Culling the herd or at least the infected ones were a common practice back in the day. Making sure the weak didn't survive, or at least the infected. The downside is that this exists naturally in nature when a viscous disease attacks a species without much a care in the world. Shi's namesake preceded his reputation to make the hard choices to kill a few pokemon as needed. Rather...right now finding the infected was harder said than done. Some psychic pokemon were causing brain rot on the normal types that lived in the same area. While unintentional it was leaving FERAL pokemon attacking anything. "Liepard prepare to remove the diseased."

Raine didn’t so much believe in culling, but she did enjoy a nice, moonlight walk. Unfortunately, it seemed destined not to be, as at every turn she was being jumped on by some Pokemon or another; luckily, Titania was not one to be messed with, so they left quite the trail of fainted Pokemon in their wake.

Raine sat atop one of Titania’s large, walking roots, legs neatly crossed, one over the other. Curious, now, she was determined to get to the bottom of the cause for all the hubbub, and just so happened to spot Shi at that same time.

Titania’s massive form, ominous and groaning, emerged from the darkness of the woods bordering the mountainside.

“You, there!” Raine called from her Elder Tree throne. “Are you the cause for all this nonsense?” She had little patience for those out to harm others.

Shi's eyes glanced up at the giant tree, and well women who thought she was queen of forests. She seemed to deem him as the reason for the wrong doings of these pokemon. Perhaps she wasn't a person of science? Maybe she was too narrow minded to accept modern medicine. Who knew. Although Shi stepped to the side and around the pokemon and past her. "No. Human is unlikely. Could be a disease humans made. Yes yes...likely...but what purpose." the man glanced back up. "there had been reports of brain rot in normal pokemon. Psychic types have a problem causing it. Must keep away until I can remove the infection." of course he didn't say he'd kill them but still.

With a Glameow near by that was approaching an Espurr, that seemed a little bug eyed... maybe crazy. Who knew. "Liepard," he quickly dispatched his cat, to remove the threats of the psychic type. However the risk for the Glameow was still present. "take it down, best outcome. keep until safe. maybe keep for self...don't know...either way infection too dangerous to risk exposure." the pokeball was throw the moment it was taken down. "You should remain distant. research still needed for proper prognosis but population more important then the few that need removing. Perhaps the cause of the disease is pokemon that don't belong. maybe human pollution. should check. find and see. come or don't your decision. Trevenant should be good at finding things, tall, big, has roots, can tell pollution maybe?"

Raine’s face became a mask of concern as she listened to whatever the man was going on about? “Brain rot?” she parroted back at him, one foot bouncing in the air. The man had a strange way of talking that reminded Raine of a computer having a conversation with itself. “What on earth are you on about?” she pressed, watching what she assumed was the man’s Liepard dealing with a nearby Glameow.

When she figured his next target was the small, unassuming Espurr, Raine cried, “Oh, no, you don’t!” and pointed; Titania gave a deep, bassy rumble that traveled through the surface of the earth and leaped, landing over the baby Pokemon. Raine slipped down between her roots and picked up the harmless child-- who was indeed bug-eyed, but then, they all looked like that.

“I don’t know what you’re prattling about-- pollution, and brain rot, and what have you,” she said, holding the Espurr close, “but do you really need to go about causing such chaos?”

Just how far removed from society was this women? It wasn't like Shi was speaking rocket science and he thought it was pretty obvious. Psychic pokemon are killing other pokemon, by making them kill other people, by rotting their brains, like zombies but with powers and still living. How hard was it for the Ent women to understand. She didn't allowed him to just out the Espurr, which was disappointing. Though, there was no way to quickly test if the psychic pokemon was infected, instead he focused on ones visibly causing the problems. Espurr is just a pokemon that gives sketchy energy, and it was paranoid all the time so how was he suppose to determine it.

