Just when Toshiaki believes the world couldn’t seem anymore vast he is proven wrong. This gym is nothing like he’s seen before. He can just picture himself standing on a glass bridge where the ocean lies beneath. He can feel the vibration of the great blue waves sloshing around, yet Toshiaki feels no sensation of fear, only great anticipation for what’s to come. A burning passion just waiting to be awakened. He came to this region to be a great trainer. The first step to that is collecting gym badges.[break][break]
He carries the Pokeball in his hand, fingers curled around it as his grip tightens. You can do this.. You can win if you just try hard enough![break][break]
Toshiaki pauses and inhales a big, deep breath. His eyes shut, then reopen, shimmers of bold, stunning gold fixated on doors where the real challenge lies.[break][break]
He grins, too enthused to contain his excitement any longer.[break][break]
“BRING IT ON AND DON’T HOLD BACK! CAUSE I’M HERE TO CHALLENGE YOUR GYM!”[break][break]

Loud. She liked that, she was able to basically heard him from the other side of the concert hall as he waited in the lobby. Typically her front desk staff would handle his sign in fee but Melody sent her gardevoir to teleport him right to the concert hall, she didn't want to waste any time. [break][break]

Toshi would suddenly find himself in a dark room that was massive before a sudden single spotlight illumnated part of the stage as Melody walked on over with a guitar in hand. "Hey! Toshiaki right? You're loud as shit! Heard you from all the way over here!" she said nonchalantly. [break][break]

Melody didn't even wait for him to answer before she slid her fingers down on the guitar and blasted the arena with sound from massive speakers on each side of her as pyrotechnics lit up the area and the rest of the arena was lit up by the stage lights. She sent out her two pokemon meant to fit this genre, Noivern and Obstagoon. "You ready? Mega evolutions and z-moves are allowed if you have any. You get first move!" she said as she continued to play her guitar and rock music and lights came on above melody spelling out 'YOU FACE GYM LEADER MELODY MIRO.'

In the blink of an eye he’s teleported somewhere else, much to his confusion. Pitch black, nothing to be seen. Though once those bright lights flicker on, and he lies his eyes on the new scenery, it all begins to make sense. A single spot on the stage, in the center, the gym leader herself.[break][break]
He grins at her words, more proud than offended at the statement. “Damn straight! Proves I’m serious, doesn't it?”[break][break]
Obstagoon and Noivern, huh? He has somewhat of an advantage then.[break][break]
As he reaches for his pokeballs that contain the smaller aces on his team, every inch of his fingers tingle with static. Everything about this was electrifying. How the sweat stuck his skin. How his eardrums felt full, ready to burst.[break][break]
His grin grows wider as he chucks both the Pokeballs in a perfect throw.[break][break]
“Togetic! Whimsicott! Go, I choose you!”[break][break]
Once the glow fades, the two Fairy types trill happily, anticipating their next move.[break][break]
Toshiaki studies the layout well. When it was something he liked, his intuition and judgement was pretty stellar.[break][break]
Full of energy, Toshiaki ground pounds the floor, and points dead ahead, shouting with vigor.[break][break]
“ALRIGHT! Let’s show em’ what we’re made of, boys! Whimscott, use Tailwind! And Togetic, follow it up with Fairy Wind at em’ both!”[break][break]
On cue Whimscott begins to float in the air, twirling as he creates a fast gust of wind that propels forward. Togetic’s body seems to respond to the shift of the environment, it’s tiny wings twitching as it lets out a small, yet powerful yell.[break][break]
Full of gusto, Togetic releases a wave of Fairy Wind right at the two taller, intimidating Pokemon.[break][break]

The tail wind and fairy wind combo was a good idea, her Pokémon were known to be fast but tailwind would help close that gap and on top of that fairy wind was super effective against the both of them. On top of that the fairy wind would carry his attacks farther since they were both wind related, smart. Melody was impressed so far so she saw no reason to hold back. [break][break]

Both of her Pokémon grinned and bared the brunt of the attack and let out a sigh of relief once the assault stopped. Now it was their turn "Noivern get in there with an airslash on whimsicott! Obstagoon blind that togetic with a sand attack!" she ordered as Obstagoon punched the floor and pulverised it into sand and dashed forward with his pocket sand and flung it right at togetic's eyes. [break][break]

Noivern swooped forward and abruptly stopped as he flapped his wings and launched blades of winds at the fairy grass pokemon.

