Sometimes, Violet just needed to both get out and be alone. No, Pokemon did not count. The Rattata at her side was company, yes, but it was not a human, not someone she had to pretend anything with. It was a bit of a contradiction – Violet certainly loved playing around with the truth and such. But while that was her main source of entertainment, at some times, she needed a break still. Yet, letting the façade slip among others was problematic. A lie only worked when one was stringent and consistent with it. The easiest way to be exposed for lying was to fail to keep things straight over time.

Hence, she just needed to be alone sometimes. Not that she reverted back to the girl she’d left behind all those years ago. That would be wrong to say. This Violet Fairbanks she was? This was the real her now, even though it was built on a lie. Truth wasn’t any less of a construct than lies, in her opinion.

Thus, hiking remained. Unlike with the safari zones, there really should not be interactions with wardens or supervision. Just her and the coast around the city, the sun and the wind. And potential wild Pokemon. But those would not be an issue, she figured. By now, she had a lot of strong Pokemon, somehow. It would be fine.

Oh, an octillery. She had not expected to run into one of those. These sea-dwellers did not come up to the beach often. Maybe they came to lay eggs or something? She didn’t see any of those anywhere nearby. Then again, she could be wrong about all of that in general to begin with, so she simply shrugged and attempted to move on…

Until that thing decided to spray ink at her. She managed to avoid a soiled shirt at the breath of a hair, but almost stumbled over backwards in her attempt to dodge. Violet did manage to catch herself, though, and instead sent out her Poipole, which gleefully started to harass the thing with Toxic and Dragon Pulse, as if spurned on by the attack on its master. Violet, in turn, followed that up with a Pokeball, figuring that this Pokemon might be useful to Rocket at least, so why not try to catch it?
