Melody had been asked by Eva Morales and illeana reyes to bring her strange Relicanth to evergrande city for research purposes. She held them to a promise though that he'd be unharmed as it seemed that this Relicanth was awfully delicate Melody learned, so delicate that she hadn't even really used him in battle before. [break][break]

She sat in the lobby of their research facility, swinging her legs on a chair while waiting for someone to let her into the building so that they could fill her in on the research being done.

Her head jerked over to look at him as the voice that rang out broke the serene silence that filled these halls. [break][break]

She paused her music as she pulled out her wireless headphones and tilted her head. "Huh? Oh." she said pulling out her phone and checking the time. "I must've gotten my times mixed up, I'm Melody. Dr.Eva and Illeana sent for me to bring a special Pokémon for research purposes." she says as she pulls out her pokeball and release a strange looking Relicanth. [break][break]

Where bone should be was instead replaced by a strange looking crystal that was rainbow in natured, much like an opal. This Relicanth was absolutely covered in Primal quartz, the volatile material the league had been researching as of late. "They wanted to see if they could try and obtain a sample of this Relicanth or something." as she got ahead of herself. [break][break]

"Oh. Wait. Sorry what's your name? I forgot to ask." as she scratched the back of her head upon realizing her rudeness.

for whatever reason, melody swearing catches him off guard. he laughs in return, genuine and happy as he reaches for the fat fish.[break][break]

no, relicanth is fucking fat.[break][break]

james struggles as he leads them down the corridor and into the lab. there, he perches the relicanth on an examination table, then starts circling around the room to grab the appropriate equipment.[break][break]

"you can stand right by the table if you want."[break][break]

soon, he returns to the table. he shrugs on his lab coat while eyeing the prime quartz.[break][break]

"so, uh, what happened to him?"

She stays near Relicanth on the table to keep it company and to ensure it stays at ease, she had no idea how it'd react to the procedure since it had never seen a doctor before. Right now it seemed pretty calm but who knows how long that'd last for once the devices started to come out. [break][break]

James had asked her how relicanth came to have such a strange appearance and she merely shrugged. "No clue, during some missions the league sent me on, we were asked to secure the Relicanth. dahlia goode knew I was very good with water Pokémon and asked me to take care of it ever since. When I told Eva about it she wanted me to bring it in for some samples to study." she said patting him on the head to which he responded with cold dead eyes and a nudge towards her hand to egg her on to keep patting him.. [break][break]

"We also saw a Pokémon apparently named Manaphy and Phione during it. I don't know if they had anything to do with it, I've never even used him in battle as im afraid the crystals reacting to z-moves or a mega evolution or something might hurt him."

Eva Morales really should be the one doing this seeing how she's the one who requested the relicanth. but he understands how busy she is and he'd hate to turn melody away when she's made the journey here.[break][break]

that, and also because he wants to prove himself. if he's able to do this on his own then he figures it's a step in the right direction.[break][break]

"that's super interesting! i wonder what happened to him, then. it sounds like the league knew of its mutation even before."[break][break]

She placed a finger on the side of her cheek as she visibly thought about it. "Not really sure it's the most dangerous thing in the world to tell you." she explained. [break][break]

"You are working with league head scientists, im sure you're cleared to know. This took place near sootopolis, the underwater caves." she said trying to recall the events. "It was me kyle lopez michiko maeda and....I forgot who else. But when we found the relicanth. A manaphy came out of nowhere and heart swapped us and a group of other people there, never found out who they were though. I havent been back since, you know...the whole rocket occupation of the city.." she said becoming a bit more down trodden. [break][break]

Relicanth shifted over towards James, staring into his eyes as the man scraped against his skull. He didn't really seem to feel it all too much? Maybe because it was just surface level crystal.

it really isn't dangerous to tell james anything. who's he going to share that information with? the man barely hangs out with anyone. he ain't a RATTATA.[break][break]

he nods occasionally as she speaks, listening closely while he finishes scratching off residue.[break][break]

"i'll run this through our system and test to see if it matches up with anything. i don't think i can cut any of it off without hurting it."[break][break]

but that'll be done later. he puts the materials off to the side for now.[break][break]

"in the meantime, we can probably do an xray on it to try and understand the material a little better."[break][break]

He seemed thorough enough. "Yeah, that sounds fine with me. If eva trusts you then so do I." she smiles as she tries once again to pick up the fat fucking fish who had too many scoopas. [break][break]

She looked over at james helplessly as she waited for him to do it cause she was too weak. [break][break]

Once he took over she did in fact have like an awkward question. "Uhhh james, since you're more knowledgeable on pokemon biology than I...is..is Relicanth in any pain cause of these crystal growths?" she asked as she was concerned. "He doesn't really have like... an expression to his face, cause you know. Bon- I mean crystals on his face, so I cant exactly tell. He does eat and behave normally but I don't know if he's just grown accustomed to it or something." she said wondering what cobalion would want her to do about it if it was suffering.

"mmm, almost all living things respond to pain. i'm sure if your relicanth was in pain, he'd let you know. he'd likely flop around or not eat."[break][break]

and considering its size, not eating is definitely an issue.[break][break]