The battle goes at a fast pace. Sounds of howling winds clashing against one another, piercing loud strums of the electric guitar, Pokemon crying out as they gave it their all. His blood pumps in his veins, and Toshiaki grits down his teeth with an eager grin. So this is what real Pokemon battling is like.. [break][break]
Toshiaki’s strong demeanor may flinch when Togetic takes a direct hit like that, in the poor eyes no less, but he doesn’t falter. He needed faith in his Pokemon even when they looked to be in pain. He grips his fists together, golden gaze fixated on the aerial scene before him. They're losing the rhythym! [break][break]
No mega moves.. No Z-moves, did.. Did he come unprepared?[break][break]
Whimscott flails backward and yelps as he takes a direct hit from the air slash. Ouch. However, funnily enough, that gives Toshiaki an idea! Because the tailwind is still roaring strong. It hasn’t petered out yet![break][break]
“Whimscott, use that wind current to your advantage, ride it! Togetic! Just keep calm.. and use Follow Me on Obstagoon!”[break][break]
Togetic, although still temporarily blinded by the pocket sand, mewls loudly in response to it’s trainer. Togetic uses the temporary increased speed to its advantage, landing a quick follow me on Obstagoon. All eyes on him![break][break]
Whimscott twists and turns it’s little body to ride the wind current, flying around sporadically like dandelion seeds dancing in the sky. After all, this Pokemon was known for soaring in the spring and summer skies of the Unova region.[break][break]
“Alright, time for your revenge.” Toshiaki grins, flashing two “rock on!” signs with his hands as he gives Whismcott it’s next move.[break][break]
“The sky’s your playing field. Now, knock off that Noiverin’s groove with a Hurricane!”
Mischief brews as the little grass fairy giggles and rides the current, gusts of wind eerily center around it’s body in response to such childish titters. It brews and brews, till it unleashes Hurricane full force at the flying bat Pokemon. Time to change the tide![break][break]

Noivern and Obstagoon fall victim to the follow me as Melody had already given out her orders "Bite and Taunt!" she says as they both followed up on togetic, the bite was not very effect to the fairy type Togetic but it was damage nonetheless. Obstagoon also sat there and shouted rather rude profanities that would make a nun blush in church. [break][break]

yet thanks to togetic's follow me sacrifice Whimsicott was free to attack, getting a free hurricane on Noivern as it was launched into the air thanks to the sudden harsh changes in the winds and it was going to take some time for him to right himself before he could fly like normal. Melody took note of this and grinned, he had some talent to him.

The ebb and flow of the battle kept constantly shifting, like the actual ocean’s tides. Most inexperienced trainers would be in a panic at this point, but not Toshiaki. The thrill of it all has him wishing for this battle to never end, exhilarated to his very core. The music also gets his blood pumping. [break][break]
Toshiaki grins, gripping his fists. “Alright! Now this is fun!”[break][break]
Togetic grimaces at the bite, but is by far more offended at the crude speech Obstagoon directs at them. How awful! Togetic squeals out, clearly angered at the Pokemon. Whimscott floats around in the rushing wind, awaiting it’s next direction. Many people wouldn’t think, but he’s a sharp thinker. Time to eliminate the biggest thread on the battlefield. [break][break]
“Alright! Whimscott, while Noivern’s off groove use Growth! And Togetic, hit that bratty bat with an Ancient Power!”[break][break]
On his trainer’s command rocks manifest out of thin air in an eerie purple glow, while Whimscott temporarily expands in size, their offensive stats increasing in power. For Pokemon with such sweet appearance they were really going for the kill here![break][break]

Rocks from Toshiaki Macallan's togetic began to fall suddenly from the air and slam into the flying type's body, forcing it to land and piss it right off. It shouts in protest at the togetic accusing it of playing dirty, forgetting that this was a battle entirely. Melody often saw this behavior from it but always encouraged it to express itself. However situations in which it expressed it's anger lead to one result. Every time. [break][break]

It constantly being knocked around, bruised and battered by these onslaughts of attacks began to piss it off and Melody anticipated this and gave out a command pre-empetively. "Obstagoon! Quickly, use obstruct!" she shouts as obstagoon panics as well being all to familiar with this as they were often 'dance' partners. Noivern took in a deep breath and flexed it's speaker ears as it unleashes a boom burst attack, aiming for everyone on the field. Yet obstagoon keeping itself safe as a barrier was formed between it and it's ally.

He had the upper hand for a little while, but it sure didn’t feel like it. Tailwind has long teetered out, leaving the dynamic duo of fairies at half their speed. Now, Noivern is good and pissed off. Obstruct is in effect and a loud BOOM BURST sounds throughout the stadium, causing both Pokemon to cry out and flail backward. Togetic clings to Whimsicott for dear life as they’re flung toward their trainer. Toshiaki braced himself prior, but even he felt the immense force from the enraged Noivern. [break][break]
Thankfully, due to its extra oomph from growth Whimsicott lands on its large cotton back ~~*squeaky toy noise*~~ while Togetic groans, his poor head spinning. His team was definitely hurting after that one.[break][break]
Shit, shit, shit![break][break]
Toshiaki grits his teeth, frantically replaying the battle so far in his mind. Think, think of an opening! What were Togetic’s moves so far?[break][break]
Follow me, Fairy wind, and then, Ancient power.[break][break]
Blinking, Toshiaki grins. He’s calm again. [break][break]
They’re both bunched together, same as Togetic and Whimsicott. But there’s just enough distance to - yes![break][break]
“Whimscott! Move behind Togetic and use Tailwind!” Toshiaki yells, punching the center of his chest with a determined stare. “And Togetic! Ride that Tailwind, and use Last Resort!”[break][break]
Both fairies agree. Fierce wind enters the arena once more, while Togetic, with a taste for vengeance, makes a B-Line for both the Pokemon at once, specifically aiming for the crafty Obstagoon who used up it's Obstruct to shield itself from his ally’s attack. [break][break]

