expecting to see a little sprout, maybe something bigger, niko is caught off guard when he sees an actual plant with blooming flowers that stretch across the area.[break][break]

niko manner the scientist? he chuckles, shaking his head as he stoops down as well.[break][break]

"no idea. but it's really pretty."[break][break]

his finger brushes over one of the petals.[break][break]

"i thought you had just planted these?"

"I did. I wonder if these are like... magic seeds or something," Jessie said, giggling.

But as she observed the tablet further, something appeared. A question.

"To whom are you thankful?"

"There's a question here..."

The flowers that had sprouted seemed to indicate that they should answer, pointed toward the bare area where it was waiting for an answer. She looked at Niko, giving him a shrug before crouching down.

It wasn't hard for her to think of who she was thankful for. Most of them were here. The gang. Her siblings. nina larson. But most of all...

Her hand, in delicate script, wrote NIKO MANNER on the blank space, a smile placed gently on her lips.

magic seeds wouldn't be the weirdest thing going on in hoenn nowadays. in fact, even he seems relatively unfazed by the words that appear on the stone before them.[break][break]

"alright..."[break][break]

he kneels down as well before reaching out his large finger to drag across the smooth stone.[break][break]

who's he thankful for?[break][break]

scribbling all of the gang's names would take forever so he chooses those most important. he inscribes Jessica Manner's name along with baby niko, still unnamed.

Jessie gave Niko space to inscribe the names he wanted to write. And, her heart did flips when she saw what he wrote. Her own name, alongside the baby's. She reached for his hand when he was done, holding it tightly and giving a smile.

However, their moment was short-lived as the stone seemed to take their names and move onto the next step. The flowers rustled as a strong breeze blew through the area, petals flowing through the air like water in a river.

Jessie watched in fascination as it seemed to create a path. With the gracidea flower in her hands, she summoned forth her ARCANINE.

"Let's follow it before it disappears. Hop on!" she beckoned Niko, clambering onto her Pokemon's back.

Once settled, the ARCANINE sprinted off, enhancing his speed with AGILITY to ensure they crossed the floral bridge before it disappeared.

if there's one thing he learned from this trip, it's that he really needs to give baby niko an actual name. but before he can share his thoughts with jessie, a path forms.[break][break]

"ayo this is weird."[break][break]

but he knows there's no turning back now. with a nod, he swings a heavy leg over jessie's poor arcanine before hopping on.[break][break]

"go, GO!"

The bridge seemed long, and it trailed higher, and higher. Jessie felt herself clutching tighter to the fur of her ARCANINE, nerves building up as they were practically running on the air.

Finally, they landed on ground. However, as they dismounted, she noticed they were far up in the air, high in the sky.

"Oh my god," she said shakily, her hand grasping tightly on Niko's arm.

The trail disappeared. It seemed they were stuck here, on this island. However, Jessie noticed that more gracidea flowers were blooming in the center, drawing her closer. And as she approached, the stems and flowers rustled.

"Something is in there..."

Using a PHANPY, she urged it to use ODOR SLEUTH, scenting the area to find the thing that was stirring the plants. The flower she had planted still rested in her hand as she waited.

as niko hops off her arcanine, he makes sure to stay close, looking to be her support because he knows she's scared of heights. and, fuck, are they high up right now.[break][break]

"i gotchu."[break][break]

but niko doesn't see what she sees. or at least he doesn't just yet. he squints, peering through the flowery abode to look for the rotund binch.[break][break]

"what is it?"

She was about to answer that she didn't know. That perhaps it was just a random Pokemon. But, before the words could leave her lips, a hedgehog-like creature, with its back covered in flowers, appeared in front of them.

"Oh! Look at it!"

It reached toward Jessie's hands, where she still held onto the gracidea bloom. She lowered it closer, so it could get a better sniff of the flower before it walked to a plot of land that seemed bare except for a few other blooms.

"Maybe we should plant it?"

Summoning her BIBAREL as they approached, she commanded she use ROTOTILLER, churning the dirt until it was soft and moist. Then, Jessie placed the flower down, covering the roots.

The BIBAREL yawned, laying down after the "hard" work of digging up soil.

"okay. okay! it a cutie."[break][break]

wow. niko isn't quite sure what he was expecting but it certainly isn't a rotund little binch. it's kinda cute, not gonna lie, and he doesn't have the urge to kick it, unlike a certain elite four member.[break][break]

he nods at her suggestion before watching the bibarel get to work. it doesn't take it long to finish.[break][break]

while jessie busies herself with planting the flower, niko keeps his guard up, watching around them for anything odd.[break][break]

"bibarel you lazy ass."
