he was stunned, absolutely stunned. looking down at his phone, jack had snapped the perfect photo: his hair blowing elegantly in the sea breeze, the golden sand and gentle waves of the slateport beach in the background, and his rookidee, poe, zooming over his shoulder with a piece of trash in his beak. it would definitely be the headlining photo on his planned blog post in a new series about hoenn's beaches.

[break][break] "get it boy!" jack shouts as his boltund races by, easily catching airborne paper castoffs in his jaws as they flutter about in the wind. jack holds open the trash bag he is carrying as his two pokemon dutifully drop off their finds and head back out again - the rookidee flapping into the air to skim over the waves and the boltund racing down the sand once again.

[break][break] bending down to dig an old shoe out of the sand, what a terrible waste of a beautiful space to just litter like this. i should say something about environmental responsibility in the next blog post jack thinks to himself. depositing the moldy old shoe into his trash bag, he ambles on toward his next target: a half-buried lump of something some ways down the beach.

Chaos the Snubbull happens to love the beach. The warmth does wonders for his old bones, and the salt air has him constantly sniffing for the next source of entertainment. What he does not love about the beach, however, are the numerous items that punctuate its otherwise golden sands with, well...garbage.

He bounds along the beach, darting this way and that, as a particularly offensive odor catches his nostrils. He darts ahead with surprising speed for his age, zipping between Jack's legs and skidding to a halt before the same half-buried item the other man had been making a beeline toward. With a wheezing bark, he tips forward, snorting and snuffling as he digs through the sand before unearthing a half-eaten sandwich, still in its plastic wrapper.

"Ew, brah, get that out of your mouth, you don't know where it's been!" The Snubbull obligingly spits out the sandwich with a 'bleh', running a quick circle in place as Beau ambles up, sunglasses firmly in place. He spears the offending sandwich with what appears to be a nail attached to an old broomstick, depositing the refuse into the large plastic bucket he carries in his other hand.

His eyebrows go up behind his sunglasses in surprise as he catches sight of Jack and the other two pokemon currently engaged in accruing a little environmental good karma, and a grin spreads across his face. "Oh, hey!" he lifts his chin in greeting. "Tourists, am I right?" he asks with a laugh, lifting his bucket slightly to reference the collected trash.

"Oy!" jack shouts as the snubbull speeds between his legs, "what a cute pokemon!" he chuckles as watts notices the unearthed sandwich and begins to race excitedly up and down the sand looking for more.

[break][break] with a jovial two-fingered salute, he acknowledges the other trainer, his athletic physique, and his garbage collection bucket. he opens his mouth to respond but is interrupted by the terrified shrieks from a party of nearby beachgoers. a vortex of pidoves envelops the party, their blanket, and their possessions with a deafening flap of wings as they flock upends the picnic basket. utensils scatter into the sand like missiles as food packaging and scraps of napkins are tossed into the wind, fluttering fitfully on the sea breeze and the turbulent wake of the frenzied pokemon wings.

[break][break] landing in a spray of sand, poe spreads his wings and caws a challenge to the pidove horde, his diminutive form almost lost in the spray of wings and wreckage. if this weren't so serious, it would almost be funny, jack thinks to himself as he looks bemusedly between his rookidee, the vortex of wrappers and trash, and the other beach beautifying trainer.

Beau's good mood is marginally dampened by the sudden clamor of nearby picnickers, forcibly tearing his gaze from the other man only to observe...a freak Pidove tornado.

"You gotta be kidding me," he mutters, sliding his sunglasses down the bridge of his nose as he peers over them with rapt interest in the whirling vortex of sand and refuse. "And here I thought seagulls were annoying."

Chaos runs back and forth around Beau's feet, barking madly at the development, but Beau nudges him back with the side of his foot, causing the Snubbull to grumble angrily. "No, little brah, you can't fly. Let's give 'em a taste of their own medicine, yeah?" Beau unclips a pokeball from his belt and tosses it to the sand lazily. It bursts in a spray of crimson light, revealing a Blaziken who takes only a moment to survey her surroundings before facing the vortex, dropping into a combat stance.

"Alright, Kavita, teach these birdbrains some manners!" The Blaziken offers a nod of assent before leaping forward, launching herself high into the air and wheeling around with one flame-wreathed leg to deliver a blistering BLAZE KICK to the first Pidove she encounters, sending it careening wildly into the surf below.

