Route 121 - Psychic / Ghost
An invisible force makes his feet start to slowly rise in the air. He loses his balance and almost trips. In the air. Somehow.
[break][break]
It's not funny. Neither trainer or pokémon laugh. But Leonardo supposes this does make things interesting. He had just complained about their little walk being boring, after all. Be it luck or a mind not totally perverse, his back falls on an invisible blanket that prevents any falls. On its own, his body starts spinning around.
[break][break]
Is this what astronauts feel like in low gravity?
[break][break]
Metagross propells itself up, ready to catch its trainer and return him to normal. By force, if need be.
[break][break]
Something goes wrong and the metagross misses. It looks back at its trainer in confusion. How could it possibly miss such a simple task? By the use of
Kinesis from another psychic pokémon, that's how.
[break][break]
Metagross can't exactly frown but it makes a good attempt. The cross on its face certainly does help.
Scary Face is easier for it.
[break][break]
He sees the kadabra standing still a few feet from them. It's not moving, and that makes it clear that this entire ordeal is its work. A kadabra's brain is potent, but it's no alakazam yet. to execute a stunt with this precision, it needs to concentrate.
[break][break]
Leonardo nods at the metagross, signaling for it to deal with the kadabra head-on. The kadabra's eyes may be closed but it does not mean it's not looking. It lets metagross'
Hammer Arm land only to
Disable it.
[break][break]
Metagross would try to strike again fruitlessly. Two damage-dealing attacks left. Leonardo watches his pokémon struggle. It's an uncomfortable position to be in because the longer he tries to spectate, the bigger the headache he gets. He closes his eyes.
[break][break]
"Just distract it enough that it lets me go, metagross."
[break][break]
Its trainer's orders register but it doesn't like them. Metagross would distract the kadabra enough to let Leonardo go, alright, but it'd also just knock it out in the process. If the kadabra had the ability to
disable the last move it used, then metagross would just need to hit it fast enough that it wouldn't even get any openings.
[break][break]
Can't disable a last move when there is no last move.
[break][break]
Metagross'
Hammer Arm may be out of the picture temporarily, but that's alright. It's its slowest move.
Bullet Punch is quick and
Meteor Mash lingers after the punch itself. Metagross alternates between the two, sneaks in a second and third
Bullet Punch until the kadabra lets go of Leonardo and he falls with a thump.
[break][break]
A rather ungraceful way to fall, but at least he can recover from the headache now.
[break][break]
The kadabra takes advantage of the break in-between metagross' attacks to
Recover. Metagross notices this and tries another
Meteor Punch. The wild kadabra also notices this and counters with a beam of
Psychic. Metagross falls back, but its arm is already glowing white in preparation for its next attack.
[break][break]
"That's enough, metagross. You did a great job."
[break][break]
Leonardo cuts in before the fight can resume. Both pokémon played to their strengths and, despite his metagross' superior proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, the kadabra had been able to react and counter with what it had. He presents an empty pokéball to the resourceful kadabra.
[break][break]
"You were pretty impressive, too. I want you on my team. What do you say?"
