As it turns out, apparently the security guards at Lilycove’s department store did a really poor job at making sure no wild pokémon broke into the building and caused trouble for their customers. She had been there by coincidence during the holidays when a Trapinch had nested in the vents, but apparently this time they had at least learned one lesson and decided to call the local rangers once trouble first showed itself.

Once arriving at the scene and being told what was going on, she couldn’t help the shock in her voice despite her best efforts, because Caterpie were rarely the sort of pokémon that caused trouble like this, and the phrase ’giant Caterpie at the furniture store’ sure wasn’t one she heard every day.

”I’ll… go look for them…”

Being a ranger was exciting to say the least, more than they originally anticipated. Lux was being put in predicaments he never would’ve imagined in his wildest dreams. Like, giant Caterpie invading unsuspecting shopping malls for example..[break][break]
It’s a good thing he got out a lot, otherwise this would’ve stunned him into a concerning silent state of shock.[break][break]
Well, he’s still reeling a little bit from reading that mission report. But no matter![break][break]
Spotting another ranger, he’s quick to join them.[break][break]
“Hey! I’m Lux, your backup. Or well.. I wonder if you r-really need “backup” in a situation like this?” He lets out a little awkward laugh. “Thankfully Caterpie aren’t very fast, or much of a threat. So we shouldn’t have much trouble gathering them up!”[break][break]
He smiles. “Have any customers spotted one yet?”[break][break]

Being assigned a partner for a ranger mission was no rarity, in fact, it was pretty much expected in most cases. Still, when it came to something like this, it felt like a bit of a waste. How hard could it be to deal with something as slow and harmless as a Caterpie inside a furniture store?

Apparently, her partner for the day wholeheartedly agrees.

”Hey! Two heads work better than one, right? Who knows, maybe together we can get this over with quickly.” She smiles at him, a light chuckle leaving glossy lips.

”Last I heard, it was in the furniture store. I was thinking of having my Growlithe help us track it down by scent.”

It’s then that she reaches for a Safari Ball, from it releasing the Growlithe of gold-toned fur she caught all too recently. She has been training it since then, and the results are promising. It barks at them, wagging its fluffy tail excitedly.

”Oh… I’m Lia, by the way. Nice to meet you!”

Though Lux takes his job very seriously he can’t help but find the situation a bit humorous. It wasn’t anything neither of them couldn’t handle themselves. Though everything happens for a reason. Maybe they were paired together because of that![break][break]
“A pleasure to meet you, Lia. Growlithe! A great choice and a beautiful coat might I add.” He smiles. “My Meowstic, Sirius, will be with me today; he has a good eye.”[break][break]
Almost like a magic trick itself, Meowstic pops out from behind his trainer’s backside. [break][break]
Before he can offer anymore words he stops, noticing a Caterpie happily snuggled on one of the twin display beds. Aw, sorry little fellow! He chuckles. “Well look at that, found one! I’m sure we’ll have our hands full gathering them all.”[break][break]
