Something irritating buzzed over their face. CJ didn’t think anything of it, until it happened again, then again, this time actually coming into contact with their skin. CJ jumped up with a yelp and did a slap-dance, terrified it was a bee or a wasp-- but it was only a little Cutiefly, who seemed offended by the retaliating attack for its simple curiosity. The fly turned it’s chin-- er, whole body?-- away with a hmph and buzzed on down the beach to annoy someone else.

Biell and Yazmin were digging a trench to fortify their newly built sandcastle when the little Pichu’s paw bounced off of something hard and blue. Curious, she tugged on Biell’s leafy skirt, drawing his attention to the object. They nodded at each other and, together, excavated a space around the strange rock.

The Porygon was a bubblegum pink shock against the dark sand and it shook its head a bit sleepily and blinked into the sunlight. If this were an anime, question marks would have appeared over CJ’s pokemon’s head as they took in Porygon. With questioning looks, they inquired as to how the Virtual Pokemon came to be buried in the sand.

Oddly enough, a stream of pictures began to pop out of the Porygon’s noggin-- the flashing, projector-fuzzy images caught CJ’s attention, and they came over to investigate. “What the heck?” they summed up the mood for the day, hands on hips, head tiled as the Porygon continued to converse in… “Emojis? You’re using emojis to talk?”

The Virtual Pokemon nodded its cotton candy head and repeated the sequence of images:



CJ blinked, and then went “Oooh! A shipwreck?” The Porygon nodded, floating up and down slightly. “So you’re out here all on your own?”



“That sucks, bud. Hey, you wanna tag along with us?” At the suggestion, Yazmin-- who was utterly fascinated with the Porygon’s pictographic communication-- clapped her paws excitedly. “At least that way you won’t be lonely.”

Porygon floated up to eye-level with CJ and nodded its head; a green checkmark appeared above it. CJ grinned, and, producing a Pokeball from their fannypack, held it out for the Porygon to place one trapezoidal limb on. The Virutal Pokemon disappeared into the sphere in a rush of light, leaving behind a grinning face to fade into the sunlight.
