He was satisfied with his position at the fringes of comfort, peering down over the edge of the bed at the floor below; his eyes had just begun to tremble closed when he felt something strong wrap around his midsection and yank him backwards; two seconds later and he felt his back press up against something warm and solid and he was awake.

Alexei, lulled to slumber by the cool air, settled in around, over, and below him; Memo froze, forcing himself to take calm, easy breaths, so as not to disturb his… larger… spoon. He was cradled in the crescent-moon shape of Alexei’s body, silently willing himself to not breathe too loud.

He’d never done this before. This-- this closeness. The familiarity, the vulnerability, the-- affection. It was all foreign to him. And he liked it; he liked it a lot. But it was still terrifying in its newness. He didn’t want to mess up.

He laid there, stock-still, with Alexei’s arm loosely draped over his waist, pressed back-to-chest, until the nerves finally dissipated and he could just enjoy the feeling. Eventually that, too, faded, as he finally drifted off to sleep.
