what is it that good detectives do? pretend to be the killer or something like that? well, for a brief moment cian pretends to be the arsonist but quickly realizes he cannot relate.[break][break]

thankfully, he's tugged in a direction.[break][break]

clues like the broken tombstone, perhaps. as they approach, he peers closer at it, attempting to read it.

It was another Pokemon tombstone-- this time, it appeared to be a pikachu's.

Giving the engraving a look over, Penelope's eyes slowly fell downward, going from the words to the pieces of broken granite.

What could've caused this? An incoming pokemon move, maybe?

A Mr. Rime was perfect.

Hands tracing the jutted-out edges of the tarnished tombstone, Penelope looked over at the psychic type, and smiled.

"Hello, Mr. Rime. Would you mind using PSYCHIC on this tombstone?" Her gaze then flicked back over to Cian. "I'm thinking we could maybe tap into, I don't know, something? Maybe it'd lead us to a physical clue."

She gave the Pokémon a second or two to mull it over before reaching out her hand. If he offered his own, she'd gesture for him to place his other on the tombstone.

Splashes of blue and gray speckled her vision, warping and shifting about like a kaleidoscope of colors, blurry yet sharp in all the worst ways.

At first, it was dim, too dark to truly make out the details the vision was trying to share, but over time, and through focus, they became more clear.

A shuriken of water. A blast of smoke. Screaming. It was hard to make out much more than that.
[break][break]
"C'mon..." Determination burned in her heart. If they couldn't find anything here, she'd be stuck yet again. Left without a sense of direction.
[break][break]
Fear bred a new spark of life into the visions. Slowly, a new figure emerges from the smoke, gallant in all that it was. It shimmered against the duller colors beneath it.
[break][break]
It spoke out, but its voice was muffled and hard to decipher. Especially since its words weren't meant for them, but for another.
[break][break]
"Young man." It had spoken out.
[break][break]
The vision shortly collapsed following those words, returning both Cian and Penny back to reality. Frowning, she looked up at him.

Fear laced the space between her words, as the thought nearly brought a quiver to her step. Another avatar at rocket'sdisposal - it'd certainly add to the parasitic power the organization already had.

Slowly moving around the tombstone, Penelope reached out for Cian's arms, holding onto it with gentle hands. The supportive feeling it brought was enough to fish out another thought, and more importantly, another idea.

In the vision, Penelope had saw something hidden behind the possible legendary and flashes of color

Tugging lightly at his arm, she gestured towards another direction with the flick of her chin. "I might have an idea."

It was times like these where Penelope appreciated Cian the most. Supportive both mentally and physically, he never allowed her to feel alone in her endeavors, even when the path grew dry and fragile from drought. It was one of the many reasons she originally grew so fond of his calming presence.

Their hands naturally found themselves slipping back into a firm clasp, and with one last returning squeeze, Penelope took a deep breath and began leading them towards the last place her mind could come to.

Far beyond the boundaries of the graveyard they were originally set out to investigate laid the single object of the reporter's sights: a dead tree withering away. Black and burnt, the tree perfectly matched the one she saw during the vision.

"That's it."
[break][break]
Hurried footsteps turned cautious as they approached the crisped roots of the tree.

She looked back at Cian's Mr Rime, hopeful.

"Do you mind assisting us one more time, please?"
