While she was no stranger to hard work with an emphasis on details Georgette was beginning to think this was careening wildly into excessive. Her eyes wide as she listened to the Budew's owner and the mile-a-minute instructions being rapidly fired her way, the woman was left mute in shock when she found herself alone with a prize-winning pokemon and a binder's worth of instructions on how to care for it.

"Hi," Georgette squeaked softly at the preening pokemon; one look at the unknown woman sent the Budew into a sobbing meltdown as it realised it was now without its owner. Fumbling the binder in her hands, a bewildered, "Oh god," spilled from Georgette's lips as she frantically flipped through its pages to try and figure out how to calm it.

Trying everything from singing, to watering it, to moving it to the sunlight, Georgette eventually gives up and pulls out her phone, texting desperately to the one person she was certain could help her.

[attr="class","tctext"] Of all the frantic phone summons to receive, Elisabeth hadn't anticipated this missive to be from the level-headed Georgette Bluebottle. In all caps, no less. With some amusement, Elisabeth signed off with a brief, "Of course. Prim and I will be there momentarily."[break][break]
The Roselia accompanied the blonde to the beautiful mansion that was, ostensibly, the home of the prize-winning Budew and its owner. New money, Elisabeth guessed, assessing the architecture and lavish decor with the critical eye of one who had no need to flaunt her own wealth. Contests must pay well, she mused.[break][break]
A ring of the doorbell and Elisabeth was swept away to the Budew's nursery by a very tired-looking butler, whose abrupt departure suggseted he was afraid to get anywhere near the screaming Budew and the disheveled babysitter tending to it. [break][break]
The way Georgette looked at Elisabeth with utmost desperation was mildly funny, given the woman's usually unflappable demeanor. Elisabeth did her best to suppress her smile; now wasn't the time to tease her distraught friend.[break][break]
"My, my," Elisabeth murmured, gently taking the wailing Budew into her arms. "Fussy little darling, aren't you? Almost as bad as Prim was at that age. Don't take it personally, Georgette. They can be rather particular little seedlings."[break][break]
A rather indignant Primrose crossed her arms at this, her bouquets shedding petals with aggressive disagreement; this, humorously enough, seemed to only prove Elisabeth's point.[break][break]
"Do you have a warm blanket?" Elisabeth continued pleasantly, as if the tiny rosebud in her arms wasn't crying at such an intense decibel it put a Golbat's SCREECH to shame. "Budew can get terribly chilly this time of year. We can swaddle the poor dear to help."

The chime of Georgette's phone drew her attention up from scanning her care-book for the Budew, relief instantly washing over her when it seems Elisabeth will make an appearance to help her. Any relief, however, is fleeting when the pokemon in her care renews its screaming as if being stabbed by pruning shears. While Georgette was well-versed in caring for a good many type of pokemon, grass-types had never exactly been her specialty after growing up in such an icy corner of the world.

Was the Budew seriously hurt to be wailing like this? The binder mentioned root-rot as a serious condition but the pokemon in question wasn't planted. It also mentioned too much sunlight could burn its leaves, but the Budew was presently in a shadowed corner and didn't have any tell-tale signs of wilted leaves.

When Elisabeth finally reached the mansion, Georgette all but flung open the doors to allow the woman to enter. "Thank you for coming," she greets, hastily ushering Elisabeth to the room with the tantruming Budew. Georgette blinks once at the request, a bewildered little "What?" spilling from her lips.

"A blanket," she eventually repeats before attempting to clarify with a hesitant, "it is not sick?" Nonetheless, despite her misgivings as to the remedy for the screeching, Georgette consults the binder as to where the blankets are and retrieves one to hand to Elisabeth with a look of despairing hope.

[attr="class","tctext"] The skepticism in Georgette's voice was heeded and summarily dismissed as Elisabeth swaddled the incorrigible Budew. The increased warmth had a slight calming effect on the Pokemon, who snuggled in the cotton before scowling and whining anew. "They are sensitive little dears," Elisabeth continued. "Too much sun and they become parched, too much water and they bloat." [break][break]

Pressing a finger to her lips, Elisabeth considered the situation and then turned to her Roselia. "Prim," she said, "could you perhaps use some AROMATHERAPY? It might soothe the little seedling."[break][break]

Obediently, the flowery Pokemon began to emit a pleasant and calming scent, wafting over the Budew with its healing energy. This had a far more visible result, with the Budew beginning to coo softly with half-lidded eyes. Instead of loud, cantankerous screams, whimpers of soft whining came forth from the squirming, bundled-up Pokemon.[break][break]

"Hm," Elisabeth said, turning to Georgette Bluebottle. "What did the trainer say for general care? Any specific foods, or bedtime routines?"[break][break]

Then her gaze fell upon the enormous binder. "Oh dear. I see you've gotten ample instructions... a terrifying amount, it would seem."

Georgette's lips purse at the suggestion Budew are 'sensitive' - certainly not the descriptor she would have chosen. With a little hum of thoughtfulness she keenly watches Elisabeth swaddle the plant pokemon, Georgette tries not to laugh at the question which follows.

"So it would seem," the woman agrees, her mouth pulling into a warm smile as she watches the Budew settle in Elisabeth's arms, the swaddling having done the trick.

Certain the pokemon is now in much better hands than her own, Georgette cracks open the binder once more to find the schedule laid out within it. With a little snort at reading "brush tepid water over leaves until damp but not wet", she immediately closes it again with a litter utterance of, "I think not."

Instead, Georgette offers a sincere, "You will have to let me thank you later, no? A lunch or dinner." A soft fuss from the Budew briefly draws Georgette's attention, though the pokemon almost immediately settles back down and begins to drift off to sleep. "There is a wonderful cafe in Mauville. They make little Kalosian pastries that remind me of home."

