The goal was to snipe out valuable, possibly shiny, wild pokemon from the couple of rangers that were helping guard the rear of the herd moving through. Mint and his partner needed to quickly and efficiently capture, or chase away for a different team to capture, the most valuable pokemon in the herd. Simple. Flirt with a ranger, wait for the avalanche, act surprised while the other person lures the scared pokemon to where they need to go. [break][break]

So then why was he practically arguing with his partner behind the ranger’s back right now? He clearly had not understood the assignment. The brief had specified the honey pot would take care of the ranger while the other grunt helped with the avalanche. So then why??? Was he??? Interrupting his passes?! Mint did his best to smile cutely and ask silly questions, but his patience was starting to run thin. Before he could say something else, their ranger escort, the one assigned to the front heard a call form the one in the front. “Excuse me, lads.” He said with a nervous grin before trotting away to join up with his partner. [break][break]

As soon as he was gone Mint turned to Caprice Isaac . “What are you doing?! We’re stepping all over each other’s toes! Who’s gonna get the shiny bergmites?!” he whisper yelled at the fellow Rocket.

He should've expected some nonsense like this from a kid named Mint Frost. He kept having to lean back any time their mark looked away and give sharp, angry glances to his partner. There was a plan and this guy was not sticking to it. Cap was trying to keep the ranger's attention, but Mint kept pulling it away with stupid, coy giggling and inane questions. Why wouldn't he just shut up and get in position? The ranger excused himself and Cap's attention snapped to his partner.[break][break]

"What the hell are you talking about? I'm doing my job." He scoffed, glancing back up to the front of the herd where the two rangers were talking. "I got hired because I'm good with people," he hissed. "So clearly you're the one who's supposed to snatch the Pokemon. How could this be any clearer?" Cap pinched the bridge of his nose with a gloved hand, sighing. "Look, I get it, you're probably new. You got your wires crossed, that's fine. We can still salvage this if you'll just get with the fucking program and get ready to snatch those Bergmite."

Mint could feel his hackles raising as the blonde argued with him. Clearly, he hadn’t been paying attention at the brief earlier. “They meant me when they were talking about the distraction.” The grunt hissed back, getting more annoyed by Cap seemingly pitying his confusion. He wasn’t confused. He gestured at himself and his particularly nice winter outfit. “Clearly, I’m the one that’s better suited for the job.” It had been a silent battle, Mint attempting to signal Caprice to slip away while he kept the ranger occupied. [break][break]

This was getting them nowhere though, but by now, it was a matter of pride. “In any case, what do you expect me to do now? Excuse myself and start an avalanche?” Not out of the realm of possibility for him, but a little humiliating. And also, not the subtlest way to remove himself form the situation but he was stuck here now. And even if he didn’t like it, if Caprice was going to insist, he would acquiesce. If only because he was more interested in capturing the pink Bergmite than proving he was the better flirt. Which he was.

Cap couldn't help but scoff, glancing back to the chatting Rangers and offering them a disarming smile and a wave. Through gritted teeth, he muttered to Mint, "I didn't want to say it, but of the two of us, clearly"—he mimicked Mint's tone in a sing-song voice on that word in particular—"I'm the hot one. The hot one is always the distraction."[break][break]

"Ugh, no." If he couldn't trust his partner to know what his role in the grift was, there was no way Cap could trust him to do something like start an avalanche that wouldn't kill them. "Look," he hissed as the Rangers argued about something—which direction was the safest to take the Bergamite, maybe?—"When he comes back over here, come up with a good reason I had to leave. And for fuck's sake keep him distracted."[break][break]

Hiding the flash of light with his body, Cap released Fei Lian. Even floating right in front of them, the Frosmoth nearly disappeared in the blindingly white snow around them. "Give 'em a good gust," Cap whispered as he ducked behind the Pokemon. With him out of the way, Fei Lian fluttered his wings, whipping up a Powder Snow that was intended to both distract and cover Cap's escape. He slipped behind a corner in the path and began his ascent of the opposite side of a steep hill, with Fei Lian fluttering lazily after him. He'd have to be in just the right spot to pull this off.

He felt himself getting heated as Caprice asserted himself as 'the hot one'. Ok yes, and??? He was the best suited for a face job. What the hell was he supposed to do, bring a mountain down like Mulan? Mint's soured expression switched instantly into some saccharine sweet. "I'll make sure they know not to check on you and your sudden case of IBS." he said as he gave the blonde a finger wave. [break][break]

Whether or not this was acknowledged didn't matter as the blonde slipped off. He bounced forwards towards the two rangers, clinging to one in particularly as they asked him whereabout Cap had gone. The Rocket kept up the story well that Cap was incapacitated, but not to the extent he needed any help or assistance at the moment. "He'll catch up with us, and if anything I can always send a pokemon as a runner." the twink assured continuing to pull the rangers away from the scene of the crime to be.