"It's science. Psychic powers effect the brain. Damage brain. Cause normal type pokemon to attack random as they die. Like Rabis. Don't get bite. could hurt humans. Psychic pokemon are sick. most likely from human intervention. Humans must therefore fix problem. Understand? You have tree. It's a ghost type, so probably won't die. Should help find the cause, save pokemon. Cull the heard of doomed pokemon. No cure." the computer like voice turned as a psychic type pokemon appeared again, Shi allowed his Liepard to nightslash the sleeping moon thing. Not that he did anything else with it, but he made sure the teddiursa was scared away from the act. "You may want it. you don't take. I'll remove it."

Raine shifted the little Espurr to her hip, where the Restraint Pokemon continued to just… stare off into space, unblinking. They were odd like that. “It’s not any science I’ve ever heard of,” she said-- which didn’t immediately mean it wasn’t true, of course. Her field of study was the cosmos, not psychology, but the concept of… Psychic-types causing a rabies-like brainrot in Normal-types.

“It just seems a little outlandish, is all.” She was really trying to get a grasp on Shi’s outlook on things but completely and utterly failed as she watched his Liepard deflate a wild Musharna like a balloon, scaring the bejeezus out of a little Teddiursa that had been following the Drowsing Pokemon. The Little Bear cried out in fear and Raine bent down to accept the terrified creature into a hug. I’m going to run out of arms, she thought, rising to her feet and now holding a scared baby Pokemon on each hip.

“Have you ever considered maybe some Pokemon are just more aggressive than others?” she asked, half-pleading the strange man to see reason. “Not to mention, things aren’t exactly normal in the world right now. It wouldn’t surprise me if these distortions were stressing the wild Pokemon out, just like they do to us. What’s your proof that it’s… brain rot?”

The dark eyes turned to the women as she held the normal type pokemon. Wether or not it had brain rot wasn't the concern here, rather the source was the concern. All Shi cared about was removing the threat that could cause catastrophic damages to the normal type populations. Really, ignorant people were so....frustrating. Shi would rather the women left alone to his business so he could leave the corpses to the scavengers. "science proves yes. mad cow disease, you must kill cow. risk infection among populous. use internet. statistics don't lie." it was true, the numbers were there, all until his eyes caught something...different.

The shiny spinda being chased by a violent heilolisk that was on a war path. Naturally Shi snapped his fingers and the liepard obeyed, happening to take out both with it's sharp claws. "prime example. lizard usually relaxed pokemon. unlikely alot of pokemon in area are violent," the man's tones like a father scorning his child. "Now...this..spinda however....I need to determine more on," the pokeball spun towards the bear. "trevenant dead tree, very helpful in fighting psychic infections. you should help. most likely there's one or two psychic types that must be removed from the population. help and pokemon will be okay,"

Dark eyes scanned the area, "Dark types also unlikely to be afflicted. psychic energies can damage cause the brain to fill with blood. brain rot, term for prefrontal lobe damage and/or swelling that is fatal,"

This time, Raine couldn’t fight the urge to roll her eyes. “Ah, yes, the internet. The last bastion of all accurate information.” Titania was leaning over her, trunk groaning, and Raine knew the tolerance was leeching out of her Trevenant as the man spoke. “The difference is, bovine encephalopathy is a real thing that actually exists, and not something that only exists in your head.”

No matter what she said, though, the man just seemed to keep rattling off nonsensical information, like it all made sense. Where were the scientific papers? Where was the League backing? Not that the government was the be-all end-all of accuracy, of course, but it would’ve lent at least a little credibility to the absolute bullshit that seemed to be coming out of his mouth.

“Oh, for heaven’s sake,” Raine finally said, pinching the bridge of her nose hard enough to bruise. “Prefrontal lobe swelling can happen for any number of reasons. And the Spinda’s just a shiny.” Raine was a tolerant person, but there was only so much absurdity she could put up with. Throwing a final Pokeball to catch the downed Heliolisk-- moreso to save it from this insane man’s wrath than to poach it-- she clambered back up onto Titania’s massive roots, parking there with both baby Pokemon still in her arms.

“My womanly brain apparently can’t follow your very advanced science,” she said, voice scathing, “so I will depart, as you so clearly want. But I am reporting you to the League.” Which probably would end in nothing, but she did so detest violence.

With a great groan, Titania gathered herself, then leaped a large distance, stomping off into the night.
