Even now, after all this time, everything about Freya is familiar. It's as if nothing has changed about the two of them. Memories and emotions of the past creep up in the back of her mind, feelings of nostalgia and longing. The emotions she has for this woman are like a hunger, and she's been starving for a long time now.[break][break]

Her eyes open as Freya pulls away, takes hold of her sides, and peers into her face. While Freya's eyes are piercing and warm, filled with dragonfire and energy, Emma's are still cold and hard - difficult to read.[break][break]

But, for someone like Freya Morningstar, they probably speak volumes. And this time, Emma's eyes are portraying sadness and defeat - guilt and remorse. There's a lifetime of regret hidden behind those haunted eyes.[break][break]

[attr="class","freypost"]this is the present. and freya is, and has always, looked desperately towards the future. all that time ago, eventually, she'd gotten emma to look there, too. and her resolve is simple: she'll just have to do it again.

but i can't ignore what she's done. she's a criminal now. i can't exactly see her publicly. even as logic slowly worms its way through her fog of optimism, she refuses to relent. people are given second chances. people can change. people have always been forced to do things out of their control, for their own safety.

if i hadn't stopped her, she would have killed an innocent man today.

but she hadn't wanted to. she doesn't want to, this much freya knows, and regardless of how much blood is on her hands, freya knows she can be saved. she takes her hands then, presses her soft knuckles delicately against her lips.

"then i'll bring you back. you can't argue with me when my mind's made up, ems, you know that." she withdraws then, as the door to the model's chambers opens again.

"we can't stay here. lie low for a bit, stay in mauville for a few days. i'll send word to you." she squeezes emma's hands tighter. "you were always meant to be my future. let me help you."

Emma is shaking. Her once stone cold and confident stature is gone, replaced by fear and unease. Freya's determination has opened up a whole wave of new emotions and reactions. [break][break]

Her ice cold fingers are warmed by both Freya's hands and her lips pressed against her skin. She glances slowly from her knuckles to her friend's face, uncertainty a raging storm across her features.[break][break]

The longer the two remain on the roof, the more restless she becomes. Even her spiders have grown more anxious, as if waiting for someone or something to come out of the shadows and discover them. This, the two of them together, sharing such a tender and precious moment.. it was wrong.[break][break]

Emma should be in handcuffs, should be restrained, maybe even beaten for what she had been about to do. Not being given affection and love and promises that surely couldn't be kept. [break][break]

"I know, Frey. You're unstoppable."[break][break]

Her words seem hollow though, a sad smile on her face. Emma wasn't the same naive and hopeless romantic she had been as kids. She had been down that path twice now, and it had nearly destroyed her both times. Seeing Freya now had started to open a long since healed wound.[break][break]

At the mention of lying low, Emma looks up from her trance. No one had spotted them yet, but it wouldn't take long for someone from Rocket to try and contact her, to confirm she had done what she had been ordered to do. [break][break]

"I... I'll wait for you."[break][break]

She tenses then, a dull vibration in her pocket causing her spiders to grow agitated and uneasy. Emma pulls her fingers from Freya abruptly, a shadow falling over her face as she takes a step back. [break][break]

"I need to leave. Protect that boy down there, Freya. Whoever they send next.. they won't fail as I did."[break][break]
