Well, this wasn’t a majestic grand dragon. It was a cute little bear. A Stufful, to be exact. She had seen some of its evolutions before. They were somewhat popular in merchandising and promotions, after all. But they could also be problematic unless handled with care.

After all, they were Bewears. Pretty tough mons, despite how cute they looked. She could do with one. Despite starting out with a Lucario, she didn’t really have that many fighting types. And if she didn’t use it, well, it was still rather puffy. Certainly it would make for a grand pet instead of a great fighter.
Ah, well, she shrugged and threw a Pokeball at it anyway, intending to catch it. She had four of the things, after all. Worst case she’d waste one and still had three. Not like she would get a ton of throws at any one Pokemon, after all, running after it like a maniac tossing ball after ball in a frenzy. That was stuff of the olden times, not modern age.

Ooookay. Luvdisc. Not her style at all. The Stufful was cute and stuff, sure, but mostly because it was cuddly. That thing though was just swimming through the pond, watching her just as she was watching it. And otherwise it was doing, well, not much at all. She wasn’t even sure whether or not it was doing anything at all. That was not exactly endearing herself to a Pokemon that she had no idea how to use.

Megan sighed, giving the Pokemon a somewhat apologetic nod. She was doing that again. And it wasn’t all that good that she did. That Pokemon was perfectly fine, really. She just sometimes got quite…enthusiastic about not being enthusiastic about some of them for reasons she sometimes did not even understand herself. This one wasn’t for her, but she threw it a berry regardless before moving on, just to make sure that she didn’t appear too rude or something. Kind of weird to worry about how a Pokemon might perceive her to be quite honest, but especially because no one else was there to see she didn’t care too much. This was fine.

Ohhh, it was the Pokecenter Pokemon, wasn’t it? Only like, the kid version. But she did see a group of Happiny playing around in a clearing, so she figured those were them. Frankly, she had not looked much into the species, but she did know that they were really useful. In fact, they supposedly could heal people, too. So, if she could get one, train it and evolve it, she could forego seeing the doctor, right? After all, quite a few times she’d just gotten Healing Wished instead of getting treatment anyway. That was…an opportunity too grand to pass up.

So, she quickly plucked one of her Safari balls, aimed carefully and then flung it at the biggest Happiny she could find, causing the others to scatter and flee. But that was fine. She only needed one of those. And she had only one shot, one opportunity, anyway. So best make it count like this, decisively!

Why was it running away? That just wasn’t fair. But Megan was not going to let it get away. Yes, it was trying, but while this one might be able to run from a trainer battle, it was not going to be able to run from a trainer armed with a Pokeball. By the laws of…nature, or something, she should be able to at least throw a single ball. Otherwise, that just wasn’t fair in the slightest!

Thus, she skidded down a grassy ledge, still in pursuit. The Eevee was still running and even though it had much shorter legs, it was also lighter, meaning that it could at least keep away from her, even though so far it had not been able to increase its lead. And she definitely would not allow that to happen, either.

Fortunately, there was Luvdisc to the rescue! The little one. The one she decided not to capture earlier. Or maybe it was another one. She didn’t know. But one of those suddenly splashed out of the small creek they were running adjacent to, startling the Eevee. Which, in turn, briefly stopped, not knowing where to go. But that was enough time for her to get sufficiently close and throw the ball. “Hah!” she exclaimed, even as it went down and started to wobble, hoping to succeed with this.

A Swirlix, huh? After the excitement of the Eevee hunt, seeing this one left her in a state of ‘eh’, to be honest. It was just too….sweet? Like, she looked at it and got caries from it. Sure, some might think that cute, but she really did not think she could cuddle that or something. As such, she feigned a salute of sorts to the little ‘mon watching her curiously, then she walked on, looking around to see what else she might get for her last ball.

After all, when there was only one of them, they suddenly seemed a whole lot more precious. Plus, the time for the safari was slowly running out, as a quick glance towards her wrist revealed. Still, that Swirlix was just too….sugary. Yes, she moved on, hoping to find something else.

This was much better. In terms of edibility, this Pokemon looked like a much healthier meal. Instead of an achingly sweet puff of sugar, this was clearly a healthier plant type.

Not that she planned on eating either of them, of course. Emergency rations were a thing, of course. But unlike the Swirlix, she felt a lot better with this one around. Hence, she decided to use her last ball on it. By now, she had almost reached the end of both the path and her time here, so she figured that this was her last encounter. She might as well catch it, she thought. It probably would evolve into a bigger and stronger plant, plant after all. And she didn’t have a lot of grass types so far. This was a good thing, most likely, so she took good aim and released the ball from her hand, already content with her haul this time, hoping to add one more Pokemon regardless.
