot will yield same results, one is not better than the other. race progression will revolve around dice rolls, the creativity of using pokemon moves unconventionally to assist, and prompts posted by the gym leader. more information below:

♡ ROLLS: challengers will begin the race with a single roll, and any additional rolls necessary will be requested in prompts.[break][break]

1-25: failure to advance to the next obstacle.[break][break]
26-35: advances to next obstacle, though will take disadvantage on next roll.[break][break]
36-75: advances to next obstacle.[break][break]
76-100: advances to next obstacle, and will take advantage on next roll.[break][break]

♡ POKEMON MOVES:[break]
once per post, the companion pokemon may use a move/be commanded to use a move to assist the trainer in traversing the obstacles. the more creative the better![break][break]

for example, a pokemon attempting to use a move to block an approaching ball, a pokemon using a move to stop a spinning obstacle from moving so fast, a tailwind to run faster, support moves, etc! these moves must positively affect the trainer, sabotaging the rival racer is not allowed; by using a move creatively this way, it will net the trainer advantage on their next roll in their following post.

♡ winning against the gym leader or successfully overcoming the effects of the hallucinations with a positive outlook the entire race will net the challenger the psychedelic badge.
