SIT DOWN BY SET OF SUN

Samnang cracked her neck and rolled her shoulders back as she stepped into the long grass, Alina hovering overhead. Across the fields of curated flowers and trimmed trees, the sun sank below the horizon, flooding the grasslands red with blood. Taking a deep breath, Samnang stood for a moment in the evening’s peace, allowing it to settle around her. In her hand, she held one of the Safari Balls allotted by the Warden.

Brief meditation done, she blinked her eyes open, and stepped into the crimson light.

The Stufful wandered happlessly into her path, pink fur a shock against the new spring greenery. Despite its cuteness, Samnang knew to stay well back of it; it had a nasty reputation for attacking unlucky souls charmed by its innocent appearance.

With a nod of her head, Alina faded out of view, then reappeared in front of the Stufful, empty eyes flashing a rainbow of colors as she locked gazes with the Stuffull. A moment of staring into the fleeting confuse ray and the Stufful began to stumble and spin on the spot, verbalizing its name in a sleepy voice.

Sam’s Pokeball connected with precision, bringing the Flailing Pokemon safely inside.

The newly obtained Stufful was quickly arranged amongst the other spheres hanging at her belt. Alina returned obediently to her side, and they headed once again into the reddening light.

A nearby lake is still in the falling evening, save for the occasional ripple caused by a surfacing fish. In the shadow of the sinking sun, the Luvdisc within are a deeper hue than their natural pink; it reminds Samnang of platelets in a bloodstream, hurriedly going on their way to the deeper parts of the body.

She elected to let them continue on their way, choosing, instead, to focus on the more terrestrial of targets the Safari Zone had to offer.

Samnang almost tripped over the Happiny toddling across their path. The little Playhouse Pokemon was puttering along at a quick pace, as though on its way to somewhere in a hurry. It didn’t seem to notice Samnang-- or if it did, it paid her no mind. Probably a result of being passed up by countless trainers as they traipsed through the Safari Zone looking for something specific.

Samnang was not so particular. She bopped the busy pink Pokemon with a Safari Ball and the Happiny froze on the spot with a confused coo before being whirled into the sphere in the form of light energy.

The Eevee was more of a challenge than the first two, as it saw Samnang coming. With a yelp of surprise, it turned on its furry heels and sprinted away, white-tipped fox tail a flashing beacon in the undergrowth. What it did not account for, however, was the speed at which Duskull could transverse the shadow realm; the little Evolution Pokemon almost ran face-first into Alina’s skull facade.

The wild Eevee stumbled back, blinking blearily into Alina’s confuse ray, and Samnang collected it with her final Safari Ball.