This time she handed the little Pokemon off to her Roselia, who cradled her gently to and fro as Elisabeth went to draw the curtains. A spotlight of sunshine fell into place on the Roselia and Budew both, warming them.[break][break]

"A night out with you sounds lovely, Georgette," Elisabeth said sincerely. "It's busy season right now with the flower shop, but when things quiet down, I'd love nothing more than to share a dessert with you and talk about babysitting regimens for Grass Pokemon." Her eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief.[break][break]

As the Budew's whimpering quieted down, and an opening for proper conversation presented itself, Elisabeth leaned back in the plush velvet chair to relax. "Prim was my first Pokemon in many ways that was truly mine," she said. "I received her as a little Budew, and she was just as fussy as this one. It was a bit like raising a child, really." The servants had given her excessive distance during those years, and mercifully, that distance had included her husband at the time.[break][break]

A fleeting smile creased her lips. "I suppose Prim was a little project meant to distract me, but she's blossomed into one of my best friends."

A decidedly grateful look overcomes Georgette when the Budew is passed off to the Roselia instead of herself - for all of her experience with pokemon, those on the farm were unquestionably more hardy than the little Budew could have ever imagined. Such fussing was only reserved for newborns who were struggling, and even only then for those likely to survive long-term. Such coddling had little place in a working pokemon's life unless it was specifically slated for... Well. Some things left unspoken were a kindness.

Georgette cocks her head at the news it is a busy season for Elisabeth, her eyes a touch wide as she assures Elisabeth with a laugh, "Whenever you are free! There is no hurry, no?"

Her gaze casting sidelong when the Budew finally settles, Georgette's attention settles once more on Elisabeth as the woman speaks. A soft, warm smile touches Georgette's lips as she listens to her companion, the woman taking the seat opposite of Elisabeth to face her.

"Prim is very well behaved," Georgette praises - perhaps a subtle jab at the otherwise less than compliant Budew in their care. Her expression pensive as she observes Elisabeth, Georgette reaches out to apply a light pressure to the woman's knee; there is no comment pressing the vague, almost-certainly loaded admission as to the Roselia being her personal project meant to distract her.

She says instead, "You have done well." The statement is spoken quietly, a certain emphatic presence evident in her timbre at the assertion. Releasing Elisabeth's knee, she tactfully pushes the direction of the conversation back to Elisabeth's work with a curious, "But the flower shop, no? Do you need help?"

[attr="class","tctext"] Featherlight as Georgette's touch was upon her knee, Elisabeth reacted as if struck, her entire body stiffening in its posture as she flinched at the unexpected motion. Her throat constricted, eyes widening, as her nails pressed into her thighs to calm herself with pain--something more familiar and dulling in its sensation.[break][break]

The last one to touch her had not been so kind, nor so gentle in his nature, as this compassionate woman sitting across from her.[break][break]

"...I..." What had they been speaking about again? Prim. That was right. Elisabeth attempted to refocus herself, composure returning as she remembered to breathe. "Oh, yes. Prim is a lovely creature. I am... I am proud of her, and all that she has blossomed to be."[break][break]

The words came out thoughtlessly, distractedly. How could something so small and insignificant as the touch of a hand on her thigh hold such power over her? Bortiforte was dead. She had personally seen to that. No one would hurt her again.[break][break]

So why? Why was she still like this? Why wouldn't the nightmare... end?[break][break]

"I am sorry. I do not think I am feeling very well," Elisabeth said as she pressed a hand to her forehead, her voice soft with dizziness. "It has been a busy time in the flower shop, you are right. Perhaps I have overworked myself."[break][break]

Georgette stills as she removes her hand from Elisabeth's knee, her hand hovering mid-air as her head subtly cants to the side at the decidedly unexpected reaction. Moving slowly, as if cornered by an irate Tauros, she carefully places her hands within her lap, her fingers lacing together and eyes soft as thoughts whirl within her mind.

With a little nod, she agrees quietly, "Yes, Elisabeth, you look tired. You should rest, no? I should have realised the season." Her lips pulling into a comforting smile, Georgette assures, "But you have been a great help to me here, even with your busy schedule. Why do you not go ahead and leave? The Budew's owner should be back within the hour and it seems fit to rest until then."

"I am grateful for your kindness, Elisabeth. Thank you for coming out."

Her gaze slipping pointedly towards the doorway, the ivory-haired woman promises, "I can take it from here. When you are free and feeling better let me know? We can have that coffee together."

Once more that soft smile overtakes Georgette's expression, a certain sadness lingering in her gaze that she does not voice to her companion - an understanding left unspoken.

Ah, what a dear friend Georgette was. Elisabeth looked to her, grateful for this thinly-veiled comfort, and gestured for Primrose to hand the squirming Budew back to the ivory-haired trainer. This time, the fussy seedling was the model of perfect behaviour, dozing off into a midday snooze.[break][break]

"I daresay you've been marvelous even without me, Georgette. The owner will undoubtedly be pleased with your work. I do think I will take your kind offer to retire, thank you."[break][break]

Walking out of the owner's enormous mansion was, in its own way, strange. [break][break]

Elisabeth had not missed winding, labyrinthine stairs, or the silent scuffle of servants scattering to and fro in hallways. A tall mirror stood at the landing of the stairwell, revealing both the Roselia and her tall and elegant trainer as she descended the steps; her cheeks had turned pale, her eyes tired as if driven beyond the point of exhaustion, her hands trembling faintly on the railing as her hair tumbled loosely down her back.[break][break]

The moment Elisabeth stepped outside, the world made sense again. Like a wilting flower aching for sunshine, she exhaled a long-held breath as she tilted her chin upwards, eyes shut as she attempted to compose herself.[break][break]
