Now, she's more than certain that they'll ignore her request, given how fast-paced this event is meant to be. But if it reduces her chances of having to see him again, she'll gladly take it.

An Eevee quietly squirms in her arms, yipping softly as he fervently pats his paws against the table. Perhaps, it's due to how rarely she lets him tag along on assignments or perhaps, it's excitement bubbling from the desire to make a new friend.

"Patience, Cielo." She murmurs, gently brushing her lips against his fur for a light kiss. "We'll see them soon."

His BOLTUND runs towards the table when he's 90% sure that's the one his trainer is headed towards. His tongue lolls out of REX's mouth as excited eyes set themselves upon the woman sitting there (Zahra Belsky ) and her Eevee. Perhaps a little too eagerly, the canine stands on two feet and places its front paws on the edge of the tea-table, almost as if presenting itself as the date.

Before too long, however, a well-built blonde jogs onto the scene, raising a hand in greeting. "H-Hey! Sorry if Rex spooked you two. He's friendly, I promise."

Taking a moment to usher the Boltund down from the table, he returns his attention to the pink-haired cutie sitting there before extending a hand. "M-My name's Atlas. I'm a detective living in Slateport."

Should she take his hand, he'd gently shake it before grinning and taking his own seat. "Sorry if I seem a bit awkward. This is my first time doing this sort of thing..." He abashedly explains. Rex yips in the background.

How quick she is to swoon over the sight of the Boltund, her fingers gently scratching behind the ears as she coos at him. He's adorable and oh, does she let him know it with the way she asks 'who's the gwood bwoi?', only to receive an indignant yip from her own Eevee.

"I wouldn't have minded if he was my date~" She laughs, ocean eyes sweeping their gaze over the arriving blonde as she takes his hand. "Zahra, and Cielo." She gestures to the little Eevee in her arms before placing him to the ground, snorting when she sees him gently butting heads with the Boltund. "I'm a ranger in Lilycove, but I run plenty of odd jobs in my time off."

To his comment of awkwardness, Zahra smiles, pouring them cups of tea before sliding one over.

"Don't worry, I'm sure quite a lot of us feel the same." A pretty lie that borders on the line of being true. The addition of a sugar cube into her own cup sees it float, soaking and quietly crumbling away. "I rarely see detectives nowadays... Do you take on a lot of cases? Any kinds that you specialise in or are most interested by?"

Zahra is as welcoming and kind as Atlas would have hoped. And, though he holds his cup of tea awkwardly still, any trace of it between them seems to simply melt away as their conversation continues. "A ranger, huh? That's really cool..."

Unsure whether he should hold out a pinky or not as he takes his first sip, the blonde does so anyway before tilting the teacup into his mouth. Unlike Zahra, he didn't add anything to it. And he gulped it down much as one would a tequila shot, scalding his throat slightly as he hacks.

Atlas feigns composure, however, and there's a clink as he places his teacup back onto its saucer. "M-Mmm... 'exsqueezit'." He says with a hum and a nod, doing his best to ignore the bitter aftertaste.

Thankfully, his date provides the perfect opportunity to move on! "Uh, well... I kind of just started, see! So I can't really be picky about the cases I come across or the ones I'm offered." He chuckles. "I'm the one responsible for putting Timothy the Twink behind bars, though! Have you heard about that one? ... No? Well, it was a big deal in the lower district!" He proudly remarks.

"How about you? You must have seen all sorts of interesting things as a ranger."

Meanwhile, there's a rustle under the table as his Boltund and her Eevee play.

Perhaps her warning comes a little too late, her nose wrinkling slightly as she takes a a soft breath in through her teeth. Down the hatch and the effect is instantaneous, the man coughing but trying his best to recover even with his pinky stuck out. To which, she can't help but laugh, grasping the handle of the teacup with four fingers but barely resting it upon her pinky.

"I'd usually add sugar or honey to overwhelm the bitterness... I'm partial to tangy or sweet things myself." A small sip allows her to savour the taste of this unnamed blend, her mind working through the possibilities as she places the cup down and adds another sugar cube.

"You seem to be working hard," She hums, "He sounds like a real menace... you weren't hurt, were you?"
[break][break]
Personally, she doesn't know too much about the case, but she supposes that she can feel a little pride for this excitable man-child she's just met.

"Not really... I do the occasional security duty and volunteering at public events, or I deal with pokemon-related incidents. Most exciting I've encountered is probably having to stake out and hunt down some poachers on sanctuary grounds."

Atlas feels a little dumb for not realizing the tea wouldn't be presweetened. Sugar or honey definitely would have made for a more pleasant experience. He watches with a hint of fascination as Zahra enjoys her own tea properly, absorbing as much as he can for the next round.

His study goes interrupted, however, when she asks if he was hurt. "Timothy the Twink? Hurt me?" He chuckles, shaking his head. "No way! But he was really slippery. Like, literally, I mean. I think he bathed in Vaseline or something before every robbery."

But, finding talk of that half-naked man distasteful, the young man is happy to focus on her instead. "You hunted down poachers? Holy Miltank..." He expresses, eyes widening slightly with awe. "You must be a pretty good trainer then, huh? These trainers out here are going to be swooning for your attention." He laughs.

Truth be told, he was swooning a bit himself. Internally, though. He had to play it cool, after all.

"That's an overstatement. I just happen to have very reliable and capable partners." She's quick to correct, "And well, I don't really mix with strangers that often... so I wouldn't know much about their impressions."

Alas, time goes by much faster than you'd expect when you're sincerely enjoying the company of another. Soon, they'll be swept away to different tables and matched with other peculiar souls wandering this event. But before that happens...

Pulling a pen and a small floral post-it from her pocket, Zahra scribbles something down, folds it, then slides it over with a genuine smile.

In the little amount of time they've spent together, Atlas has found himself enjoying Zahra's calm yet engaging presence. Clearly, she wasn't the same social butterfly that he was, but that only made him feel even more honored to have her attention. So much so that he found himself hoping he could share it again.

So, needless to say, the blonde was elated when she pulled out a cute stack of post-it notes and a pen from her pocket. He'd already been working up the nerve to ask for her number, but he'd been so caught up in their conversation that he'd lost track of time!

"I'll make sure to pick the best." He grins, taking her number and tucking it safely into his jacket pocket, as carefully and graciously as if she'd just give him the colonel's secret recipe for fried chicken.

"See you around, Zahra."