Was that the sound of a toy squeaking? That must be melody's imagination. "There's no point! You wont move faster than my noiver!-" she says as she quickly realizes that Noivern was not the target for their combo attack. "Shit!" she says as she tries to order obstagoon to move out of the way but it was too late. [break][break]

They were too fast an Obstagoon didn't have a defensive option and Noivern wasn't going to be able to stop them with air slash or dragon pulse thanks to the type match ups. Togetic's last resort move is a POWERFUL one as they Obstagoon tried to take the attack head on, managing to hold on for a little bit before the combined effort of both of the fairies was too much and he fell backwards getting consumed by the last resort.[break][break]

He rolls backwards and stays on the ground for a few moments before pulling himself back up. It was evident though that he was VERY WEAK from the massive attack togetic just launched. "Noivern! buy him time to recover! Air slash!" she shouts as noivern's wings flap and he sends slashes of air towards the duo.

It’s so close yet out of reach, the sweet taste of victory. Finally Toshiaki knew the taste of what battling was like; no longer that sheltered little kid sneaking around to watch grand bouts on the television. He’s in the center of the action now! And dare he say the spotlight is just too sweet to be taken out of. [break][break]
Sweat drips down his face as his fanged grin outstretches. His body trembles with anticipation as the Obstagoon knocks down, Noivern acting fast to buy his partner some time. Well sorry buddy, he’s just not that nice. [break][break]
“PUSH THROUGH WITH FAIRY WIND! IKUZO!” Toshiaki shouts above the fiercely loud music and his little fairies abide by his command, happy to do so. A large gust of sparkling wind forms and is immediately combated against the onslaught of air slashes. Whimsicott is already a little stronger from that GROWTH earlier but who’s to say who will come out on top![break][break]

The growth proves it's worth in dividends as the combined fairy wind not ONLY fends off the air slash attacks but also still manages to reach obstagoon. The obstagoon's eyes widened as it realized that it couldn't really defend against the attack and tried to block it as best it could to no avail. [break][break]

He was launched backwards and right into the stage and finally. Fainting. [break][break]

Melody let out a small sigh as she immediately recalled her obstagoon, handing the pokeball off to her gardevoir who would teleport him to the medical bay for her and have him checked out. "Well damn, your two tiny little guys pack on hell of a punch." she says complimenting Toshi. [break][break]

"But that only mean's I know you can handle more." she grins as she grabs her next pokeball. She sent out her volcarona, immediately firing out a flame dance enhanced by the pyrotechnics on the stage aimed right at the very flammable ball of cotton and noivern fed those flames with it's airslash attack.

As a famous caveman once said: fire bad. Toshiaki’s confidence quickly fades as he shamelessly gawks at the fire type that comes onto the field. Shit! He forgot they each had four Pokemon on standby! Togetic also seems to panic as his partner is lambasted with a fire and wind combo attack. Though usually a defensive wall, the little cotton ball goes flying and lands back onto the stage, defeated.[break][break]
Toshiaki sighs as he recalls his fainted Pokemon, then smiles fondly down at the pokeball. “Good job out there, take a nice long rest.” Pocketing it, he throws out the next Pokeball with newfound vigor. Cinderace emerges, bouncing in place, roaring and ready to go as he grins back at Togetic. [break][break]
“Alright! Togetic! Use Fairy wind at Noivern! Cinderace, give me your best Pyro ball at Volcarona!”[break][break]
Both Pokemon chime in unison. It seems their teamwork wasn’t shaken up yet! Togetic stirs up another large round of Fairy Wind, while a flaming ball is hurled directly at the Volcarona. Coming in hot![break][break]

Melody strapped in, this was gonna be one hell of a performance. This kid was talented. [break][break]

Time skip [break][break]

Only Melody's volcarona remained against toshi's Cinderace. Their speed was evenly matched and the only advantage Volcarona had was the fact it could fly, but Cinderace was one hell of an accurate shot where Volcarona couldn't really aim as well as it. Several pyro balls fly towards volcarona as it tried to dodge but was still clipped. That was it. It plummeted towards the concrete floor of Melody's gym and the music paused. [break][break]

She counted in her head and upon her reaching the count of 3 it was over. Melody raised her hand and the lights had turned on, and @toshi's name was displayed in a bunch of dazzling lights above where Melody's name was before with the words "WINNER" lit up underneath. She slow clapped for him "You did amazing dude! Wow!" she said as she stopped to recall her fire bug. [break][break]

She walked over to Toshiaki and and reached into her back pocket and pulled out a rhythmn badge "Toshiaki, I have tested you and upon seeing you and your pokemon's resolve and bonds have decided that on my authority as Sootopolis's gym leader you have earned the rhythmn badge. Do you accept?" she asked as she held the badge out for him to take.