"What a mess!" Beau remarks, eyeing the other man sidelong as Kavita gets to work. "Say, that pup of yours looks like he's got some static to him. How's his aim?"

with a smile and a wink to beau, jack turns to the raging swam of pidove. "watts, you know what do to!" he shouts above the clamour as the boltund races forward, electricity sparking around his paws and he surges across the beach. leaping into the air, watts dives headfirst into the swirling vortex of bird pokemon, unleashing energy in a wild charge. a resounding crack echoes across the beach as the boltund's head smashes into a pidove, sending it reeling to the ground below as bolts of energy flash outward blasting several of the other pokemon away.

[break][break] watts lands between two of the picnickers that had fallen trying to escape the wreckage of their belongings, panting happily at them with eyes that beg for attention. "quit trying to get pets and get rid of the rest of those birds!" jack shouts at the boltund with feigned annoyance and he shoos poe away from pecking at one of the fallen pidoves. with a rueful shake of his head, watts leaps forward and belts out a deep, roaring bark the sends the remaining pokemon scattering.

[break][break] the beach seems strangely silent after the noise of the previous moment. "well, even more mess to clean up!" jack sighs. he positions his body between poe and another fallen pidove, fixes a grin to his face, and extends his hand to the other trainer "my name's jack, by the by"

Kavita darts through the air from Pidove to Pidove, sending the odd bird squawking away or crashing forcefully into the sand, but at Watts' roaring dispersal of the remaining flock, she lands with a grunt, brushing the sand from her feathers.

Beau regards the Boltund with raised eyebrows, impressed. "Whoa, nice moves," he comments, before turning his attention to the other trainer. "Good to meet you, Jack!" he grins broadly, accepting the proffered hand and offering a firm shake. "I'm Beau!" he proclaims, beaming broadly, as though that's all there is to know about him.

His smile falters slightly as he glances over the other man's shoulder, toward the wreckage of junk and detritus whipped up by the Flying-type pokemon and the sudden evacuation of the other beachgoers. "Aw, man," he mutters, thumping his stick into the sand. "Now it's an even bigger mess than it was!"

letting out a puff of air in exasperation, jack brushes hair from his sweaty forehead as he glances between beau and the now trashed beach. "looks like we've got a little more work to do, yeah?" he says to beau as extends a hand to a fallen picnicker, pulling her to her feet. "and I'm sure you can't wait to clean up your belongings," he says while flashing a charming smile and thickening his galarian accent slightly.

[break][break] watts trots around happily, snatching up the detritus of the attack in slobbery jaws and dashing it back to its alleged owners. poe dive bombs beach goers still trying to pull themselves together, dropping garbage at their feet at chirping aggressively before flying off to collect more trash.

[break][break] a grin cracks jack's otherwise stressed face as he turns to beau and says "looks like we will have some help at this point." he rustles his trash bag playfully as he leans down and grabs a swath of torn cloth and tosses it away.

Beau shakes his head ruefully as the other man and his pokémon set to work holding the other beachgoers responsible for their own trash. When Jack leans down to help the wayward picnicker up, Beau's brow furrows slightly. "Do people listen to him more if he sounds more foreign?" he murmurs under his breath to himself, stabbing his stick into the ground and coming up with a chip wrapper that quickly lands in his bucket. "Maybe I should try that, and that one kid wouldn't give me such a hard time," he grumbles. Somewhere, klaus anchoret sneezes.

When Jack's attention turns back his way, he breaks into another wide smile, giving an idle shrug as he recalls Kavita to her pokeball. "That's definitely the way to do it, otherwise we'd be here forever!" he quips. Curious now, he cants his head to one side, peering at the other man inquisitively. "Were you having lunch? I mean, -I- come here sometimes to help keep the place clean just 'cause it's too pretty not to, but it's not many that do the same. You a good Samaritan, brah?"

"oh, no. i wasn't here for lunch," jack replies as he holds the trash bag open for another airdrop from poe. "i actually write about different travel destinations on my blog, so i was here to write about the beach. i just got bummed seeing all the trash so i figured I'd pick it up while i was here. nothin' Good Samaritan about it, just helping out!"
[break][break] jack's eyes drift to the other beach goers, watching them wander up and down the sand to scoop up trash. some even had their pokemon helping out. even those who weren't near jack and beau began to join in, swept up in the activity that was spreading like a wave.

[break][break] turning back to beau, he inquires "there's some other places i'd like to check out, if you're interested in joining?" his head turning one way and then the other, jack spots no other trash nearby. watts sprints by in a spray of sand, his mouth free of half-eaten sandwiches even as poe swoops by with empty talons. "i've read that slateport has some great bars in the lower district."
